I'm just saying that communication and frequent updates (even if they break things) are normal for alpha/beta. -
Poll: Reason to why you would leave DayZ?
SillySil replied to twinturbonet (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You said "but you're the same jerks who would kill my 20 day character for little to know reason whatsoever" like I'm some kind of griefer. You didn't actually say asshole you said jerk. But your remark screams "you're just an asshole out there to ruin people's fun". And you are a prick for acting like there is no problem as long as it doesn't concern you. How is it not valid if the issue is still in the game? Not everyone makes a post about the reason why they left they just stop playing and lurk the forum. If people are talking about an issue that was a week ago and still is in the game, provided that there were no patches in the last week, I have up to date info on it. So you're going to tell me that it's faster and less dangerous to go to a hospital/shop/military spawns instead of just killing someone who already has the gear? I didn't know length of time was a matter of opinion. I was gonna add "maybe that's your thing" but I was hoping you'd get the point without it. I guess I overestimated you. Your argument about having 20+ days is null. Everyone can do that with a knife, a hatchet and a water bottle. It doesn't mean anything. We both know what you were talking about, don't play dumb. You even admitted that you don't have the artifacts in berezino and stary. Again, if your goal is to gear up and not to die, KoS. Especially if you're not looking for friends. So yeah it's up to the player to choose good or bad. And don't put yourself on a high horse. Like you are better than me because you're friendly in-game. It wasn't unprovoked. You don't give a shit about other people's problems as long as it doesn't concern you. And you wanna play the good guy here? Give me a break. -
Either I misread something or the poll changed, edited my post. Need to go to bed.

During alpha stage? -
Eliminate threat first then go help my friend.

Put civilian clothing and a satchel charge on a street in electro wait for a sucker to check it out. Or grind hero skin and start shooting at people without actually hitting them making them kill you and change into bandits.

Poll: Reason to why you would leave DayZ?

But why does it matter? There is no patch, nothing changed you just have more of the same. That's my point. And if a problem that made you leave hasn't been fixed yet, your complaint is valid. Again you make no sense with this. Not best way to play. Best way to play if your goal is to survive and gear up (which is a part of surviving). I'm not telling you how to play, you can be a medic of cherno who dies 30 times a day. I'm just telling you, if your goal is not to get killed (without staying away from towns and people) then KoS is the best option. There is just no trade off. And hell if the point of the game would be simple to survive I could have over 40 days now if I'd take pleasure in playing the most boring game ever. Drinking at ponds, eating cows and just lying down in a bush deep in a forest or an edge of the map on an empty server with no danger or challenge to that. Just because you don't experience the problems it doesn't mean they don't exist. Prick. You are gonna tell people that there is no problem as long as you're not the one experiencing it. And you call me an asshole? Great alpha tester you are by the way. Deerstand and crashes. I knew you'd bring that up. First it's military locations then it's all places with military loot. Backpedal more. Well change the game mechanics so it actually has downsides in-game and less people will do that. Don't blame people for following the most efficient path of gearing up and getting rid of threats that the game has set. -

Why do you assume he does? It's not like he's obliged to fix bugs.If there is no indication that he does know about the issues why would I assume he does? He can be ignoring all the issues and just working on dogs and standalone and doing interviews for all I know. -
Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.
SillySil replied to RaxUK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's a bug not a part of the design. And you had DMR then a pistol then AS50?I know about the bug tho, it's annoying especially the one where you loose your backpack but it's a bug to be fixed. -

I just fucking love how you people twist what I said when I bring the list up. Last time a mod did it. He said I want a red phone in the corner of my room calling every time rocket farts. I don't want them to constantly post. I just would like to see that the feedback doesn't fall on deaf ears. A list of known issues updated once a week or 2 weeks would really let people know that the devs are listening and it would clean this forum up. And why do people think devs are ignoring it all? Because even with all those duplicate threads all we hear is dogs and standalone. If you'd keep telling someone you know about something he does wrong for a month and he would never say that he's gonna change it, would you think he's going to change or that he stopped listening to you a long time ago? The BF3 had it right. In their suggestion forum they had "not planned", "considered", "planned" and "implemented" labels. And in their bug report forum they had "known issue" and "fixed" labels. It really helped. But yeah they had the manpower. So instead of that, a list that takes 10 minutes to updated every week or two would be great. -

If you'd have the list pinned somewhere on the forum and someone would make a thread about something they already know, they could be just directed there and people would either stop bumping the thread discussing the same thing again or maybe even lock the thread since it's useless. Seriously there are only benefits of a list like that. How don't you understand it? It makes perfect sense. If you report the same thing 18,000 times and there is not a single "yeah we know" you assume they don't give a fuck. Because people are not going to listen to twenty 1 hour long interviews (that are mostly about standalone) to get that information. Making a thread on this forum with all the issues they are aware of wouldn't even take 1/3 of the time it takes for one of those interviews. -

