I used to think 3rd person was sort of cheap (in other games). But, this game is designed in that perspective and it is a buffer for the things you can't do in game but could do in real life. In real life, you would be able to peek over a fence, yes? How about using a small mirror (which many soldiers have on them and use them profusely). Well, that is what 3rd person does for you. Granted, you don't expose yourself at all by using 3rd person. As opposed to in real life, if you were to peek over a fence, you would be slightly exposed. It is a compromise. Also, the fact remains it is a game and when in first person mode, your situational awareness goes way down because you can't feel if someone is next to you, like in real life. Once again, it is a compromise. Not a great one, but a compromise nonetheless. If this game were ever to get league play, they would surely allow 3rd person. You don't get that much of an advantage. Especially, if both of you are using it.

I know they are being tracked. I want to know how many murders I have. I want to know how many zombies I killed. I want to know how many real deaths I have (not forced respawns to get out of Kamenha or Solinchy).

No, not in the sense of gear (gear is easy to get). No, not in the sense of zombie kills (anyone can sit and shoot stupid zombies without much concern for danger, especially on an empty server). What I'm talking about is murders and bandit kills. Now, there is a stipulation... You can't be some dbag meta jumpers. Don't think just cause you log into a sniper spot (without moving in game) then kill a few people, then log out a few minutes later, that you are good. I see people posting screenshots with 100+ murders, and they think they are the shit. You meta, you are a chump. Try to grow a pair. Go into Cherno or Electro with a nice mil-spec primary and coyote and sweep the town. By yourself, or with friends, does not matter. With that said... My best char died last night in Cherno, by the church on a care bear server. US 536, I believe. I saw the church doors closed, and I couldn't resist. I opened them and yelled in with a tweaked out chipmunk voice... "FRIENDLY, BRO!!!" Heh... There were two, apparently. One ran out and we shot each other. My FAL won. I get swarmed (zombies) and have to bandage. While I am doing that, his buddy comes out and finishes me off. I didn't see him in there. I spawn at Cherno (lucky!) and run back. My coyote and other gear (GPS, RANGERFINDER, NVG) are all gone. I look inside and there she is... my FAL... my baby! Anyway, I digress... 19 murders 2 bandit kills 89 zombies 48 headshots Those are all legit, balls to the wall I run up on you and we battle, kills. Not, I will log into a bush take 5 shots, kill one person and log out for the day. Honestly... you guys are almost as bad as DC'ers. Almost. Flame on, flamers.

The rate of action at those places isn't as pervasive as it is on the coast. More and more people are moving down to coastal towns. It is a smorgasboard of novices and true killers. I luff it!

I don't use either. I use the beta batch file to enter the game. I know, how archaic. heh. But, I think commander is better overall, especially for the GUI. It is clean and user friendly. Now, as for 6updater. The only thing it excels at is letting you into the game when Gamespy decides to fuck everyone in the world and take their servers down cause they suck. Why are we still using gamespy, again? Sheesh!

OP is correct. BI and the DayZ team should have a team that rides the BE team to update their BS app more often. WTF does BE do anyway? Aside from removing legit players most times? Funny how if you click mumble to see FPS BE will kick you but someone can spawn in anything and teleport, turn invisible and that is fine. GG!
