Reading the top comment of things discussed in Rockets most most recent stream, I've been thinking a lot of how bases would really work in DayZ Instances: He says these bases would be in another "instance". What exactly does that mean? Does that mean the "entry point" to a base would be somewhere in chernarus that YOU designate? Say, in your camp somewhere? What would these entry points look like? A bunker door? Creating the base: "Another instance" meaning, you find this entry point (or create it, if you're the base creator) and it loads, what exactly? Some kind of, "base editor" program? Or you use a "shovel" or something and flesh out the earth much like Terraria or Minecraft? Surely you'd have a limit on how large your base can be. Instead of having users create their own base layout, at least for now as an introductory system to experiment with, maybe have all bases have the same layout? So you create the base, go in it, it's already made for you, maybe a big room, or 2, and there you have it. All bases would be the same. More efficient that way too. Server Efficiency: So then, where are these "other instances" hosted? The same server? Sounds inefficient depending on how many bases and what's in the base/how many people are on the server. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love bases to be in DayZ. However, I'm thinking a feature so expansive would have to wait till DayZ is standalone. Base Raiding: How epic would it be to find, not only someones camp with maybe some vehicles, tents, and then you see a glorious door, or a hatch on the ground. You and your team climb down to find a huge fleshed-out base filled with guns, food, equipment, and of course, the clan's members. How rewarding would it be to get all of that equipment after killing off the clan? More discussion also on reddit. Thought I'd post it here too.

How can you tell if theyre up to date -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

He works on the Arma 3 multiplayer and therefore gets paid as a BI employee. He does not get paid to work on Dayz. The 2 are not one in the same. -

BI devs are not DayZ devs, therefore they really have no say here. -

There was also talk at Rezzed (which is more recent) about going standalone instead of being a mod. Regardless, they make absolutely no money right now. Not sure what you're arguing here. When they .do. make money, sure, then you can bitch. -

What makes you think DayZ will be a purchasable part of Arma 3? Rocket and team want DayZ to be standalone, not another Arma mod. -

Oh, sorry. I wasn't aware Arma 3 was out yet. -
Check your Eventviewer (start menu, type in search box, Eventviewer) and click Applications. Any errors in there, read them. His issue was the battleeye.dll file in AppData was faulty. Deleting that file and reinstalling Battleye fixed it.

I don't think people like you understand something. The DayZ team do NOT get any money from Arma 2 sales. Not a dime. This is also an alpha game. Game-breaking bugs that frustrate the piss out of you ARE expected and WILL happen again. Until this game hits Beta, expect to lose all of your loot in a consistent manner. If you dont lose your loot upon each update, consider being lucky. So many people expect this game to be perfect. It's ALPHA. It's technically not released. The mod by definition is NOT stable. -
Its been fixed. It was an issue with Battleye.dll within the app data folder.

I should note that he can get into Arma 2 and OA armory just fine without hiccup.
-
We've also done that. We've done everything we can possibly think of.

Anyone?

My dayz works perfectly fine, no issues, I load in no problems with 1.7.2.3 and beta 94876. My friend however keeps crashing upon loading into a server. He's reinstalled the game and that still hasn't fixed it. He now has the EXACT same files as I do (we literally copied them over, the entire arma 2 and OA directories) and he still crashes to desktop upon loading into a server. What do.
