Why would you kill all males if you want to "save mankind" ? The more the merrier. And you are armed with a gun in Germany? You are not police or military, are you? I live there, too. The only people to have weapons are basically police, military and possibly hunters, who would hardly use a pistol to hunt, though. -

Most people who post here tend to forget they'd prolly die "quickly" despite all their nice plans. Really, gunstore? Apart from Europe and so on where we don't even have that, you would not be the only one, regardless if you could even handle a gun properly or not. A loner? You won't make it far, unless you can really survive on your own. Yeah, like most of the comm here can do that... "Kill everyone, loot everything" ? Yeah right, my ass. I'm sorry, a lot can happen if that would be the case, but most of the claims I hear about this topic on this forum are either bullshit or nice. In theory. It depends on many factors, and where you live. If that would seriously happen, pray you got a (isolated?) farm, or make it to some sort of refugee camp protected by police / military / militia until it's over ... if it will stop. Sooner or later, you'd have to join up with a group anyway, if you aim for long-term survival. Otherwise, as psycho or loner, you'll always be at a disadvantage (on average!) compared to a group. My thoughts, at least. Yet, I doubt most of us would "make it" in the event of this. Man, if the internet would continue to work, I'd like to see who's left of this comm after a month when it hit their area. -
@ comment Well, it's not like this feature would be high priority right now. And you'd have to add more / custom animations, as far as I know. So really, if you want to do that for now, shoot once (or swing crowbar / hatchet), then hit respawn. A healthy mind can "rp" that being suicide.

Great idea, but do all a favor and start rather small-ish. Pick a smaller area, with less zombies and risks. From there, you can expand. -

The story is already, more or less, set, ya derps :P (no offense). I quote from the page: "A 225 km2 open world post-soviet state and one of the areas hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few who have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population, now infected with the disease." So, basically forget about NATO / UN / RUSSIA coming in to help IF that story won't be changed or so. Then again, factions like the Chernarus Quarantine Force have their own backstory where Russia is safe, for example. I guess it's up to the players to come up with something, though we can assume that it spread BEYOND Chernarus. Heck, it'll likely won't even be the source, just another state that was hit. I for one would like to know how long it has been since day X there though. I mean, there's no populace left, military left the area, too. Most cars are, apparently, destroyed or gone, too. Yet, loot is kicking of course (gameplay reason I guess). I personally wish the story would get more "interactive" or expand, in addition to gameplay. Heck, imagine attacks by government / military remnants on towns, another threat to players. No, not via ground units (so people COULD, in theory, get easy loot or even vehicles), but perhaps bombing runs on places via planes. This would add a more chaotic atmosphere (apocalypse still going on) to all of it, instead of a "Fallout-like" scenario (already happened [long] ago).

@ Question alone: No thanks. They're infected, why would I have to kill them with a headshot if I can just fill them with bullets in other parts to make 'em drop? There's no vodoo magic yet. If you think about it, they're already (some pathing and AI issues out of the picture) a threat. -

QFT Also, what is this "mixing" about? If you want a challenge, why would you mix zombies? If you have 100% and mix them to any x%, they just get weaker if you make x% to slow ones, out of the 100%. Get what I mean? The way it is now, they're basically rather lethal. Not one or two, but a group. They all run, after all, but still have a very logical physique and no super human (or undead) BS, in my opinion. To be honest? The way they're designed (not referring to AI or pathing!) is fine. They're already a threat. No need for "endbosses" or slow ones you could outrun. -
Ghillie suit got removed or just bugged?

Wearing one is bugged. Thus, if you had one or equip one, you may end up bugged. If you had one and logged in after patching, you may be lucky and simply lose it, but not more. Otherwise you lose up to everything. They were not removed from the game, though. You can still find them. So I suggest you find a new one and wait for a bugfix (new version). -

I'm not sure on my specifics, but I had a ghillie suit before. I think after patching I logged in to a 1.7.2 server, but had to start anew. On another server, however, I was back at Polana with all my gear, minus the ghillie suit. I did not suffer any other item loss, and did not equip any new clothing since then, so I may be lucky. In this case, I just have to find a new suit after the bug (equipping them removes gear) is fixed. Oh well, new challenge! -

More complex feature to add, rather expect that in later versions, if at all. I guess the delayed action could work, but would also defeat logic somehow, since survivors seem to be fine regarding being bitten / attacked (where you possibly transmit infected tissue / saliva / blood etc). Thus, you could add it in a different manner, perhaps when you're sick and weakened, then you could end up as one upon dying (NPC), or so. *shrug* -
I like how some appear to be more impulsive about lost stuff. The first rule of DayZ is: Don't get too attached to your gear. Each new try provides a new challenge, whether you like it or not so much. And secondly, from a technical / dev point-of-view, it's an Alpha. It has to be expected to lose stuff due to new versions, bugs, wipes, etc. Just saying, it should be obvious anyway. Of course you can be unhappy about it, but come one, could be worse, eh? Within one RL week you can get most stuff.

"Woods ... ultimately safe". Yeah right, you could cross path with someone at any time. You are never really safe, since people also move around servers and could pop up anywhere. The more the merrier, try moving between places on a 40/50+ server, or a 80+ (I heard about 100 player servers). That's why I don't think we need 24141412 threats in the woods, too. You could add low-spawns for zombies but keep it as it is more or less. Or an occasional bear.

@ xapped .. and where would they perform the operation? Chernogorsk Hospital? Electro Clinic? Medical tent? I mean the places are totally not abandoned by staff, and totally not looted. Or the barn next door? Maybe they could call (it's not like the phone won't work) a doctor (yup, they certainly won't have better things to do in a zombie apocalypse, the gender / sex change takes priority right then). I'm sorry, that's all a bit silly. Accept it. -

Xapped....really? I don't understand you, to be honest. There are bigger concerns coding and story-wise. For god's sake, we're playing in a post-apocalyptic (former) eastern country swarming with zeds. No one there would worry about his damn gender, or in fact, they'd worry about keeping it and staying alive. This ain't your average intact western world where people worry about what to eat next because there's so much to pick, but where they worry what to eat next since it's hard to get. Get what I'm saying? To all those others: I'm not even against it, do your thing. I just want to tell this man: Get your priorities straight (no, that was not some witty joke). In my book, there are bigger concerns. You play a character that's "mostly" male or female. Those who'd, from an ingame point of view, in a former eastern country, worry about all that stuff would be either dead, a zombie or thinking of other things. Survival. Or am I missing something critical here? -

I'm not fond if the idea to go to cherno / elektro / coast to "snip sum nubs for da lulz!!11", to put it ... mildly. Besides, that attitude will get you killed eventually. -
You have everything, are bored? Go start a war with a big group, join one, or help other people. There is always something you can do, and there's, in theory, always MOAR MOAR MOAR to get.

Surrender - Revolutionizing the Bandit Industry :P

PLEASE DO NOTE THIS. (Yes caps so you don't miss that) The surrender animation only lasts for a split of a second with at least the PRIMARY equipped. It makes it abort somehow, for some reason. I did not test it with a pistol, but without any drawn weapon, it does work in a "loop". You cannot really move though. Something similar may be nice, perhaps. But still peeps. Try it without primary. It should work then.
