If it would go on sale it would be very impolite towards all the people that bought it right away without hesitation. I doubt it will go on sale. At the moment its a pretty unpolished product ready to explore the world, but not really a "game" you can play, because it is buggy and lacks the content. I personally would wait until I got the money ready for it instead of depending on a friend now. You wont come short if you just purchase it in a month.

Sorry dudes, but as long as you got any item to open cans you shouldnt have any problems. I found like 5 times more food than i would need. -
Hey Guys, Today I played my first longer session of the standalone and geared up on medical stuff. I tested my blood type just for fun and then wanted to draw blood from myself, just to see if it is working. I got a first aid kit containing: A syringe, an IV-Kit and an empty bloodbag. Sadly everytime i klicked the Syringe and selected "Draw blood" it stated: "There is nothing left" And I am pretty sure there was. Did I do something wrong or is it just not working?

Yeah I just started a little tourism tour through chernarus until I realized that I will starve to death despite 5 cans of food in my bagpack :D

I personally hate 24/7 daylight servers and stuff, but I am all in for a shorter day/night cycle that allows a person to play at day and night if they are online roughly the same time every day. 12 or 8 hour days seem ideal so that everybody gets to play on day- and on nighttime.

Yeah I had this too. Some guy with russian accent complaining about playing "the worst game ever" and one of his friends. Really one of the bugs that need fixing in the first line. -

The thing that pisses me off the most is,that despite all vehicles are taken I rarely ever see or hear someone driving arround. -
I think you are mixing up DayZ-Standalone, the dayz game that is currently under development, with the Mod DayZ for ARMA II here.

Apart from some kind of character progression I would also like to see more valuable non-military items. Rare stuff that makes it worth your while to search villages and barns. At the moment there are only a few. Like Ghillies and tents. Normally you never have to visit green spots again after you got some matches. But I am very optimistic that the new loot system will solve that issues. -

Exactly, never thought I could say something like this, but we really can learn from GTA :D One of the main problems in todays DayZ is, that a players life has no value. Thats why infection is pointless from a pure-professional point of view. Thats why banditry that goes beyond plain murder fails most of the time. The character itself has no value at all. Hes just a dummy. I think more players would play their role in, for example, a robbery and wouldnt act stupid upon loosing their backpack, if they could keep their character for that. It needs to be subtile, but noticible at the same time. I personally think it should be a partially randomized system to avoid exploitation to a certain degree. Dont know if there should be more prominent "bonus"-skills that are rare to unlock, but will give you some unique boni like "less recoil for pistols only" or "Your bolts never break upon impact" or "your immunesystem protects you from getting infected through dirty water". Nothing imbalanced, but so noticable and unique that you want to keep this character longer. -

At first glance I thought you meant the purchase of character-models, what would be rather normal for a free-to-play. I dont think that a system like this would be successful, because it has some major flaws. 1. I personally am disgusted by the thought of me spending money for a respawn. Would never ever touch it. 2. This would lead to so much hate. Think about every kill a sniper-kid does costing other guys real bucks??? ( I know there are people on this forum that would sit on a hill one hand in their trousers, if that were true) 3. Your friend crashes a car with you all at the backseat...Do you think he owes you 5 bucks now? 4 Would kill the last rest of player interaction there is in the game. Player base would melt down to some hundreds who would enjoy the most hardcore deathmatch game ever. Thats what DayZero is for. 5. A system like this would show that the developers of the game are not capable of creating a proper system to increase character-value. A true statement of helplessness and uncreativity. All in all this idea would kill the game in my opinion. Regardless of the actual number you wouldve to pay. I would rather like to see visual customisations like in the increasing number of other games, because it would, if done right and thematically fitting enhance the visual individuality of characters. sincerily yours EndEffeKt -

