    Why this mod is failing

OP, The problem is not bandits, playstyle, or even the alpha state of the mod. The problem is actually boredom. All the content in this game last around 50 hours, maybe. This includes learning the map, looting, getting geared up, playing with cars (and now with choppas), and then hunting other players. After those 50 hours, you figure things out and the only challenging thing left is killing other players. If you are a douche, of course, you will get hours and hours of fun killing others, especially noobs with your L33t gear. The solution is simple: new maps. Its easy to make new maps for this mod and that's the only content that is really needed. With new maps, you have the entire game cycle above recreated. You have to learn the map, loot (you can also add unique new items for the new maps), get geared up, play with cars (add some new cars), and then hunt players. All this will take a lot of new hours.
  2. Been trying to download from official site all day. It has been bombed with people and impossible. Tried this and it works like a charm. No virus showing up. Thanks dudes! People have good reason to be paraniod, so don't take it to heart. We need alternative sites.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

FOR Rocket: It's cool to see that you are reading everything. Let me sum up what everyone is saying: Don't take any of the criticism to heart. Despite our differences of opinion, I think its clear everyone replying here loves the game. Don't get burnt out taking the whining too serious.

Don't waste your breath on these no-life, play dayz 10 hours a day trolls. Waste of time and effort. But you have my beans.

Lol. What advantage? That you will not be bored to tears playing by yourself because you can hook up with some friends? Not all of us are loners who can play 5 hours a day.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

Why is the alt-f4 solution so damn complicated and dependent on building profiles? Part of the problem is that a solution has to be simple enough so that people can understand how it works. This does not appear to meet that standard and will leave a lot of people pissed off who are getting warnings. Second, a solution needs to be simple, with as little maintenance as possible. Tracking, issuing warnings, banning - way too many steps with potentially arbitrary rules. Why not a simple solution such as: For server hoppers: 1. You cannot spawn in any building. If you try, you will randomly spawn in an open area within 20 meters from where you were last located. 2. When you spawn, if there are zombies nearby, they do not de-spawn. Something simple like this does not depend on profiles and complex rules. For alt-f4. The purpose here is to eliminate the cheap disconnects during a firefight. There is no other purpose than this. So the solution should only target this. Who cares that those disconnecting might also be do anything else, such as hacking. 1. 45-60 seconds log-out time, both aborting and entering the game. So if you disconnect you have a 45 second timer and if you reconnect you also have a 45 second timer. That will kill all alt-f4 noobs. You can have your own variations about the above options, but they should be as simple as this. Also, the hive has so many problems tracking anything, this is the reason why there is item duping, desyncing, etc. Don't create a solution that is dependent on the hive. Create a solution that can rely on local client servers. Let these guys be part of the solution. Btw, the best and only content that need be added right: More maps!!! This will reduce a mountain of moaning and crying. I think alot of the whining on the forum has to do with people being bored of the current map. We need some new content.
  7. Feedback for 1.7.2.3 with 9505 and above: 1. Too many damn betas. Why not release Arma betas on a byweekly basis? With both client and server having to update nearly every day makes for a mess. If BI continues to do it this way, at least let us rollback if we don't let the updates. 2. As many of the others have mentioned, the whole player v. zombie interaction has changed. With 1.7.1.5, it was possible to sneak in and out of a town, especially in a group, and not aggo any zombie. Now, since it is next to impossible to do this, the best method is just to run in, aggo and try to lose them. If you can't or are too lazy, you can disconnect in a building. Sneaking around zombies, especially when you are alone, was alot of fun before. Now, it has become a chore and boring. Personally, I loved the zombie mechanic is 1.7.1, where if you got any zombie aggo on you, you could not lose them. Your only option was to kill them or disconnect. Made zombies very dangerous. 3. Zombie spawning is broken. There is no immersion when zombies spawn right in front of you and then continue to spawn endlessly, no matter where. 4. Alot of the fixes in the old patches have become broken. Inventory duping of items is back and out of control with some items, like tents. Barb wire duping is back and is starting to appear everywhere again. Items duping/disappearing in tents/cars is back. Ghillies/camo disappearing. All of this appeared fixed in 1.7.1.5 5. Different servers sometimes places you in different areas and/or with different gear. In one server I have a tire in my inventory. I got to another and it disappears. 6. Shotgun/crowbar are a joke and should be removed. Things I like: 1. Temperature works now. 2. Cars cannot be stored off-grid. 3. Loot works. Suggestion for server hopper/alt-f4ers: Make it so that to disconnect, you have to build a fireplace (and you cant do that in a building). If you don't disconnect using a fireplace, you lose all your gear in your main inventory, including primary and secondary weapons. It will be as if you respawn but at your current location. If you are unlucky with lag and are disconnected, you are shit out of luck. If the server resets, usually there is a warning, so you better get out fast. The idea is to introduce some e type of mechanism that will make connecting/disconnecting an exercise that has to be done with care. Suggestion for dayz: If you are not doing a final version soon, at least do a KickStart for dayz. Raise some money and create a real infrastructure for the game, with decent servers for the hive and a larger staff. I think you guys can easily raise 3-5 million doing a kickstart for a stand-alone dayz.
