    That was kinda crazy.

    Found A New Item!!!

I had a press vest already. They tend to spawn near train stations or a certain wreck... Lost it due to character reset or hive problem though. It's okay-ish. Mil vests have two more slots, but I think this is good to have a rare vest that is not necessarily "better" and stands out via blue color: Certain (friendlier?) people can use it for certain purposes. But then again the rarity increases general demand, so ...

Greedy people would shoot even faster. To get it from him. Some others perhaps not so much. But then again it's a bit tricky because, apart from establishing comms first, it could be anyone with a press vest. Hm, I do advise slightly better identification though. "Cherno Journo" is nice and catchy and all, but I'd say something more general first, then perhaps that. "Press here!" or "Journalist here, don't shoot!". Or did I miss that in the video somewhere?

    Found A New Item!!!

It would actually be awesome if usage wasn't bound to (living) players. I mean imagine that. You enter some building and see a massacre, bodies everywhere, and amidst them you hear a click and radio message: "...come in, dammit! What is your status!?". E: Meaning that a radio basically enables some sort of "sidechat" (but bound to radios or certain frequencies) in text and VOIP.

    Found A New Item!!!

TS or not, they will be useful if you're somewhat creative. You can place them somewhere and talk to people who enter a certain area, if they also work when not being on a player (in an inventory or in hand). You could communicate with people you meet. You could communicate with other people you "meet" via radio. Or you can give one to a group while you are "on your own radio freq" (TS or whatever) and relay communication that way, if they can't use TS, Skype, etc. In short: Will be nice!

    Real life zombie apocalypse

If the supply chains and order were to break down in (big) cities you'd basically be fucked, yes. The majority (or up to all) people in big cities rely on grocery stores, services, power, water, the whole infrastructure. If you take it away completely or only leave a little of it intact you'd face severe problems as a city inhabitant. I'd go as far and say that the average household in a big city has food for a few days up to a week or a bit more on average. Sometimes more, sometimes less. That is just a guess. Maybe half a month if you like. Now remove anything out of the reserves that requires power and / or water. Either to keep it from getting spoiled or to actually make it into something you can eat. What is left minus water and so on? Probably candy and canned goods. If no new food comes into cities you are fucked. And by that I don't necessarily mean grocery stores, that could also go for any relief camps or so in case of disaster to supply the populace. Also, without any order, either by citizens being relatively calm and helping each other or a clear police / military / government presence and aid, things may also seem bleak. There's also another funny thing: If no one would maintain waste disposal and so on, shit would literally, eventually, hit the fan because it could come back into your house eventually unless there's some sort of "closing valve" you can enable. In short: You are fucked in a city with a broken / destroyed infrastructure. Smaller towns or rural areas might be better off. Easier to manage, food to grow, etc. Figuratively and literally, they are closer to nature and have certain skills to make it. And people probably know each other more than in a city. Social aspects also play a role. E: I guess what I want to say is: Without help, your average 1st world / western citizen would perish in such a scenario, given some and depending on the severity of the disaster. People with certain skills or training have a higher survival expectancy. For example farmers, soldiers, preppers, etc.

    Real life zombie apocalypse

Possibility First, let's briefly speak about if this is even possible at all. Yes, in theory it is. A "zombie apocalypse" could happen in certain ways, either "natural" or artificial (engineered). Natural meaning some virus mutates (they tend to do that) and artificial being a creation through science and so on. What kind could it be? There are some possibilities. I personally dislike the "undead" variant because nature and physics still apply. Any "infected" variant sounds more realistic, if we were to try to think about something realistic in this scenario anyway. It could be some mutated super rabies thing or some spores perhaps. Possible outcome Depending on how severe it is and how responses will be, it could lead to major loss of life or even (worst case as seen in many movies) total collapse of the first or global society as we know it. But fact is: The game isn't really a good indicator for a real scenario as there are many things to keep in mind. Simple: It's just a game. As society collapses there simply would be people that may take advantage of it or try to. Out of desperation or desire. But let's face it: If it were like DayZ then humanity would be gone in no time. In reality not everyone has weapons (firearms), can use them, is a "badass" or whatever. Not everyone can do anything. People would band together and form some sort of communities or groups to survive. They have to, must, if they want to get through. Loners can only do so much unless you expect all to suddenly turn into hermits or so. It's like in reality or pre-apoc: You rely on people with certain skills. You are sick? You go to a doctor, to name an example. In short It'll probably be nasty. But regarding interaction, it won't be your average DayZ server experience. At least not everywhere and most of the time. I personally hope nothing like this happens any time soon, even after I'm dead. It must be mind shattering to see this take place on a global scale until it reaches your own area. But same for any similar disaster, of course.

    Safest Hospital and Military camp?

So let me get this straight. You ask on the public forum to find out a relatively safe spot. Via answer in said public forum anyone can see. ... Take a good guess what would happen if any answer would be logical or true. Exactly. :D Apart from that yes, any mil-spawn is "unsafe".
  10. Hm, seems legit. So that would, in theory, make about 40% of the community 'helpful', roundabout? I also guess it would depend on certain situations, but damn, greedy / crazy bastards right there :D

I Reported A Bug Spawning In Thirsty

Apparently, seeing how little (nearly no) supplies you have and keeping the condition in mind. The exception would be any spawns IN the country that may have another reason. Or could have one, at least.

