Mod reached it's peak... See ya in full game
SillySil replied to FrostDMG's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's not a problem, I'd just be less of an asshole to you since you have a valid reason to misunderstand me. Bad on me... You call not knowing about a post in an over 130 page long thread "lack of ability to look for the information". I don't know where to look. I don't know the names of people who can say something like that and be credible. First I have to find them or the place and then look for the post... Why not just announce it? You know communicate? And the time table... I know these things take time and are often postponed for the good. So I don't demand the time table. And yeah timetables cause problems. But a list of issues that they know about, would be really helpful. With a disclaimer that they aren't working on everything simultaneously or that something might not be finished before next patch is released. It just shows you that all the feedback is going somewhere. And it reduces the number of duplicate threads about an issue, already well known. And it's not that much to ask because they probably already have a list like that, more or less. I just think a list of issues known to devs is an important thing during alpha/beta. I'm not demanding them to update it daily. Just once in a while, once big changes happen. It's not that much to do. I agree with everything you've said here. -

I don't want to sound rude or anything. And don't take it as an attempt on an insult or something like that. It's a serious question. Do you have aspergers? Or any sort of such kind of thing? You just seem to be constantly missing the point. It's not that I'm whining even tho I've got what I've asked for. I never got it. A vague ETA in an obscured place once every full moon is not communicating. About the water... you missed the point entirely. It's like, someone asks for water, you give them a drop and when they said it's not what they had in mind you tell them to stop complaining because they got what they wanted. Do you not see the problem? And again. I'm not demanding anything because those people have no obligation to me. I'm saying that they are not communicating which would fix many issues. Showing that the mod isn't completely abandoned among them. Because you know, I was pretty sure that they've stopped working on the arma mod until you've showed me that post. Which is impossible to find unless you know exactly where to look. -
Mod reached it's peak... See ya in full game
SillySil replied to FrostDMG's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're weird dude. Seriously. A oneliner with a vague ETA in a 130 pages long thread is not what I had in mind. Your mind is so black and white it makes me dizzy. So if someone would demand water and you'd give him a drop, you'd consider the deed done? And how do I even find that thing if I don't know who and where to look? Should I read every page of every topic including those that have over 130 pages? So? I don't understand what you linking it 3 times in this thread changes. -

A big red phone in the corner of your room that rings every time Rocket farts? Uh, what? No seriously where are you getting this from? Why can you people only think in black and white? Either it's no communication or... whatever you made up there about that phone. Can't you think of something in between? Like I don't know, a pinned, locked thread on the forum with a list of issues they know about and/or work on? Wouldn't that fix a lot of moaning and duplicate threads about the same thing? Wouldn't that show the community that devs are still engaged in the mod and haven't abandoned it? Because staying silent shows everything but engagement. And seriously a red phone ringing every time Rocket farts? Is that what you call common sense, reason and logic? -
Are all the 20 minute players gone?
SillySil replied to maclawa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah by things like "you are just explaining your assholish behavior because of guilt or something", "you just want everyone to be friendly", "you just want the game to hold your hand". I'm repeating myself because people can't read. Including you. What the fuck am I crying about? Or where did I say I want the game to hold my hand? The illiteracy of you fanboys is really starting to annoy me. Please quote what where I said that. Otherwise take your baseless assumptions back to your fanboy corner. -

