The randomness of zombie caused fractures is dumb.
Abruz replied to davidecibel's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm logged off in Stary Sobor - I might have morphine if you desperately need help, lmao. -
Just buy Arma 2: Combined Operations and you'll be set. You recently missed the 40% off discount during STEAM's summer sale though!

LOL, yeah - that can happen. I've been shot and killed on 2-3 player servers in Stary Sobor before and been safe in 50 player servers. Good luck! -
Czech Vest Pouch - 6 Coyote Patrol Pack - 8 Assault Pack - 12 Czech Backpack -16 ALICE Pack - 20 Coyote Backpack - 24 These are the backpacks and their slots, courtesy of the DayZ Wiki. Are you sure you're examining the slots properly and not checking the Czech twice?

Servers all vary in their in-game times. Some of your Russian servers may be day or they may be night. Try playing on non-Russian servers too if possible.

Due to the M203 irons overlapping with the M16's, I find the sights god awful to use. The grenade launcher's notches also represent precise distances when you're launching grenades.

It happens. Try random servers and if you have no luck, try determining what UTC+ or GMT+ timezone is day and go by that in the server titles.

You get the odd tent that spawns a zombie and there might be one or two wandering around the area that the tents are in. Bear in mind Stary Sobor military tents are often overwatched by bandits, it's a popular spot. -
Once you have the weapon out, you simply press L.

I bought the legit one from Bohemia Interactive and have it stuck up on my wall next to me. Before that.. I used my second monitor.

I've had buddies passing through Devil's Castle get shot at. Depending on the server, it can be popular with bandits. Any notable landmark on the map, especially something as known as Devil's Castle, is a risk.

That sounds like lag or a bad connection - that pistol is capable of one-shotting zombies in the body. I understand your frustration too, at one point me and two friends had our legs broken all at the same time with a heavy lack of morphine. I'd say having serious injuries like broken bones would be feasible if you were being attacked by several zombies at once and were below a certain blood level or already passed out but when it happens to me it just seems to be a random and unlucky swing from a passing zombie that causes me to drop to the floor and break my legs which is silly and rather annoying. -
With the style of the game and how it plays right now I would say game purchase with no subscription is the most suitable and would bring in the most players. I enjoy the game as it is with having to find your own items so there's level playing field for everyone, F2P and "buying" items in this game would ruin it completely and make it unbalanced/unfair. Listening to what the players have to say is always good and I don't think enough studios do that. It could be studio with that idea in mind, or just community - whichever. Servers are good the way they are at the moment. Community-ran servers with the input/restrictions from the developers to keep the gameplay the same no matter what you play on is a great idea so everyone can have servers in their country and they can build their own communities around them and bring more players in, etc. Kickstarter/pre-purchase would most likely be successful, I'd say yes to that also and pay myself.

The game allows people to kill other players so it's going to happen whether you like it or not. I'm sure it would in a real zombie apocolypse too. If you're constantly being shot where you go then change your playstyle and adapt to it - the PvP possibility is what makes the game what it is in my opinion.

Winchester or Lee Enfield? [POLL]
Abruz replied to Dawn (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It would depend on your playstyle.. if you intend to steer clear of players and only get into fights with zombies then the Winchester would be more reliable. It's quiet, it one-shots 'em and the ammo is common. If you intend to do a bit of both and want to defend yourself against players or hunt them, the Lee Enfield is your best bet. It's a powerful weapon, common ammo and one good shot and they're gone.. whereras the Winchester will be a struggle in a fight in my opinion. -
Any of the PCIe 3.0 cards wouldn't saturate a PCIe 2.0 bus as far as I'm aware so you needn't worry about that. You can use 3.0 cards with 2.0, yes. I managed to play reasonably well (on low graphics) with a 5650 in my laptop before upgrading to a new desktop. Any card around $150-$200 would have a fighting chance at playing this game much better than you currently do. Just ensure the rest of your system is compatible and your power supply is able to handle the upgrade, etc. Unsure about that cpu but you could always try overclocking to reduce the "bottleneck" with a new GPU if you don't want to buy a new system.

I used to play on a laptop (even without a numpad, but you need to change keybindings!) but ended up investing in a new gaming computer to play. So, yes, it's possible but it's usually awkward and regular consumer laptops are normally lacking in the gaming department.

Can't break glass from the hospital(factory)
Abruz replied to kibah's topic in New Player Discussion
I found that certain windows break the glass in one shot. Usually the ones on the left end side. -
If your gun has adjustable zeroing and a target is X metres away then you set the zeroing to the same or closet value and you normally should be able to hit him/her without factoring in bullet drop. If the zeroing isn't adjustable and it's a sniper rifle with mildots then you need to know what distances the dots stand for. For example, with the DMR, aiming normally is 400m and the dots below increase the distance and the dots above lower the distance in certain increments. The exact values (according to the Wiki) are: 0 - 400m 1.3 - 500m 2.7- 600m 4.2 - 700m 5.8 - 800m That's how I've understood it and I've always been fine. It's a good idea to watch a few tutes so you can see someone explaining it in action.

You need weapons to kill the zombies to get to the weapons.
Abruz replied to 170's topic in New Player Discussion
If you're not able to handle being chased by zombies whilst unarmed, you'll need to be sneaky like other people have mentioned. Your best bet would just be to rush to buildings in big towns and try and get your hands on anything you can find.. be that a common rifle, pistol, hatchet, crowbar etc - you don't exactly have much to lose if you have nothing. -
I would personally go for the AKM. There are twice as many shots per inventory slot (for ammo) and they're common, especially in places like Stary Sobor with the military tents. It also drops zombies in one shot like the Winchester but has a much better range and zeroing. It may be louder but I'd say the positives outweigh the negatives in this case. You may not be interested in PvP but that doesn't mean other people aren't, I think you'd be more safe going with an AKM if you were to stumble upon bandits and get yourself into trouble too.

Hey, I'm the dude in the screenshot who found the items on players. I don't think the Holo SD variant is in DayZ and to boot, both players on the roof had the exact same gear bar a few survival items. I don't think that's a coincidence.
