Disappearing Bodies and combined magazines
EndEffeKt replied to petermann2's topic in New Player Discussion
Or they just fix the bug that causes the problem :D I think I read Rocket already got that fixed and it rolls in with the next patch. You cant currently combine mags with Tape as far as I have understood. The ones in the game are spawning the way they are. -
noob here. How do I make my screen not blurry after being injured?
EndEffeKt replied to vvarpidgeon's topic in New Player Discussion
Its a known bug, that will get adressed soon. The folks above already gave you the correct fix. -
The worst back stab you have ever experienced!##Post here your Stories###
EndEffeKt replied to Aussie Bogan's topic in General Discussion
I have never shot first in my time in the mod or in the SA and there were times I paid for it, but there were also very tensed encounters, that got everybody involved to 200 bpm and went without anybody fireing a shot. BUT there was one bitch, that is stuck in my mind: Me and a buddy were in Berenzino at the supermarked, when a guy with 10+ zombies at this back comes running our way and screams "friendly friendly". We let him go, even offering him help. He refuses and asks us a bit if there is any loot in the surrounding buildings. We have a little talk and then head to the farm buildings. When we come out of the farms, he followed us after losing the zeds and layed an ambush down. Gunning us both in the back...he was way better geared than us. Was just for fun I guess. Pretty ordinary story I know, but direct betrayal is something that is always really freaking me out. Even if its on the internet in some game. -
fast and highly observant zombies are bad for the game
EndEffeKt replied to Antiklimax's topic in General Discussion
The development of the Zeds is clearly a key part in the further evolution of this game. At the moment they are buggy and run through walls. This needs fixing and is no topic for a discussion. What I noted very positive are two things that were a main concern for me in the mod: 1. Zombies dont run like Usain Bolt and dont twitch like a LSD-Junkie. This makes me able to actually shoot zombies with steady and aimed shots. In the mod it was nearly impossible to get a clear shot on one of those glitching basterds. That leads in the end to a better atmosphere and to the initiative to finally kill zeds instead of only avoiding them. I as a friendly survivor like the idea that I can now properly use my gun on the real enemy. 2. Zombies do not respawn the moment they drop to the ground. Not only were you unable to really have fun shooting running Zeds in the mod, it was absolutely irrelevant nonsence on top of it, because they just respawned seconds later and maybe behind your back to eat your brain! Now it feels like my hunting of Zeds has an actual impact on the game, because I can clear buildings, villages or maybe whole cities of them (for a while at least). I think this is a fact that is overlooked much, but is so important to the atmosphere. I think that authenticity and realistic feeling of the Zeds is the most important goal at the moment. Removing the movement bugs and designing them in a way that they feel authentic. The balancing part is another task that has to be tackled afterwards. Zombies are easy at the moment, let them be until they work properly. For the difficulty I personally would focus on the numbers rather than the durability or the speed. I think people want to fight zombies if they have the right equipment to do so, not only run from them all the time, not because of fear but of annoyance (is that a word actually?). If I am a fresh survivor and I have finally managed to get a baseball bat it should suffice to defend myself vs. a single zombie, or the weapons have no point at all. So I think approaches that add unrealistic amonthes of durability to Zeds will lead to more problems than they solve. Same with the good old sprinter-zeds. It just kills immersion and athmosphere if I am running with a zombie behind me for miles. If I am running cos i tend to get surrounded by a horde, thats something completely different. Sorry for the wall of text, maybe someone bothers to read it. -
Hey guys, I am not quite sure if this is a bug or working as intended: Today I finally managed to get my hands on a Mosin (and found 3 others right afterwards, duh!). Weapon looks cool, shoots stuff, everything is fine. What puzzles me is the reload, which seems quite awkward to me. Ok I cant use "R" to simply auto reload. No problem guess its cos it works without mags. So I have to manually put bullets in, right? My problem is, that if i fired like 2 shots and got 3 others left, I cant refill the weapon right away, because it states "Weapon is already full" ....which is a plain lie. So I now have to eject the remaining 3 bullets and combine them with the rest to now finally stack 5 new ones in. I am no weapon-expert, but that seems like a bug to me. Or is there something weird IRL about the reloading of a Mosin? Like a little cartridge that has to be ejected in order to load again? Feel free to enlight me :)

I used the painkillers now serveral times when my character was mourning and feeling pain. Didnt change anything. Despite I ate like half the box. Morphine always seemed the way to go. I got the suspicion that my char is a junkie, you cant have pain all the time.... So what are painkillers good for in the SA, if not for stopping pain?
-
.45 is in the game, I never found a magazine to use my bullets though :D Check car wrecks for weapons, I found serveral Mosins on the front seats. And check the military areas that seem to be forgotten, like North-Eastern air strip.