Oh I'm supposed to read through 130 pages of that thread he said it in? And all he gave was a vague ETA that they are going to miss by 2 weeks? Wow, yeah I feel updated... not. -
Are all the 20 minute players gone?
SillySil replied to maclawa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How did this go from devs communicating with community to reading the forum and doing everything that people say? What are you even saying? That you can't have communication from devs because if they do visit the forum they will do everything that random people say and that it should be avoided at all cost? How did you even come up with this? What does that have to do with what I said? A post like "we know about this, this and that. This will be fixed in standalone, on this we are currently working. Not sure if it's gonna be implemented before standalone. That will probably be fixed in the next patch if everything goes right" It would take like 10 minutes to make a post like that and it wouldn't ruin the game in any way. I assure you. And I'm not entitled to a post like that. But staying silent while babbling something about dogs that nobody gives a fuck about, just doesn't fill me with friendliness towards the dev team. It just shows bad attitude. And I'm supposed to give money to these guys for standalone. And about NOT READING THE FEEDBACK. Are you nuts or what? Why on earth would you even have alpha/beta if you don't want to hear feedback? Isn't that what the alpha/beta test is about? To test mechanics and see how they work by hearing out what people say? To find bugs and hidden problems? And people on the forum can have good ideas too. That the dev team might consider if they like the idea and it suits the game that they want. It makes no sense to ignore feedback during frigging testing stage... "Oh god no. People are giving negative feedback about a game in alpha stage. Quick! I need to discredit them in a way that will make me look smart" -
Standalone Price Tags - A Solution To Cheating?
SillySil replied to s4pphire's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Overpricing the game is like the worst way to fight cheating. Shouldn't they get a good anti cheat and make the game not script friendly instead? -
Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.
SillySil replied to RaxUK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Finally someone who speaks my language. Complex decision is the idea. I'd say a lot of gray area. Like there can be people who dedicate themselves to banditry and wear the bandit skin on voluntarily, which could lessen the downsides a bit. That way you'd have bandits who suffer greater consequences but don't show their intentions and those who do show their intentions but don't suffer as much because of killing people. There could be also dedicated peace keepers. Didn't really think about the mechanic behind that yet. The problem with being friendly is that you just put yourself at a disadvantage. That disadvantage adds to the difficulty but does it really give you a challenge? Interacting with other people is a lottery in DayZ. You're not being put to a test, you just roll dices. And I'm not talking about sneaking up on people and controlling situation. There's gonna be a moment when you turn your back towards them. And then, even if you are awesome at the game. The dices roll. I sometimes put myself at a disadvantage or just don't use overpowered weapons. But that's because the game offers me a challenge where my skills are being tested. How good I am. Not my dices. I'm all for gray area. Imo both skins are too easy to get. Hero especially. But the bandit skin too. What if you're not a bandit but you were forced to defend yourself against non bandits? Then you get killed on sight as punishment for not dieing earlier. Now you can either just be a bandit or try to gain humanity by living in the woods. Some kind of penalty that doesn't involve branding would allow more middle ground. Imo skins are a flawed design and just a wrong way of approaching the issue. -

I wasn't really expecting anything else from a fanboy. You can go back to your fanboy corner now and continue circlejerking. -
Are all the 20 minute players gone?
SillySil replied to maclawa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not condemning it. I'm just not pretending that it's something else. Calling it by it's name. And I enjoy it for what it is. A deathmatch. With people trying to make it something else than deathmatch, blaming PvP state on people and them being assholes instead of blaming the mechanics and asking devs to put something in the game that would give a reason not to shoot people on sight. -
KNOW your enemy (i.e people who shoot on sight)
SillySil replied to hungrycam's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You said that I'm selfish and that I should think of other people didn't you? So in other words you are saying that I should help other people. It's called demanding something. Well I'm not playing this game to make other people happy, nor I should cooperate with people in this game because it's not a coop game. And this is not justifying my behavior/attitude. I'm just replying to you saying that killing on sight is equal to other strategies. And that it's being an asshole somehow. I don't care about your pixels that you voluntarily turn on and you can turn off at any moment. You are the one assuming stupid shit. I don't care what you think about me. And there is no fucking guilt involved because again, for the third time, I don't carry my morality into a virtual world. And again, I don't care or feel bad about your pixels. -
KNOW your enemy (i.e people who shoot on sight)
SillySil replied to hungrycam's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You seem illiterate.I'm not an asshole because I've beaten you in a competition, and this is a competition, a game. I'm not actually killing anyone you know? Yeah I've heard about not just thinking of myself. But like I said, I don't carry my morality into a video game. I'm a pretty nice guy IRL. You know, I often come out of my way to help other people, complete strangers included. But games, are a competition. Don't demand from other people to make you happy. Because you're not the center of the world. Nobody's playing this game so that you'd have fun. Selfish, mhm, yeah. Because like I said, this is a competition. And we're not on the same team. And my goal is to survive another day while not straying from firefights. You know why? Because they are fun. Another reason that the game gives me to PvP. And why would I kill someone even tho I have everything I need at the moment. Well first of all I don't know what he's gonna do if he sees me. And second, it's fun. And third, there is downside to that except making noise. Everything in this game supports killing on sight. Surviving, getting loot, fun. And yeah, I'm going to use the most profitable strategy. If you think that beating someone in a video game is selfish or being an asshole, I think you should play kiddie games or maybe coop only games. Because this game isn't a coop, you know? -
KNOW your enemy (i.e people who shoot on sight)
SillySil replied to hungrycam's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Did you even read the rest of my post? I can't loose anything by killing people on sight. I can only gain. The game supports killing on sight. Or maybe should I use word "favors" instead because you seem not to understand. And no, nobody is forcing me to do the most profitable thing. You know what happens when there is an overpowered strategy or an overpowered weapon in a video game? Everybody uses it. Nobody is forcing people to do it, they do it because it's just better than other strategies/weapons. Can I use something else? Yeah but why would I do that? To put myself at a disadvantage? Same thing happens here. Killing on sight is the most efficient way of surviving while gearing up really fast. That's the mechanics of DayZ. You can play in a different way but you're putting yourself at a disadvantage. And that part about being an asshole... See I don't carry my morality into a virtual world. If I did I'd probably have killed myself long time ago since I've killed many people in games like counter strike or battlefield or whatever. And I never felt bad about all those people I've killed. You know why? Because I haven't really killed anyone. I've killed some pixels they were controlling in a video game, that's a voluntary competition, they can just fucking turn it off if they don't want to play. I'm not hurting anyone. Nobody forces you to play the game. And it is just a game. -