    0.30.113933

About the teleport bug: I hear it's because of people "fist-sprinting". Seems too fast to keep track or so and that results in setbacks. I never had any problems before by traveling in a "normal way" and with breaks in between. E: Could still be unrelated or so. Just saying it's one of the possible reasons. People already stopped doing that because apparently being slightly faster does not compare to having to run it all again.
  14. No. See several posts about this topic already. Until there are private hives there won't be private rules server admins can enforce. They can only advertise / encourage a certain playstyle by mentioning it in the server threads or the welcome messages, but cannot take direct (administrative) action against anything else other than cheating via illegal third party tools or similar.

We Showed A Guy The Fastest Route To Cherno

In general, the responses to the thread kinda give me hope in the general community. While any playstyle is legit (as in, there are no rules on how you MUST play the game and how to interact with others apart from using "illegal third party software to gain advantages" it does not necessarily mean that you SHOULD always do what you CAN do at the moment. Shooting anything (and apparently unarmed / ungeared) you see can often be a dick move if no threat is implied. You waste ammo, gain not much in return and possibly ruin the day of another player. This is still a game after all. While we in theory all accept dying, or have to, (also to bugs in the Alpha) it does not mean you should always be a dick about it. The (game) world revolves around more than just you or your little group that is a mere part of it. And by that I don't mean just the OP but everyone who's reading this. And yes, I can afford to write this as I am part of a big group that tries to assist non-crazy (or bandit) players while maintaining a certain set of ROE whenever possible. Not that anyone throws the "hypocrite" argument out there.

    Press vest

Got one a day ago, Cherno TS. Should also offer some ballistic prot, but you lack the two extra slots any other military vest offers. If you care for the look it's not that bad though. You can compensate the two slots or just use a protection case. Or two at once. I hope similar clothing will make it into the game (well, they already said it will but still hoping!) so that you can have some more distinction. Also or especially for more friendly-ish players. Roughly, so far it's basically "Freshspawn" grade, "civilian level" and "military grade". The majority being in between 2 and 3. You can already mix clothing somewhat, though. A guy with a press vest can indeed be some kind of reporter, either generally or within a group (recorder). Or in general non-bandits. You can also designate a medic by mixing certain clothing and using a rebreather mask or whatever it is called.

    Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113925

Question: How long was corpse despawn in the mod / how is it intended to be here? In other words: Do they only disappear upon server crash / restart / hiding player body (possible? I forgot!) or after a longer time, but probably before any of the stated?
  19. Combine (DayZ)

    This community....(kos complaint)

OP. BlessedSyn. Save yourself the time going through these kinds of threads because they basically always turn into a thread full of (semi-)witty comments, people in favor of KOS and people who are not. And some "discussion" (sometimes civil, sometimes or often not so much as possible) in between the groups. History repeats itself. Fact is: There is no set rule on how to play the game. The main goal is "survive" and the motto or so is "It's your story". Conclusion: That also means that "KOS" is not the main way to game is supposed to be played. Nor is "being friendly to all no matter what". It is an option and any player decides whether to shoot, establish communications or stay in cover / hidden if the situation warrants it. Anything that works, is possible, in the game is legit, minus 'hacking' and cheating. I count "ghosting" among that. Suggestion: OP or anyone: If you feel that servers you are on have a general KOS mentality among the players, find a group to roll with that tries to assist other players. I could even point you to a specific one if you like, as I'm part of one. My personal experience tells me there's a vast difference between playing as loner, always on edge, perhaps paranoid and playing in a team or "army" so to speak that's kinda friendly, not a bandit group. Unless in major combat or war between groups, your life expectancy rises greatly. And you have some other people watch your back while you watch theirs. It's logic at work: One can only do so much. Strength in quantity but also quality, if possible.

    Prefered magazine for M4A1?

Grab what you can. But if you can or have to pick, take those with more ammo in them. I recently got into a siege with me being the only person left on some roof. Could've cost me my life if I had any smaller mag size than 60 (30/30). Simply because when the fight was over or about to be, a guy on comms (private comms) reminded me to check ammo, that I totally forgot about. Turns out I had one bullet left in the mag. So, yeah, for me it's "The more the merrier" now.

Prisoner - Diary of a DayZ Medic Day 1

That was kind of exciting, to pick one word to describe. Do you plan on traveling from server to server trying to help random people? Or can you imagine playing on certain servers mostly, working with groups and such, too?

HAHAHAHA Oh geez, look who's playing:

Even if you leave that ... person or his "style" aside, I don't think Wa- ... Infestation looks like an interesting game to me. The whole style seems weird compared to DayZ, which seems more "gritty" or in-depth somehow. But that's just my opinion. Though, gotta admit that him being some kind of PR person for ISS doesn't really help the cause imo.
  24. Combine (DayZ)

HAHAHAHA Oh geez, look who's playing:

Too bad you'll probably never see him (confirmed) on a video getting mugged, totally abused, etc. I mean, it would hurt his (shitty?) image after all as people could make fun of him. He'll certainly won't record it himself and others who do would have to confirm it's him. If he plays along anyway.
  25. It's not that uncommon to have friendly groups or people out there who provide others with gear. At least from my experience and moving with such groups. Often due to the manpower they eventually end up with more than enough supplies.
