Good Old Friendlies: Let's Make a Comeback!

Ok! I spent some time being nice to people. Here's a link to the thread in the Gallery: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/135633-excuse-me-sir-do-you-have-a-moment-to-talk-about-jesus-christ/
  3. I spent some time asking the various denizens of Chernarus. This is what they had to say:

I like this idea, actually. If anybody else is interested in joining the effort, get me a steam name and I'll send you an invite. I'll probably end up playing tonight around 10:00 PST. Might be cool to have a few friends.

What I inferred from that statement is that when I do the recordings, you'd like to be part of my expedition. If I'm right: WELCOME ABOARD, ME HEARTY! I'll git yer steam name from yeh and I'll let you know as soon as I start recording! If I'm wrong: oh god I've made a terrible mistake.

And if he didn't, I will. It's players like you that will make this effort a success.

Good Old Friendlies: Let's Make a Comeback!

I like those steps, Blood, but I will say that I'm hoping to achieve a lasting connection with a stranger, the likes of which might impact his view on the community. Do you have any experience with that sort of thing?

Good Old Friendlies: Let's Make a Comeback!

Thanks for the insight everybody! Keep it coming. While you're at it, feel free to brainstorm about possible ways to incorporate humor into the encounters as well. I feel like people would respond better to a gimmick than to threats, but that's just speculation. To entice you, I'll make a video for every suggestion that I really like, showing it in action. I'll make a thread in the Gallery and post a link here when the first one goes up.
  9. I've been with DayZ since the early days. I remember a time when qeqeqeqeqe meant "Let's get some shit done! We're friends now, man!!" and I remember a time when the forums were full of complaints because hatchets couldn't be used as melee weapons. AND I AM WITH YOU NOW!! And...I need your help. I want to revive the old ways. It may seem like a stretch, but now that the concentration of hackers has gone down significantly, I think we can rebuild. It has to start with trust. I want to inspire you, first and foremost. To that end, I'll be recording my interactions with players in-game and posting them on my youtube channel (which, to keep this thread in this forum, will not be posted here). What I need from you is your hivemind. We're all capable of compassion in DayZ; I've seen it from the deadliest of bandits when their blood gets low. I need to hear your thoughts on how to approach someone. I don't want you to tell me how YOU would approach someone though. I want to hear how you would prefer to be approached. With your help, maybe I won't be so ronery ;_; EDIT: Steak expressed interest in joining me on my quest. Without being thrown into the "looking for friends" forum, I'd like to humbly add that such assistance is appreciated, and you can sign up by posting your steam name here!

    Hatchets rarer, crowbars more common?

More likely is the type of spawn you search. Sounds to me like you do mostly residential looting. Hatchets are an almost exclusively Farmland item. There's a 10.something% chance for every single farm spawn to be a hatchet. In a barn with 12 loot spawns, that comes out to more than a 70% chance. Look for the red roofs.
  11. Gentlemen, I've been in the area of NWAF for almost the entire life of my day 9 character. A habit has formed: 1. Sign in when the urge strikes 2. Do the rounds (all loot spawns at NWAF including the south barracks) 3. Inevitably get bored, go to a tree outside the wall and sign out 4. Rinse and Repeat (probably tomorrow, sometimes within an hour) I've done this probably 10-12 times now. I will leave when, and only when, I find an M203 launcher for my 6 M203 HE grenades. My favorite weapon. As is, I have a Mk 48 mod 0, gps, 3 grenades, 2 mountain dews, and all the tools except NVG, rangefinder, and entrenching tool. I'm by no means decked out, but I'm in pretty good shape. My point is that most people probably would have left the NWAF by now, unless they're professional server hoppers or looking for pvp encounters (I've only seen one guy so far, and he was shooting a horde with an AK-74, I watched for a good half hour before he died presumably of a broken leg). So, am I a server hopper? PS. if you have an M203 grenade launcher (even the M16A2 M203, I don't need anything fancy) and want a Mk 48 mod 0, let me know. Maybe we can come to an arrangement. I have 300 rounds for it.
  12. epipen for shock is a good idea. Other than that, it's balanced. 1 meat is 800 blood, sure, but it's not uncommon to find two or three animals in a field, one of which is usually a cow. 6400 for the cow, 4000 for a sheep, 3200 for a boar, 2400 for a goat. There's really no reason those numbers are a problem. They're more than enough. Good day sir.

No worries man, I was getting bored of keeping it alive anyway. I have over 2000 views on the video, which is more than can be hoped for on a channel as young as mine. You did the right thing.

You must dislike me or something. I remember you from another thread...what was it you were complaining about then?
