    Shit Really Gets Real...

First: Let's all just ignore the trolls. Secondly: While this is incredibly interesting, the undertaking of this would be god-damn IMMENSE. My first suggestion is: completely scrap the idea of "walking" all the way across the country; maybe "way-points" on the map (similar to the Fallout series DLC travel points) so you could potentially move between areas. But definitely cut out all the boring/useless countryside in between population densities. Now, with that in mind, making the maps region-specific would add a layer of immersion to the game, but the only possible implementation I see is to have volunteer teams in the community create these maps. Then, once they're done and declared close-enough to the real-world map, turn the terrains over to the dev team to get spawn points (removes any map-creator advantages). The issue then becomes how you'd manage to store and run these varied maps. Each player would have to be responsible for the upkeep of their library of maps in order to use these terrains. tl;dr - it's a decent fantasy, but, even with the modern methods of map-creating, would take years to complete and an additional large sum of money to implement.

    Alternative food sources

Yea, but the world map with all spawns indicated is also up on Google; so it'll be a players choice to either immerse themselves or use the resources online to take the easy path.

    Respawn Option in Menu

    1) I would be genuinely surprised if this is the first time someone has suggested this. 2) This isn't a bad idea, simple, effective, all that jazz.

    Armor

We'd also need a stamina meter, so the armor-less can run faster (maybe move quieter without all that bulk?) and the body armor has a multiplier on it for stamina depletion and noise. Then we can even have the regular kevlar being rather light, all the way up to flak-jackets that are much heavier but can withstand more punishment. As you said, the key is the make it so legs, head, and arms are 100% unprotected. Maybe keep the pain the same (since it's like getting punched in the chest) just no blood damage for the first few shots. But +1 I like it, good idea.
  5. Yea. I definitely don't want to see new enemies, just give the zeds more animations/actions. The sound will be key to making the underground spooky. Minecraft has a similar sound engine when you're underground. The jump to Arma 3, or the standalone game Rocket is envisioning, could probably fix the audio short-comings of the current game.
  6. Without adding new infected, or breaking the realism by throwing in the floating boxes, the underground can only be so scary. However, the tight corners and low light will certainly add to the tension; and I'm sure the loot will be balanced with large amounts of zeds. Frankly though, I'm going to stay the hell away from bunkers unless the loot is extraordinary.

    Batttle Eye Replacement

Every anti-cheat software is going to suck in some aspect. Unless you want to form a volunteer coalition of users that reports to the dev team (and, thus, is held responsible for their disciplinary actions) there's really not much of a better solution. Arma 3, and the potential move to a stand-alone game might yield some new developments, but, otherwise, just avoid hackers when you can and report activity you have evidence on.

    Add a sexual anxiety meter

Hope this is a troll, if not.... This would get fixed in a jiffy by adding "Masturbate" to your potential actions. Boom, sexual anxiety = sated. Also, not entirely sure about you, but when I'm terrified (as in running from zombies) or hungry, or thirsty, or hunting, or really doing ANYTHING that requires attention; the LAST thing I'm concerned about is what I'm going to do with my willy later. Frankly, if you're experiencing sexual urges that literally cripple you in the middle of a task, you need to see a physician.
  9. Have you ever swung a hatchet or an ax? They're pretty light, you'd have to be a child to not be able to swing those effectively with one hand. I'd understand your argument from a point of game-balance, the ax in the secondary would allow people to snipe all day long, then creep into town and silently eliminate zeds on their way to the loot. But arguing that you wouldn't be able to lift/swing an ax with one hand makes 0 sense; we aren't wielding battle-axes. Plus, if the haft is too long, you can always saw it in half and make a nice tomahawk.

    Computer Patrolled City

Now if you wanted to use a suggestion from earlier this month, you could allow players to create safe zones by clearing out zombies from a town, then the zombie spawn inside the town would be turned off, but so would the loot spawn. Then have zombies spawn occasionally on the outskirts of the area, and it's up to the players to keep the town clear. But having AI safe zones completely detracts from the overwhelming feeling of being completely alone at the jump.

Why not: Church bells could aggro Zeds?

^^^This. The auto-bells should be taken out entirely. Although, if there were a bell rope that you could pull, you could have the ringing bells aggro zombies, and use the bells as a distraction when raiding a town.