SillySil replied to maclawa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow you people are pathetic. You think yourself better because you are enjoying a game full of bugs and gamebreaking hacking? People are leaving because this game offers nothing else but deathmatch on a large map with countless ways of duping items while being constantly nuked by hackers, while if you dare to come to the forums to give feedback and criticize the game (that's in an alpha stage) in any way, mentioning bugs, undeveloped/broken/missing features you are told to shut up, suck it up, qq and gtfo codfag "because it's alpha". I don't think that's how the alpha is supposed to look like. And something being called an alpha suggests that the game is in development, which it's not. There is near to 0 communication from the dev team. We don't know what bugs/issues they are aware of so you constantly see people making the same topics over and over. Hell, we don't even know if they care at all. Maybe they just want to introduce the dogs and leave everything else as it is. I don't know. And then there is the forum where you get flamed for giving negative feedback about things in a game in alpha stage. Hello, that's what you are supposed to be doing while testing. Saying that everything is okay, excusing everything that's broken, and discouraging people from giving feedback is not helping at all when testing games in alpha. If you do that you're the worst kind of tester. Even those who test the game and never give feedback are better. TL;DR (because I know you need one, since you people often have problems reading even past threat title) You think you are the "elite", better than everyone else? Liking and white knighting for a game in alpha stage doesn't make you anything. Thinking that you are better because of that, flaming and discouraging people who give negative feedback makes you look stupid.- 39 replies

KNOW your enemy (i.e people who shoot on sight)
SillySil replied to hungrycam's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'll gladly trade 3 bullets for everything you have even if I'm well stocked. That way I never have to scavenge. I let you do all the job of running around shops/residences/hospitals/etc and take everything from you in exchange for few bullets and making a sound. Plus, I don't give you a chance of killing me. Because I don't know what you're going to do once you see me. What's more, even if you are friendly and weren't going to shoot me, I still don't loose anything if I kill you. Every mechanic in this game supports killing on sight. Even the skin isn't a reason why I shouldn't shoot everyone I see. I have always considered everyone a threat. The whole skin system doesn't change anything for people who KoS. -
DayZ, as a mod is now dead - roll on standalone
SillySil replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agree with abandoning the mod and focusing on stand alone. Just remove the dead soldiers before you go. -
Mod to arma2 called DayZ is abandoned or just the least liked bastard child. It's a titanic... soon to be replaced by standalone. No point clutching to it or rearranging chairs in there.

I Shot A Zombie And It Said It Hurts?
SillySil replied to Miss Cleo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well getting shot hurts you know? -
Fanboys who can't read past 2 sentences in a row is not an uncommon sight on these forums.

Would it break the immersion if those were players that kill you for shooting in a player-managed safe zone ?

Am I the onyl one who LOVES this weapon
SillySil replied to MGreenwald's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There was this one time my friends were on electro hospital (we are all on teamspeak, I'm pretending to be AFK) I log in with a different name, go to electro hill and start shooting above their heads. No way the bullets were hitting the hospital or any buildings for that matter. They were all "I can hear snaps, someone is shooting at us, take cover!". I also tested this with silenced m9 shooting above someone's head (like in the sky) from like ... I dunno 10-20 meters. He still heard snaps. I could understand whizzes but those were snaps, exactly the same like from regular ammo. The description says they are subsonic and they have different behavior but they still make snaps... It doesn't make sense. -
Well that's not the intention but that's what they are at the moment. If they were more like L4D regular infected, you know, fun to kill, not glitched the fuck out of this world, slow you down on hit, dangerous in groups then there would be a PvE element in this game. But they are annoying pieces of shit that hit you through walls, clip through you and other things, hit you from meters away, constantly changing their speed and direction, instead of "working" together they just block each other, offer no challenge, fun, or reward for killing them. That's why nobody kills them. It's not even that they are too easy. They are just too fucking annoying. But then the arma engine and close combat being just really bad and woodden takes part of the blame.

Yeah zombies are in game only to show people's positions.

How do you think they can solve the spawning at the coast problem?
SillySil replied to AllYoYens's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"the game has loaded. click OK to spawn now"
