It is hard to not curse all you doomed playerkillers, I´d like call you retarded assh*** but I dont do that, since in some point it is a part of the game. In a real life scenario like that one, we´d have the same social structures. The busy and "good" guys, who want to survive and risk to die while helping another one, and there would be the bad (and mostley retarded) guys with black teeth and an IQ of a pig. But that would be reality. I prefer not to be the "not so smart" but therefor coward person in the game, I enjoy it to get my self from village to village and gather the stuff I need, always the fear in the neck, to meet such an retarded and black toothed Bandit. It somehow moves me into the postapocalyptic world. But if you Pkiller enjoy sniping other players for their goodies, from the hidin place...well, you´ll have your reason for this, I am sure your psychologist knows why...

Holy cow, I can´t believe what happens here. and yes, ...Dude.... I am serious. It has a reason why I wrote this. This is no retarded post, this was a fast and easy description for the difference between ArmA and CoD. Windows in ArmA building do not consist out of glass, it´s simply a texture on a solid block, there´s no inner life within the buildings. Consider these as a simple solid block with a texture, that looks like Glas, but it is no Glas. That´s why I said, you´re not supposed to shoot through Glas. May be I gave a bad describtion, but it is as it is. You´re not supposed...or better, you´re not able to shoot through Glas, since there is no Glas. There might be some buildings with kind of glas structure,, but these are quite rare If you have full modeled buildings with windows and an inner life, so you might notice that these buildings have always either broken Glas or no Glas, where you then can shoot through. Do you guys now understand the different? My post was not a retarded post, there was also no reason to give a bad reputation, Reuter, you´d consider to revoke it again (by the way, you´d comment the reason for the bad rep...) Again, ArmA is no Call of Duty (or other Games like that) Once you start your carreer in ArmA with may be editing, you might notice that. Good luck

same for me, I reported that bug yesterday as well: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2464 right now I joined FL1 and I am again in the Wood. I keep there now and try to get back to the map, since I reported that issue and haven´t yet recieved any answer on this.

Hello there, I am MemphisBelle my real firstname is Daniel, I live in germany. MemphisBelle might for the most of you guys be just a player, since many of you guys are new to ArmA. Some ppl of the core ArmA Community might know my Nickname or at least took notice of that, since I am the translator of the editing guide for ArmA1, which is still quite often in use these days (even if it is 4 years ago now) I prefer daytime playing in DayZ because in a real scenario one wouldn´t dare to leave the secure hiding-place just to running around, so I jump from EU to US servers. My role in the game is to be a survivor, and if this is possible a supporter in many ways. I think that this mod has many facettes which makes it so intersting to play. Espacially that there are bandits, OK what I absolutely dont like is beeing sniped from a hidden PlayerKiller who has no interest in the game but in killing people (I highly advice them to go to a psychologist as this is not normal). But even these people are making that game so exiting. If you meet me ingame you can be sure that I wont kill you, even if you have a good gear and weapon. So I hope I will meet some further folks out there who have no intention to kill everythings and everyone that moves.

It happens to me two times since I wrote my last post in this thread, that I´ve got shot by survivor who hasn´t had any actual reason to misstrust or even fear my presence. The first one met our little group of 3 players on a certain point on the map (I wont tell the place where it happens). We made sure for each other that we dont want to kill for the gear, so he moved on and didn´t cared about us anymore. A short while later we met him again with someone else nearby him, as he startet to attack us. I immediately went prone (after he wounded me)and put a whole Makarov Magazin into him, (which hopefully killed him). I was heavily injured and wanted to move away to take cover as his friend finally killed my.But he was shot then by the last guy of my group, which survived that attack. The second situation happened near the respawnpoint after I died a very earned death....another story :D. Someone got attacked by a horde of Zeds. I intended to help him, as he got attacked by a crawler, so I shot on the Crowler and killed that beast...as an answer of the guy I saved his ass, I recieved a bullet straight into my head...That was the by far most sensless death ever. Now I ask my self...how to behave on the next contact? Shoot first, be friendly or become paranoid? Actually this is the deepest part of the game...one does not know what happens next, isn´t it?

exactly, one good think to understand what happens while you waiting is to hit the P key once you are in the mission. By pressing the P key you access the Players table, by this you see who is connected and waits for his connection to be established. Then you do understand why it simply takes a while longer then on other servers. Other thing one can do is to join at a total different time of day. I´ve the luck that I´ve got to work in shift, so I mostley work in late shift which enables me to play at the mornings, while the servers are not that much overfilled and are not working at their limits. -
@RKO, you´re sooooo right. I dont want to see any modified action to bandits at all. bandits are bandits and are supposed to be considered "bad guys"...if someone killed someone else by accident or in some way of selfdefense, so he´ll get back to a survivor after a time of playing...that´s the game as it is...I dont want to see it changed.

how will such a script been executed? I never heard that before and I used to play OFP, ArmA and now ArmA2 since the beginning 11 years ago.

You guys did not have wasted the money. The "Recieving data" and "wait for server response" issue is not a bug. It is a technical result of having servers which are running all at their limits. There´s only one way...you need to be patient. If it doesnt go further after a couple minutes, disconnect and try another server. Imagine that there are currently way more players around who want to join the game then servers available to provide the game....so adjust your prospects. by the way, ArmA2 does provide way more fun than DayZ Mod only...did you guys ever tested the ACE Mod? Have you experienced the feeling of a military Special Operation Mission by using ACRE? No? so go ahead and know the game you purchased...DayZ is simply a Mod to an awesome game. -

wow guys, I have to say....not that bad. I am not a bandit and dont want to become one. But I somehow like the idea to always have the possibility to get in (possibly last) contact with some dedicated bandits...that raises the athmosphere pretty much...hope I never meet you guys..:P Have fun with that...thumps up Memphis

This is what I consider bad luck, since I always met friendly players so far. But I´ve got to mention that I havent been yet in one of the big cities. beeing there might end up in the efect you desribed.

I honestly got to say that I am happy that there are people outside hwo dont care whether there are good or bad guys. In every world there must be the balance of good and evil. Imagine this mod would not have even one single bandit...how boring would that be? I enjoy strafing through the woods, searching the villages for items and always being scared and exited about what happens around the next corner. I consider that mod as a simulation about what happens if?...this scenario becomes true...people would try to survive and even killing for that.. This is what that games makes exiting...not only the Zombies... besides this, I already got killed as well...

I apreciate that you wanted to make sure that an abvious hacker gets banned. I dont really understand what happened. What diod you do to get banned? You reported a hacker and for that you got banned? I hope that your appeal will be listend to and you get back on the game soon.

Server hopping might have several reasons. To avoid getting killed by Zombies or other players => (temporary) ban would be OK (on persistant behaviour after that -> permaban) But leaving and changing the server for technical issues => ban is not OK. So this is a difficult situation here and need to be handled carefully. -
It is a quite important thing to provide an open banlist to make cheater and hacker focused on what may happen. But in the same time it is quite important to implement a fair concept to avoid people geting banned by mistake. The easiest thing (on my mind) is that once a forbidden weapon was picked up so an instant message appears which says that this weapon has to be put down again or a ban will happen. I understand and support that ban policy, but I nontheless would like to see a ballanced system to avoid cheating and hacking on the one hand and mistaken bans on the other. According to those who complain about a friend or them self got banned and they dont know why, so it is difficult to sort out which one is real and which one is a nasty trick to get unbanned again...so a real balanced system is quite needed.