    Implement a leveling system

Ooh! And then, after you hit level 70, you can push a button, which gives you a new emblem to let everyone know how 1337 you are! But you start over at level 1, just with a new emblem. Sounds dumb, I get no satisfaction from seeing a number with a badge next to my name.

    Shit/Piss System

Most people don't piss blood until they're severely (as in: close to dead) dehydrated. Please see a doctor if that isn't the case.

A realistic way to balance PvP

Ever heard of a sociopath? Narcissistic personality? Borderline Personality Disorder? All of those psychological disorders manifest in one primary way: inability to empathize with others. These types of personalities would make murder feel as normal as breathing, and are only noticed and treated when ones behavior falls outside of the societal conception of the "norm". Hate to break it to you, but DayZ is about NOT having any of those norms. Regardless, why not give me force powers and adjust their cost based on how dark or light side I am? You're already shoving a shoddy morality system down my throat, might as well beat me over the head that this is a fantasy game. tl;dr please post in the 4 other "baawwwwwwwwww PvP is too hard" threads that suggest the EXACT same fix you're proposing here.

How to fix server hopping for loot

Is there a prize for making the thousandth post on the same topic?

Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)

Nothing is stopping you from assigning "classes" or "roles" to members of your group. A class system only benefits a group-based game, so a lone wolf has no incentive to pick a class, they have to be a different thing at all times. You can already have a class system, all it takes is about 3 mins of coordination and then each person in your group has a class.

    DayZ needs to be harder.

Random load outs will only encourage respawning so people can get better gear from the jump. Keep the spawn load outs regulated. Ammo and weapons are easy to find, but the difficulty of finding a ranged weapon when you're unarmed is amplified by the fact that a single zombie spells game over to you. Keep the spawn amounts the same, maybe extend the spawn time of ammo so it's not so simple to stock up. The casual servers actually do serve a purpose, and it comes down to "if you don't like it, don't play it". Some people want the zombie apocalypse mod but don't want the challenge, so the only thing being achieved by removing those servers is you're cutting out a portion of people who are advocating for this mod. It might suck, but not everyone is "hardcore", and casual gamers have a place in the world.

    spawning with a map?

You start finding landmarks that are more reliable than guessing town names. I could see upping the spawn-rate of maps, just because printing is so cheap in today's world, so it's not unheard of to have country maps be stupid common. But spawning with a map would be assuming that everyone would have a map, which isn't the case.
  19. Since ArmA III is on the horizon, I'd say worry about audio after the mod moves to the new engine.

    Securing bases without imbalancing gameplay

THANK GOD. Ty for the heads-up, I usually just get pissed and find an un-barricaded building to loot. Although I have logged in to find the barn that I took a seat in has been fortified, which was also the last time I logged out while inside a structure.
  21. Stoop_Kid

    Securing bases without imbalancing gameplay

I counter your terrible idea with this: add wire-cutters and wrenches to make barbed wire and tank traps removable. Screw security, I work hard to hide my tent, and if I can't make room to carry it, then I don't view it as a true necessity.

Med Kits or First Aid Kits!

Could work. Definitely needs a little more tweaking, but you might be on to something here. This would, again, add an incentive to team-play. A player with a med-kit on their back is invaluable to a group, but useless to a lone wolf. But why not just find large packs for your group and assign roles to people? And, I hate to say it like this, but, were I a bandit, the FIRST bastard I'm picking off is the guy with the big white plus-sign on his back. Then, as he dies in the mud, his friends have to choose to save his stuff (which, in turn, makes them easy targets), or spend another few hours scrounging for the next med kit.

    Weapon Sling

Shotties can still be long-range, as the game has both slug and pellet rounds. At a certain point, the sling could introduce a problem: you've already got a sidearm slot, so giving a sniper a shotgun, a long-range rifle, AND a pistol would make them ridiculously OP. While the slings would be nice, and they are definitely real, this leave too much room to make players roaming death-machines that can singe handedly clear out an entire city over the course of a few hours. I do like your thoughts on a melee slot. I'd, personally, like to see melee become secondaries, so I can use a rifle for long-range and then use an axe as I get closer to a building.

    Zombies need a total overhaul.

Zombie AI will be fixed, you've got a fair point, though. The zombie spawns (I think) are also on the to-do list. A lot of people have discussed how immersion-shattering it is to see a zombie wink into existence as you're plodding along/sprinting for your life. Regardless, fair points.
