  1. DayZ Arena! The Low Down So I've been hearing (and experiencing) about this new hacker thing called the Thunderdome, and it sounds, while annoying, really cool. So I figure, the players should try their hand at making an arena on their terms to fight in. So, whether you're a survivor who wants to prove their stuff, a bandit who kills for lulz, or a newbie that wants to make a name for themselves, give a hand at the DayZ Arena! The DayZ Arena will be a Free-for-all/Team-Deathmatch (which will be decided probably) in which players are pitted against each other in a battle to come out on top. Where? The DayZ Arena will take place on a low-population server (to make sure that all the participants can be sure of a spot, and to minimize outside interference) the name of which will be released 1 hour before the event to Referees, and 30 minutes before to contestants. It will take place in the city limits of Chernogorsk. When? At the moment, it's postponed. Rules While I'm sure most of you wouldn't mind if this just turned into a mindless slaughter, I would prefer some method to the madness, to properly determine things like winners, cheaters, whiners and bleaters. 1) One life per person. Once you die, even if you respawn at Cherno, you're out of the competition. If another player, or a referee, sees someone who died try to re-enter the competition, they're automatically disqualified. 2) Don't kill the referees. The ref's are there to make sure nobody tries to break these rules, and try to make sure everyone has fun, so don't kill them. You'll be able to distinguish them from other players by the crowbar they'll wield. 3) You are not allowed to use a crowbar. Just don't do it! For one, it's stupid. The crowbar sucks. Also, it's what the refs will be using to distinguish themselves from other players, and anyone found with a crowbar that's not a ref will be disqualified. 4) You are not allowed to exit Chernogorsk. Cherno's city limits will be defined as: The factory to the west, vysota to the north, the ocean to the south, and the building under construction to the east. Anyone found sniping outside of the city limits will promplty be sniped. Positions: So, now that you're all ready to go, here's some information on the positions you can choose: Contestant The contestant is the person who's competing in the arena, they're allowed to pick up any loot and shoot any other contestants (as is the point of the Arena.) If you wish to be a contestant, state so on the thread. Referee The Ref's, as you have probably already gathered, are the people who will be running around cherno making sure that everyone's following the rules and having a grand ol' time. They are not allowed to pick up loot (unless it's food or drink and they need nourishment) and they are not allowed to kill contestants. A select number of people will be allowed to be referees. If you wish to be a referee, state so. Player List: Contestants: ________________ ________________ ________________ ________________ ________________ Referees: AdmiralGreene ________________ ________________ ________________ ________________ May the games be ever in your favor.
  2. Just because it's in Rocket's best interest to publish devblogs doesn't mean that we as gamers deserve the devblogs. And saying that we don't deserve devblogs isn't saying the same as saying that Rocket should never put out devblogs.

    Weapon Customisation

Why's that? That kind of customization would probably be the most common you would find in a post apocalyptic scenario.
  4. These are all pretty valid suggestions for dealing with bandits, but they aren't very good for dealing with the average survivor Joe who shoots on sight because he's tired of it happening to him all the time. I used to KoS because I had gotten tired with being betrayed/shot all the time, but then I realized that it was the gearing up process that was the most fun for me, and went back to my old ways, since each death gives me a new opportunity to gear up.
  5. It's the spirit of Green Mountain.

    Weapon Customisation

I want to be able to find spray paint cans and use them on my gun to customize it. It'd be extra cool if there was something like a basic paint editor we could use to make designs for our guns.
  7. OP changed the title from 'dick' to 'duck' to try to keep the flames down.
  8. And your backpack must be full of mountain dews to offer to the mountain . . .
  9. This would probably never be put into the standalone, but I think it would be really cool if the different colors of your clothing had more than just aesthetics/visibility. Cause, you know how darker pigments absorb more light and get warmer, right? So maybe have it so that if you wear darker clothing your temperature goes up faster? This way if you don't have access to heavy winter-wear and you want to stay warm you could try to make do with like, a black hoodie or something. Just one of the ideas bouncing around in my head. Also, canned fruit.
  10. I didn't realize I was acrobatic enough to always land on my feet whenever I do a front flip from a full run.
  11. Just going to point out now that although they are sharing a bunch of art stuff, DayZ SA and Arma 3 will not be on the same engine. Arma 3 will be using a brand new engine Bohemia has, while the SA will be on the Take on Helicopters engine. So while it will be better than the Arma 2 engine, it probably won't be as good as the new engine.
  12. Also, I found a thread in another forum about this exact same question, but on the flip side of the coin. http://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/407405-you-say-heli-i-say-helo-what-gives.html
  13. They're both acceptable terms for helicopter.
  14. I fail to see the issue here. It's a private hive, they can do whatever they want. You don't have to play on their server. If somebody is "stupid enough to pay for gear," then let them, it's their choice. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean it should be stopped. It affects nobody but the people on that server.
  15. Are we supposed to talk about our experiences with Russians now or tell you how good of a story teller you are.
  16. A bunch of them do it because they like it when people hate them.
  17. If I see another player I typically just walk up to them and help them.
  18. An angsty teenager who likes to tell dark poetry to zombies in cherno.
  19. I think the server should be allowed to decide whether or not they want side chat on. Let the people who want to have side chat have it, and let the people who don't want it to have their choice too. There's no need for all or nothing, right?
  20. Wait . . . does this mean Green Mountain is real?
