    People picking off new spawns right on the coast must really be assholes. It's not like they want their flashlights... Or doing it for science perhaps. Unlikely though. No, medical division, I didn't call for you!

    Cherno has been quiet the past couple days.

    NEAF is the new Balota! Obviously, the focus is where the spawn locations are. Of course you get the stragglers and others break through the "kill zones", but you can clearly see that there's less activity in the "classic south".

    While it may be true for many people or your belief, it's not actually true in all cases, meaning not true in 100%. Example: I roll with a big group ("Army", so to speak) that's basically friendly and hostile to bandits and crazies. We also do coastal relief ops where geared people are present. Of course, the potential thankful survivor (or just crazy mofo) doesn't initially know that, but it's just an example that not all will shoot at you, depending on where you play at what time. When in doubt: Find good cover and begin communication. If armed people run at you it's already a good indicator that they don't KOS (immediately). They would've done so otherwise. So it's either a robbery or someone or some people trying to help. 50/50, perhaps.

    So what's the problem? If you don't like a certain "encouraged" playstyle, go elsewhere. From what I can tell if it'll be (a bit) like the mod, individual servers will branch out more eventually, given private hives and later rule enforcement. Currently, no one can enforce any custom rules. So these servers basically encourage a certain gamestyle. If they do kick for breaking custom rules, you can report the servers. But it's mostly pointless to start yet another debate about what playstyle people like or how one should play the game. People could argue that servers (at least in mod) that give every new spawn full mil gear and weapons plus vehicles is also stupid, but if some people like it and if they have their private hive ...

    Ah, shame then. I've heard rumors... Maybe it was lag or desync. No fresh spawn or heck, anyone with full gear should not survive more than a few bullets on close range.

    Note to self: Run or shoot on sight as soon as someone says "Russian Mafia" ingame. While the death might be sad I think it's also funny. I mean, apocalypse, no planes left and then the mafia comes, haha. And then the: "Bam bam bam..." :D

    Suggestion - disable VOIP during gameplay

    The only "fix" I can see is the "epicness factor" of VOIP in the game. Something you don't have when using team speak. Yeah, sure, third party comms have some advantages, but come on. Picture this scenario: A guy being hunted by bandits in some abandoned town. They lost sight, are searching left and right and are yelling to each other. "Where the fuck's the rat gone, eh?! Cooooome out little rat! Eh yo over here, check that house, too!" (and stuff like that). Sorry, but totally mute people are kinda lame in situations where you have tension between other groups or individuals. Be creative and combine stuff, have your "internal comms" but also shout to people and allies alike. Adds immersion and thus fun. Use VOIP, don't just replace it completely with something else.

    Curious about peoples 'Rules of Engagement'

    I don't shoot on sight. SOS, so to speak. "KOS" is relative anyway. Doesn't mean you have to win (kill) on every encounter. I run around with a partner, squads or a big army most of the time anyway, so we can afford to be more friendly than the average loner who might not have backup or someone watching his back in turn. Loner on loner encounters can be way more risky than group vs loner encounters. I suggest anyone to have good soft or hard cover before trying to communicate with someone. Running into each other can or will scare people and lead to quick or harsh reactions.

    I think the OP has some (not all) good points. And the trailer comparison is funny and true. Go record on some full random public server. It would be bad PR, to be honest, unless you're lucky. But even I as somewhat friendlier (or let's say, I don't KOS) player don't think some weird "Karma mechanic" is gonna cut it. Too much black and white, not giving any people in between leeway. Heck, even heroes could end up with a "magical bandit skin" because those people they want to help try to kill them. No, let's leave this karma / black & white thing out here, at least via some "humanity system". What we need is "squad xml" (search it if it does not ring a bell) or eventually more clothing / customization. That way you can identify individual groups, also medics or bandits, if they wear a red cross or a skull logo perhaps.

    To be honest, I can't take those people too serious anyway. I mean also those pretending they never die and always winning any encounter. Stuff like "I'd shoot you" or "They'd never see me coming". You can win against all odds, but you die eventually. They all die eventually. If it's not to glitches it can be random. I know people with experience hunting big groups for fun or other reasons and they also die. If these basically / more or less skilled people do, then anyone does, I guess. E: And yeah, it's a game. Lighten up, have some more creative fun. "Losing" (being at a disadvantage) can be fun too if you get out of there alive! It's just a game AND: Don't get too attached to your gear. Also means chars.

    Ah well, why even complain, Mays? If people do not cooperate or attack when someone tells them to stop or surrender, then they can eat lead with the small chance to overcome the attacker(s). But that's often unlikely if said people have a basic sense of logic and security measures. In that moment these people have no one to blame but themselves if they die because of attacking / not cooperating. Attacking, complying, fleeing. These are decisions they make. With all consequences, benefits, disadvantages, whatever.

    So basically (some) people here use some sense of "honor" or fear being "abused" in a vidya game and instead prefer going on a rampage instead of being captured. Guess what? If you say there's a chance to survive because you'd die anyway, then there's also a chance to survive by complying. If you attack the people that hold you up without sufficient luck or weapons you are dead. That's easy to see once such a situation unfolds. You lose it all, start with 0. If you do comply, you might also die but then again perhaps not. Please don't complain about KOS then if people don't try to hold up people anymore because they all go apeshit just because someone could have power in a game over them for some time. It's not really productive in the end, and anyone with some sense of logic or security will prevent you from striking first once they hold you up. And guess what? Running at everyone trying to communicate to kill them is also not that productive. Could be helpful people sometimes, sometimes not. Fact is, if they get the jump on you and try to hold you up they're likely in a superior position already. Comply or die then.

    Nice try. I dunno, it's part of the game yadda yadda blah blah but I kinda dislike the people ignoring such effort, just killing. Sometimes make them seem like "HURR DURR KILL ANYTHING LOL" (yeah, slight overreaction). Then again, they DID kinda kill / shoot at anything :D

    You can still use the M4 bayonet as melee weapon. It's only "decent" because it slows you down. Any axe or crowbar (weapon that does not slow you down) is better. Stick it in front of your rifle or throw it away until they can be used properly.

    Why does every person with a gun shoot on sight?

    As loner it'll usually be more risky to encounter friendly players if you try to be friendly yourself. Simply because you do not outnumber anyone unless in a group, or you might encounter a small group yourself. That means that you lack one possible advantage that lets people consider. Theoretical scenario: People meet, one on one. Probably paranoid, loners, etc. You get to think: Talk? Avoid? Try to kill? Could get his stuff? My point is, people, unless both really play the friendly route, are more inclined to shoot in such a situation, I assume. My experience tells me it's easier to "turn people friendly" if you outnumber them. They'll obviously see they are facing a larger threat and that death is highly likely if they try to attack said group. So they usually have no choice or take the stupid route themselves. In short, a group running up to people trying to communicate and being friendly is different than loners or strangers trying to establish contact. More risky for the strangers, indeed.
