    Should Cannibalism Be In DayZ

    It's gritty, but that's what DZ is about. I can imagine it, even though I'd most likely never or very rarely resort to it in the game. Also, it would obviously come with drawbacks so not everyone and their mother will do this instead. That's just common sense guys, really. What's more 'safe' ? Loot spawns or other, moving and potentially hostile and armed players? Also, you'd have to cook stuff first, and ONLY eating that would give you the shakes. = Sign you are nasty and shitty aim. Also, it would give "heroes" or certain groups the ability to perform searches. Human meat = contraband :D

  5. For starters, we could start with animations when reading a book. You could be holding it in your hand or both and just look down on either a 1) open generic variant or 2) open copy of the actual book The animation could be simple enough, no over excessive head turning to simulate "reading" (a bit might do), no changing pages. Bonus points if the animation shows you changing pages whenever you actually do.

    Notice: From what I read, players won't be "immune" to the infection. Somewhere I read that you can contract "brain fever" or something when being hit by zombies, and that has to be cured in the long run. For gameplay reasons it won't be every hit, but that does not mean you are immune, just as you aren't immune to bacteria in ponds. Just not coded in yet. You might be resilient, but not immune :P

    On the receiving end it's usually NOT fun. Then again, a suicide option (via gun or melee weapon, apparently) is planned and confirmed by rocket on reddit, if I remember correctly. So you have a way out. You simply won't have it any time soon, at least as far as we know.

    You can be as nice as whatever. If the system things you "cheated", it'll act. If wrong people get banned that's a shame. I hear it happened on rare occasions or can occur in rare occasions but most of the time the system should be working as intended. Anyway, gotta contact BE support.

    What's the error code or message you get? Also, deleting game files is a pretty stupid thing from what I know and heard. And probably the reason, no matter what people told you.

    You can actually waste m4 ammo quickly. At least when playing in a squad or, rather, versus a squad. So far you need more for the M4. All other weapons are usually more precise. A full stack of mosin ammo (20) ? Not bad already, have perhaps 1-2 more full stacks (minus 5 in your rifle) and you're set for some time. A full stack of 5.56 (40) ? Good luck, you better bring some more. Some more stacks. Or a full ammo box right away. Though, for a loner that might be already too much. I wasted 11 shots on a guy close range and could've died as he was suddenly shooting. So, you effectively don't spend that much in close range. Compared to suppressing fire and / or stuff on medium ranges.

    I don't understand this. Exploiters / script kiddies (I don't consider those "hackers") don't do themselves any long term favor. Well, it might be funny first, some shits n' giggles. But you just ruin your game experience and those of others, while risking your account, and thus money you invested. Sorry, but these people never get to have the joy of the game. Even if they do it from time to time, it takes away the success, getting through combat, etc. In a certain way you can say these people are utterly bad and horrible at the game, unable to accomplish certain stuff on their own. And therefore they resort to cheap cheating. Who's really the loser? :D I hope the worst of it will be patched. Already saw people using exploits, cheats, etc. Nearly cost me my virtual life. *Yawn* Grow up, play legit, then you might have fun once in a while.

    How can someone steal your Arma key? Like, physically, or what? Also, DayZ keys can't be stolen. Just saying, even if your message seems to be: "BE is connected to these games, so I'm banned globally due to Arma 1".

    If anything, pay day masks could imply bandit. Not gas masks. There's no universal rule to this, really. The guy wearing full gear AND a mask could be the most friendly guy to find while the "average Joe" (by the looks) could look so friendly but be the worst asshole. Might just be a bandit that died and is gearing up again. Besides, some masks may give benefits in the future. Or drawbacks. So when it comes down to it, it doesn't mean much. You could assume that fully geared loners MIGHT be more inclined to shoot, however. If too attached to the gear and generally not friendly players or neutral.

    Just how far out into the Debug Plains can you go?

    Or add giant craters made by nuclear bombs, so as soon as you're past the natural map you can see them some distance away and begin to get sick until you return. Radiation, n' stuff. Other funny way: If you leave the map or a bit, some military away will fire mortar shells at you that will eventually hit you if you don't go back or keep moving. Or just don't do anything at all :D

    CLASSES and SPECIALIZATIONS

    I personally or currently do not think "hard classes" are needed. Simply because the game is or will be so complex that people will already specialize. In my group there's already a system planned where people specialize, and right now we already have roles. Also because of special equipment, which people pick, thus they specialize and focus on that. As for "skills", I dunno yet.

    KOS WTF?

    No, KOS is not the only / true way to play the game. That is a fact. If you don't want KOS or be killed, join a friendly group and / or just stay away from people. As a loner life is more risky but also thrilling. You can still talk to people. Don't run at strangers with open arms yelling "HEY FRIENDLY". Communicate from cover without clear line of sight and see what happens if you want. Or just stay away.

    KOS won't stop or be stopped overall, and we will not see any "gameplay mechanics" or safe zones to stop it the hard way. Unless players themselves create such zones. Not all KOS, but as loner you might not be as lucky. People on both sides should also realize that KOS already comes with possible punishment and disadvantages. Common sense. We probably won't see your core idea implemented at all.

