    you sir, are an ahole

I do it because I'm an asshole. If I'm on the coast I'm usually looking to give gear to a friend. If you aren't my friend, I hunt you down and kill you like a raging psychopath because this mod is most fun when ruining someone elses fucking day.

    Pricing.

Just to be clear, Rocket did get money for people buying Arma 2: CO to play Day Z. While he may not have received royalties as a direct result of sales, he obtained a job as a lead designer at BIS. They probably pay him for said job. (A job he wouldn't have if we, the community, didn't buy Combined Operations with such fervor) Either way, the fact that Day Z mod is staying in development while they make a standalone version makes it obvious that they do not intend on simply pulling the plug on Day Z mod. This alone means that the money spent on Combined Operations is completely valid. If you don't like what you see in the standalone, looks like the mod will still be a valid product for you to spend time with. I, for one, cannot wait to play the standalone. And probably keep playing the mod as long as it's up too. Can't get enough of a good thing.

    Pricing.

As a gainfully employed individual, I will happily pay twice for Day Z. When I bought Arma II: CO and encouraged a few of my friends to buy it, I did not realize that there was to a standalone model coming at any point. This wouldn't have changed my decision to buy it. So far, this is $30 I would gladly buy again. Just like I am going to throw money at anything Baldurs Gate (enhanced edition what), there are some games and innovators so worthy of your money that multiple versions of the same game are equally valuable. Playing devil's advocate, I wish that it was advertised better on the front page that a standalone model was coming that would require additional funds be given. This would prevent any ill will towards Rocket and Bohemia that is unfounded. As of this writing, there is still nothing to indicate that it's going standalone at first glance. It is also unclear if the Day Z mod will remain an active part of the Arma II: CO community after the standalone release, rendering all time spent exactly that: time spent, not invested. Hopefully that makes sense.

    In game GPS

    Satire. But yes, sarcasm.

    In game GPS

Europe has fat stupid people too. However, America is the best so we have way more.

    Banditry exploded

The Day Z psychopath equations go something like this: Sniper Rifle + Vantage Point = Psychopath Any Weapon at all + other player = Douchebag Hell, I used to help everyone I came across. Found a pair of sniper rifles for me and my friend and now I'm a fucking asshole. When I finally die, I plan on being less of a dick again. Unless I find another rifle. Cyclical douchebaggery.

    Hacking is ruining this game.

Agree with the OP. You have my beans. Anyone who screams alpha or thinks hackers are good somehow is a fucking fucktard.

    Right Time Right Place

I spawned the other day, found an AKS-74 in Cherno (luck!) and then saw a guy run into the apartment building I was in. I went up the ladder, waited for him and then shot him in the fucking face. Compass, binocs, map, matches, alice pack, etc, etc. Only missing NVG and GPS. 15 minutes in and pretty decked out. Not exactly your scenario, but was definitely being in the right place at the right time.
  9. One of the funniest things I have seen is when Rocket addressed the zombie animations during an interview at Rezzed. During this Q&A he stated that the zombie animations are what happens when a designer decides to make animations faster... the bar gets slid way up, problem solved. I don't feel these are "whining" issues. These are very real problems with the design of Day Z that Rocket has acknowledged. (Rocket, correct me if I'm wrong.) Sorry I don't have a link to the interview, I looked for it and can't locate it now for some reason.
  10. I appreciate the OP's candor. It does sound like this mod is not for you. I will say that I am perfectly okay with the PvP aspect and that most people are rampant psychopaths. I do wish that sniper rifles in general were removed from the game, but this topic has come up many time with wildly passionate opposition on both sides. OP: If you would like to group up in game and play together using Ventrilo or Teamspeak, let me know. Fire me a PM and I will help show you the ropes a bit. =-)

    Respawn Confirm

This would be a nice, user friendly option. I haven't done this yet, but always wondered if I might when choosing Options or such.

    Make it harder, less loot

When I can no longer buy a variety of nightvision goggles from Amazon.com, I will agree they should be removed from a game. Seems to me, we'd have more civilians with NVGs, not fewer. The thing that could be added would be lack of a headset (requires use like a binocular) and limited use of batteries. Many NVGs last about 15 hours according to their specs. To be fair though, not once have I died to someone with NVGs at night. Though I did get hit by a truck. That sucked. Nerf trucks. Oh, and any asshat with a makarov can kill a guy with an M16 or sniper rifle. Headshot and they win. In a game where the average lifespan is 35 minutes, item rarity is moot. You're gonna lose it eventually anyways.

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

So everytime you people get bored just DB wipe only for you? That's straight up selfish, and unless its completely needed for the survival of the game it shouldn't be done. Please read before posting, it would help with alle the duplicated guns'n stuff. It is an alpha ur supposed to test, not play the whole day for fun and than log off. It gets boring in terms of shooting serverhoppers on NW-Airfield or Stary ... Thats all im saying. To further elaborate my point, I roleplay my characters internally. I don't run around spouting superfluous dialogue to everyone, but I do try to live each survival as though -I- have entered a zombie apocalypse. If a DB wipe was incoming, I would like to see some form of scenario that would make sense. Such as an asteroid hitting a planet already gone to shit. Not just a "well, too many bugs caused a reset" scenario; some compelling reason that not only makes me mourn the loss of my character (not gear, character), but celebrate the chance to start a new chapter. This isn't a statement of condescension, only one of creative suggestion. Hopefully that makes sense.

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

YES! I think a full DB wipe would be sweet. Would that include Vehicles and tents? because I gotta be honest. I'm missing the early game' date=' crawling round cherno feeling physically sick with fear. Now, late game, it just turned into patrolling with our vehicles. looking for more tents to store all the stuff we find at the crash sites. I miss feeling scared. The DB wipe would bring back some old times that I miss dearly. [/quote'] Go to Elektro and die... I hope there wont be an DB wipe... Anyone clamoring for a DB wipe thinks that survival means running through Cherno/Elektro and finding beans until they die 20-30 minutes later. Also, the map glitch is fixed from my previous post. Guess that was an anomaly.

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

I'm good with this being alpha and some of the items I played for being gone. I start every character by giving him a name (I'm currently playing Fred) and mourn his death only momentarily before getting excited about the life of my new character. Your deflection is totally unnecessary. Shrugging off issues with "oh, we may have talked about this other thing in the past" is an unnecessary statement. tl;dr: Justification isn't needed. Shit happens. Game is still good.