Its difficult to answer a question like this. I personally think that the normal kos playstyle is not suited to judge players according to it, because its just the easiest and straightforward playstyle. On the other hand I would see players that try to be friendly and trustful in others as a reflection of their normal state of mind. I personally am a friendly survivor, a dota2 support-player, a battlefield medic and am working in the healthcare system...Coincidence? I dont know, I think I might just be a carebear. The opposite would be a guy I met some months ago. I was lurking through Berenzino with a friend, when suddenly a survivor followed by a trail of Zeds crossed our way screaming: "Friendly friendly dont shoot!". We were like: Wth! and replied that we wont shoot if he carries on. We talked a moment about if there is loot in the supermarked or hospital and then we went further for some bigger storagehouses 300m ahead. 4min later we leave that buildings just to get shot in the back by him waiting behind a wall. Its nothing special but I was really mad. Most of you might say "Yeah your own fault" and yes it was, because we trusted in the promise of a stranger. But I think that it shows some of your character if you just shoot down 2 people that just let you live and even offered you help for your critical situation, the moment they turn their back on you. I know its only a game, but still I personally could never do that, because I would feel terrible. -
Choosing spawn location and the implications.

What about everybody not beeing able to spawn at the same location twice in a row? OR What if you need to spawn at every spawn location once until the others are unlocked again? It opens the possibilities to spawn with your friends, if you all got at least one matching location unlocked. But at the same time a system like this would not focus all players arround cherno/electro and wouldnt make revenge kills/grabbing your old gear too easy. -
Does knowing how to read a topographic map help you?

Hmm I dont know if you really need to get taught to use a topographic map. I might not be a ranger, but I can farely well use it to navigate without any further lessons. -
Sounds very promising so far. Some days ago I found 2x M14, 1x AK-Kobra, 1x M1014 and 1x M16A2 in ONE firestation :D Was hilariously stupid.

Good morning people, as the title states, I am back in the buissiness and pretty confused after my months of break. Where the hack are all the vanilla-servers? I am a friendly survivor that wants to play the mod as a survival-game on a halfway crowded server. So no 300+ vehicles, no extra barracs, no OMGWTF-stockpiles of m14. No bullshit! All the vanilla servers I find are empty as graveyards and even offical hive servers got additional buildings and stockpiles of weapons. I am living in germany and am in search for a european server with active players and a real dayz-experience. Maybe someone could help me out. I would even join a privat servers community as long as its not all pvp-focussed and heavily modded. cheers

Just started over again after some months of break. Did they revert all the 1.7.6 changes again? Pretty sad if you ask me. Loot seems way to plentiful in this version, but I have only played like 90min so far.

Killing zombies needs to be a main part of the game? Thoughts?

I completely agree. There needs to be an urge to kill zombies. Its clearly going the right way if the zombies do not magically respawn in the area. It will matter for the first time if you kill a zed or not. The next big issue is fixing the zeds movement, so that they are not moving like usain bolt on crack. Running insanely fast, but twitch and circle at the same time. It might be due to my lack of skill to some extend, but it seems impossible for me to get clear (head)shots on moving zeds while in the open. They need to move more reasonable to be shot, but need to be more dangerous at the same time. Its possible with increased dmg, hold-attacks, tackles, incresed numbers and so on. But they definetely need to be a bit slower and more predictable in their movement to make clearer shots possible in my opinion. Most of the time i dont shoot them because i know that i waste a lot of ammo in the open and in the worst case get hit and infected in the process. Other possibilities would be some crafting material that can only be found at some zeds (some glands maybe), although that is a pretty MMORPG-ish kind of idea. But in the end i think that the new respawn-system will be the biggest factor to bring zeds back on the track :) -
Hmm Vanilla-DayZ...hmm. I just started playing again after months of break. My last version was 1.7.7 and it was a lot of fun. Yesterday I killed my character and started fresh. Was spawning in Elektro and heading for the fire station. And then things got crazy: I found: 2x M14 1x M16A2 1x M1014 1x M4A2 1x AK-Kobra 2x Sidearms In ONE FREAKING FIRE STATION! Server doesnt state something about aditional loot...Is THIS vanilla dayz now?

I dont think that playing DayZ or any other computer game is much of a problem as long as you still got friends you play with. Social isolation on the other hand is bad and in combination with adictive games leads to no good. I would try to join a sports-team or something similar ;-)