Help I need to calm down...!
EndEffeKt replied to CGNoodlePot (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
My beans for you, that you solved the situation like a real man and everybody got out alive :) Many people on this topic seem to prefer the easy way out. You did a good job mate. -
For weapons I would try to look into car wrecks, found 3 Mosins in 15min. And ammo for that baby is like everywhere. And heading north is the way to go. Dont know where all the people are. Played a lot yesterday and me and my friends did not see a single person, despite the server was full. Is everybody playing quake 3 in elektro and NWAF or whats the matter?
-
If you find car wrecks, try to look into them, because they have a high chance of containing maps and weapons. Found 3 Mosins in like 15min.

Health system: What I could figure out.
EndEffeKt replied to LouisK's topic in New Player Discussion
Hmm so I got a question regarding the injection vials: Are they always containing some antibiotics? Because both the text and the etiquette dont state that. According to the etiquette i am carrying Sodiumbicarbonate, which wont help me much as long as I am not developing some kind of Diabetes with ketoacidosis :P -
As long as there is no ambient light and indirect lightning of your flashlight its a pain to play at night. The flashlight needs more than a razor-cut cone of light. If i turn on a flashlight in a room it should illuminate the room not only 30x30 cm² of the wall.

Thanks for the info mate.

Blood gaining, sickness and status food/drink???
EndEffeKt replied to ValterZz's topic in New Player Discussion
For me beeing well fed and hydrated worked well. Got from grey to full HD colour TV in like an hour, without resting much. But I assume you really have to be WELL fed, not only without hunger. There is also a graphic bug that causes blurred vision. Try to go into settings/video/rendering and disable HDR and postprocessing. Maybe it helps. -
Sickness and starvation are two different things, that in the end kill you both. Maybe you drank or eat something infectious or got hit by a zombie receiving an infected wound. In the second szenario you can possibly save yourself by desinfecting your wounds with alcohol tincture.

{Stand alone} Spawn locations to tell you where you are when you spawn.

Working as intended. -
Anyone have Black and White Graphic ?- DayZ Standalone
EndEffeKt replied to davc123456's topic in New Player Discussion
Ok a little excourse on the food/health system: You start with like 30% of your maximum hydration and food level. If your character is not hungry it does not mean that he is full on nutritions. If you are not hungry you get no dmg, but you do not regenerate hp either. To regenerate hp you need to encrease your hydration/nutrition level further, near full. To do that you should search a well/pond near you and spam "drink" ca. 30 times until your character states "my stomache is full". Now you can be pretty sure that you are well hydrated for some time. Now eat some cans of food to increase nutrition level. That should be enough to regenerate hp over time and your screen colours should come back. Blood bags are another way of increasing your blood level. You need another player to apply a transfusion on you. It needs to be your blood type, so you need a test kit before the transfusion or you risk dying of a transfusion-reaction. Blood bags can be won by draining another player and can later be stored. -
Chapeau, then I was wrong.

The Zeds in the SA are totally bugged in their movement right now and just follow your waypoints. Its not you beeing noobish, they are just very difficult to lose right now. Work in progress.
-
I can only encourage new players to resist and NOT USE THE MAP. You will look back on the good old times when you were lost and didnt know where to go. Just dont destroy yourself that in the very beginning and explore the map yourself. :) A very good bet to find big backpacks are the construction sites with the kranes. I always found 3-4 in these.

A flare match. Works in the rain (that has yet to come). Signal Pistol. Drawing Zeds attention and can used for distraction...giving away your position. Maybe we could use it to light something (a pool of gasoline?) up from a distance. Coffee. Gives you more stamina maybe? Donno exactly what its benefits have to be. Can. For the coffee GPS/GPS-Tracker. Makes no sence until we got cars, but at that point it would be so cool if I could hunt down the guy that stole my jeep with my GPS and a machete in hand :) Hidden holster. Can carry a pistol hidden. Hand-made bow. A bow that is craftable. Maybe even with the posibillity to use different quality materials as you pass by them. For example: Wire instead of some kind of rope. Or karbon instead of wood.

I definetely think that an item and the mechanics for this are on the roadmap for development. Same with repair of other objects.
-
Do you have the slightest idea how much of work it is for a small team to cut a game down to its core and reassemble the parts from there? Yes, its not that much fun to play at the moment, but a lot of the basic systems are working fine and I think we will get a completely different impression 1,2 and 6 months down the road. Biggest issues beeing major bug fixes and Zombie-pathing at the moment.
-
Yes, I believe you are wrong. I think its the long building south on the other side of the street.

My experience was pretty good in the standalone so far, granted that I did not play much and only met 3 players by now. Was on the coast nobody got a ranged weapon, we weaved at each other and everybody went on his way. Some tipps that might be helpful to the peaceful survivor: 1. Go North. This might be one of the most useful advices one can give, because you will find more loot north and all the little killer-kids will frequently respawn and head to cherno/electro asap to gear up again. Therefor you might encounter less hostile players if you avoid the big cities and the NWAF. 2. You can now holster your weapon while outside of a combat situation. Do it to show that you are no iminent threat to another player that meets you. If he already had the intention to kill you this will naturally lower your chance of survival though... 3. Try not to pop up behind another player, if you have already seen him. Either avoid him completely or try to comunicate over direct chat. Lowers the chance that he just shoots you as a reflex.