I expect to have a hard choice when deciding whether I should be friendly or not. And it will happen by either having some sort of reward for cooperating (like needing other people to do something that you can't, you know perks or skills or whatever, maybe something else) or having penalty for killing people which you mention later. I guess I'm high. Once I have the gear, yeah. Because there is nothing else to do that doesn't involve my life depending on some other people's grace. Another problem with the game. Once you get all the gear, PvP is the only challenge this game has. However, once I die and find a weapon I kill people on sight and take their stuff because that's the fastest way of gearing up. It doesn't matter what I do later. Nothing is going to change that. In the current state it's not a disadvantage. It will only be a disadvantage when there are many non-bandits. Even then the gullibility of this system is just bad. Innocent people will be branded bandits and there will be bandits in hero skin. It's a flawed design. Always will be. And yeah I understand you can combine it with other penalties but I think that penalties alone can balance the scales and in my opinion would make the game more interesting. Less TDM more "I'm not really sure if I wanna shoot the guy, join him or tell him to stay away from me". I absolutely agree with everything you said here. The penalty can't be linear it needs to have a limit or being committed killer will be impossible and people should have that option. And the penalty for the first few kills shouldn't be too harsh either. You vision is just too utopian, you just assume that 80% of players will be survivors or at least not committed killers. That will take more than skins and is even possible without the skins at all. Well that's exactly why I have a problem with it. If the goal is to balance survivor and bandit numbers the changes should be focused on balancing the playstyles, not this whole branding thing that's just... I don't know cheap? It just changes the gamemode to TDM with the red team teamkilling themselves most of the time. This game could be so much more. That's why I don't like the skin system. -

I get what you're saying but one pinned thread on the forum listing things they are aware of or are working on (provided those things might not be implemented in next patch) would fix a lot of whining and duplicate threads about the same thing. It would also show that we contribute by giving feedback. That it's not ignored. -
People who care about feelings of a person they defeat aka "kill" in a video game should really stop playing games that involve killing other players. For their own mental health.

Poll: Reason to why you would leave DayZ?
SillySil replied to twinturbonet (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Explain to me how does it matter if the last time I've played was a week or a day ago if there is no patch or update in between. You misunderstand. The game has turned into a deathmatch on a big map with everyone packing as50+AWS with hackers constantly nuking people. It doesn't have anything to do with how you or me play. And don't blame people for killing you on sight. Every mechanic in the game favors killing on sight. Not only the potential threat is eliminated but they get to take all the things you have on you. And there is nothing to loose by killing you. Except few bullets which you're going to replace shortly if you keep killing people. There are no downsides to killing people on sight. That's why people do it. Blame the mechanics. You mean you no longer go blind in cherno, balota, NWA, berezino and stary? What other military spawn locations are you talking about? NEA? Anything else? -

How the hell does that matter if I play or not if nothing has changed, no new patch or anything has been released. I know what's in the current version. I don't need to play every day to continue knowing it. It's not changing. It doesn't matter if the last time I played was a week ago or today. My feedback would be the same. You make no sense. I'm not yelling anything. Can't get rid of hackers because it's just how the arma works. However it could be easier for server admins to keep the hackers out of the game without resorting to private hive. And glitches? Important parts of the game are nullified. Scavenging is almost nonexistant you just need to go to electro/cherno to find a bunch of bodies with high end gear. You can't really test the mechanics if something that important is broken. There are many hotspots that got totally deserted due to artifacts. How do you test a game that's so broken? And the game doesn't owe me anything? It does actually. It owes me a reason to keep testing. That's either fun or a sense of contributing. The game is a deathmatch on a big map with almost everyone packing as50+AWS while being constantly nuked by scripters. Not that fun. Sense of contributing? Well everyone coming to the forum to talk about issues with this game is always being flamed by fanboys and there is no communication with the devs here. I don't have a feeling that anybody gives a shit about the feedback. So yeah, if the game isn't fun then I don't have a reason to keep playing aka testing it. There is a difference between someone occasionally having an aimbot or wallhack and an ability to instakill everyone on the entire server in a game with permadeath. If you can't see the difference you're the one that should go. -

I don't understand your argument. How are opinions of people who stopped playing recently invalid? The problems that made them leave are still present, if they weren't they'd be playing again. You make no sense. You mean the game which a big part of is supposed to be scavenging but which is nonexistent at the moment thanks to duping and scripting? The game that's objective is to survive yet you can die any moment by "kill all" script without having any influence on it? -

Maybe they're not playing the game because it's unplayable but are still on the forum following what's happening and waiting for standalone? -
That's one of the dumbest logic I've ever seen. The legit players are leaving because of the hackers. Hackers continue hacking. Even if both would leave at the same rate the % of hackers stays the same. You make absolutely no sense.
-
What's better for me, your beans for free or everything you have for few bullets?
-
So I make a sound. And people around know that there is someone in my general direction. Compared to letting a guy go who might have seen you and knows exactly where you are who now will try to kill you at the first possible opportunity or who might relay your exact position to his friends who want to kill you, it's nothing. It's not even a trade off. It's just less of the same thing. KoS is the most efficient way of eliminating threats while gearing up fast. Besides, shots scare off people who don't want to PvP. So it's not like I'm attracting everyone.
-
When I die I start looking for people to kill once I got an axe or even makarow. I've got nothing to loose, everything to gain.
-
Or perhaps the shotgun guy has nothing to loose by killing the axe guy but if he lets the axe guy live he will scavenge in the same place lowering chances of finding something useful or might even try to use the axe on shotgun guy. Eliminating a potential threat and having more loot. Trade off? Few bullets and making noise.

Because every mechanic in DayZ supports killing on sight and there is not a single reason not to shoot. Assuming your goal is to survive.