    I still don't get people jumping up and arguing in favor of fresh spawns. Or people dismissing this as totally stupid. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean the idea and any supporters (to whatever degree) are totally retarded. Some did imply this. The idea is that SOME heavier weapons might be a good gameplay addition. Obviously, they'd come with their advantages and disadvantages. No, you won't be able to run with a mortar or heavy MG in your hands at the enemy while auto-firing all your ammo at them, totally nuking them. However, if you can manage to deploy and / or maintain such a more or less crew based system, then it may have its advantages when fighting larger groups of enemies (tip: Massive amounts of zombies once they're in). Be it via MG or mortar. You all only look at the PVP aspect. Sure, it'll be seamless, but PVE also plays a role. Especially if the cities will be full of zombies. And again to anyone arguing "BUT(T) THE NEWSPAWNS!". No. That argument is somewhat flawed because a team might camp coastal areas way more efficiently. And still ignore any pleas in comm range. The idea is that it's balanced enough and that not everybody and some newbie can use it. And if a large group can pull it off efficiently and even have some ammo to, say, attack a city for some minutes, then that's fine. They might as well camp the city for hours with their standard ammo supplies without HW. What's worse?
  21. What I'd like to see for dynamic and endless content regarding that would be radios. Or long range walkie talkies (however that may work). Or the ability to adjust them to a certain long range frequency, so it's optional compared to the close range of about 900 to 1000 meters. That way you can hear real players. It would also encourage use of radio equipment more. Right now I doubt it's good to have one. You can only find them at fire stations and their range is ... set. That means limits in quantity and quality, kinda. In short: Few probably carry one. So, yeah. Long range communication?

    I do believe it can be all. DayZ - It's your story (slogan or whatever). There are already military like operations going on in military groups. Simple because of their unique stories on how things developed, etc. It is what people make it to be. It does not conflict with survival to find a mortar or heavy MG that has to be deployed in order to be used effectively. These things are already balanced because you won't run around with the MG like rambo on your own, need time to (re)deploy and you can be flanked while giving you a limited but good area of suppression. Same for mortars, they come with advantages and disadvantages and would obviously be rare, with both them and ammo being restricted to certain spawns. And not viable to use for loners or to suppress loners themselves. But maybe that is just me. You can't make it right for all, after all. I simply think it can fit in. It depends on what you want to accept. Still, groups will see focus on them with all the planned features. If you make stuff hard to get, repair or maintain it'll automatically put the focus on groups in order to achieve that. And thus comes group warfare, and in turn some sort of justification for these items to be used.

    Etherimp, You make it seem like people (a group) on one server could do it for hours. How many shells do you think they could scavenge or use / waste and how long? The line of sight argument is also an advantage because you'd have none. Or you'd have to have a spotter on scene to direct it. As long as it's not simple to use and with slight deviation every time, you could survive that. Again, a squad could camp a location longer and more effectively than temporary mortar fire could. It's kinda "balanced out". I also don't think the "Go play COD / BF4" stuff is helping.

    I like the general idea. No one is asking for tanks, jets or nukes. Though I can imagine an armored APC (without any weapon) as one of the best things available. However, some more heavy weapons are inevitable if we'll face certain base building in the future. And / or vehicles. What is realistic and still good for gameplay? Heavy machineguns and mortars to deploy and handle via crew. These items would be present somewhere, CDF forces served as UN troops and there were perhaps other forces around before. They could have any stuff around, but those named seem more common or realistic either way. As for the named items: It adds 'area control' but one can still flank those things or take cover when talking about MGs. As for mortars, some are really "overblowing" the issue. "Butt they could camp the coast". Newsflash: Some people do it already and don't need these kind of things. In fact, they're more effective without these things to restrict them. You can still flank a deployed heavy MG. And it's not like anyone can shit mortar shells and constantly "spam" an area with it. Fire off a few and the fun might be over. Maybe you have 20 or 30, still not really a lot if you think about it. Once under fire, you can take cover or just get out of the killzone. In comparison, a mobile ground team is still more effective to clear out a place completely. These heavy weapons (no, not tanks and such!) are good for one thing, too. Group warfare that'll happen whether you like it or not. And it's still a survival game. Essentially, nothing would change. Quite the other way, it might encourage people to join groups as you'd have more gameplay mechanics available for those in the long run. Again, I'm mostly talking about MGs that you can deploy for suppression or assault OR at best mortars for ranged suppression. And also grenades and perhaps bombs, military or otherwise. Some of that was in the mod already.

    Scrap shields/Riot shields would be amazing

    I can see various items to work as shields in a ditch or just things designed to be actual shields. That trash can lid? Use it as a shield against melee weapons. (Police) riot shield? Likewise, but better. Both are not that heavy, but you might be restricted to a pistol or melee weapons that don't necessarily require two hands. Now, what about heavy ballistic shields? Well, might be different, but likewise, no rifles and shields. So your increased protection comes at a price. More defense but less offense and / or mobility and certain more space taken, perhaps. As one would expect in reality.
