Probably more value for money in building your own computer but nevertheless this computer will run DayZ - not extremely futureproof but fine for any game out now and some more to come.

Never experienced broken lights despite crashing many-a-vehicle. Are you sure they're broken and the server hasn't just ticked over into the day period? Try windscreen glass slots, I suppose. That's the only other "cosmetic" one that might randomly factor it in because it won't be fueltank or wheels.

I played on a laptop card, a 5650, which is seemingly just a bit worse than yours and maintained 30-ish frames on low settings. Are you on low settings? Have you checked your game settings/reso are the same as hers when testing FPS? The graphics cards aren't exactly spectacular, if you were to upgrade I'm sure you'd get a better experience. @the guy who said put video memory on low - have you tried "default"?

GTX 670 is a desktop card.. you mean a 670M? A desktop will always be better for gaming, especially when you want to record too. You should be able to play with a 670M but I wouldn't say maxed out with the ability to record.

I now play on a custom desktop, but: I have a laptop with an i7, 8GB DDR3 RAM and a 5650 and it's playable but only on the lower settings, I think. Building a desktop is much more cost-efficient and you'll be able to play it on max for a lot cheaper than you would if you were to buy a laptop.

Very powerful gun, possible to just one-shot players from a decent range and kill them. Common ammo. Buuuut most people will always drop it for a rarer gun when they find one but it's still a great gun.

It's possible to break their legs as far as I'm aware, I've got many a zombie below the waist and they've turned from sprinting/hopper zombies into prone-only ones.

Nothing to do with your monitor, your monitor either displays or it doesn't - try updating your graphic drivers?

There's always zombies, it's probably just chance that someone didn't get any on them OR they logged in and zombies hadn't spawned yet, etc. Keep an eye on your sound and visibility levels as they'll attract zombies to you, firing weapons will also attract the zombies from afar (that you can't see) but if you keep up a running pace, they can't hit you. Just duck and weave through buildings, walls and you should eventually lose them. If not.. you'll find a gun in a loot pile with all the running through buildings you'll do.

I normally have one water bottle and an emergency can/water bottle in my bag. I normally navigate around and find water pumps/ponds/wells etc to refill my water bottle without touching the one in my bag therefore I'd have a constant supply of water. I'd rather ensure my needs are met safely than storm into a town for canned drinks and get shot. If I can't get to a water source by the time my character is thirsty, I can consume the emergency one and buy more time. Also, if you happen to be in towns and are generally looting then it's a good idea to just grab a can off the floor and satisfy your thirst meter for the time being without tapping into your own supplies. If you make it so drinking and filling at water sources is a habit, it's a pretty useful/safe habit to have.

You can toggle your firing mode with F, it'll say on the top right with your gun and ammo information. Could be semi, burst, auto, etc.

The X Anniversary Edition is pretty cheap now and you'll get the PMC/BAF DLC too which improve some textures in DayZ. And some other ARMA goodies. It's $30-something? Worth it. EDIT: Scratch that, the price went back up to 40-something.

If you're sprinting.. chances are you're going to be heard very easily. If you plan to not be heard easily, crouching and going prone are your best bet. You make more noise on various surfaces like you mentioned, the road being louder than the grass for example. The indicator to the right side of you screen (the ear symbol) will show you how much noise you're making, the more lines the more noise. Play around with it a little and test the ranges with zombies to see how really audible you are.

My group has had the joy of finding a few of these but the last few bugged them up and they disappeared randomly. :( Either way, have you tried turning on the laser designator (I think it's the same button as flashlight, L) with night vision on? If your buds have NVG, it's a good spotting tool.

I got the hang of the game by checking YouTube vids on how to play before purchasing everything I needed. By then, I was reasonably prepared and figured the rest out as I played. If you're completely new to DayZ you'll probably just need to read up on item/loot interaction and inventory/bag management to be able to start playing properly.

They're not as common as other survival equipment but you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them. I normally find them in grocery stores - try heading in-land and checking the other towns or just head onto a low-pop server that hasn't already been looted since if anyone has passed through, chances are they've taken the matches!

I just bought and installed PMC, I thought it was related to that and was freaking out earlier. :( But yeah, just keep an eye out for updates, all we can do is wait.

It's happening to everyone by the looks of it, sit tight and check for updates on Twitter or here, etc. It locks up then EVENTUALLY goes through to the mulitplayer list but fails to show servers. Must be some long-ass timeouts or something.

Roughly 58cm high x 85cm across, couldn't find a tape measure so I grabbed a dodgy ruler, my desk is built into an alcove-sort've thing so it fits perfect on the bit of wall to my right when I'm playing DayZ. And when you say laminated I think of the stiff plastic laminations(?) but obviously this had to be folded, it's on the thick/shiny paper though, like a real map or a poster.

Yes, they're around and I've used a few. Though the M4A3 CCO is better and I've come across that more often.

Time to start going for those headshots? :P
