It's a bug, you've ended up in the so called "debug plains". Rocket put a fix in that allows you to retrieve your character before that happened by just aborting and logging back in, voila, you have your equipment back, downside though is you'll spawn somewhere at the coast. -
I live to kill, nuff said. If I see a survivor I will pursue him and ONLY stop if he's dead or aborts. I don't care for the loot at all, I just want to kill everyone cuz that's the only thing that's fun atm, actually trying to make it far and establish a base so far has ended in my group being killed by hackers and everything we set up destroyed.

I think it was entertaining, not everyone might think so though but I agree wholeheartedly with you. Letting people live in DayZ is stupid, everything and everyone should be killed on sight! Call me cruel, but today when my whole group of friends died to a hacker and we lost 8 tents (our base) full of endgame gear I decided to play the game the way it was intended to, go to cherno/elektro and kill every s.o.b. I come across, a guy was running away from me into a barn, I pop some shots in his legs and see him crawling in a barn. I run in there, see him laying on the ground, he whines over voice-chat "please, don't kill me, I have nothing, I don't want to die!"... so I put my weapon away.... and decided to murder him with the hatchet instead! So much fun! ^_^

What I learned from Dayz

Soo... my group and me just spend the last days setting up a camp, we had tanktraps around it, 8 tents FULL of anything you could desire (NVG, Rangefinder, AS50, M4 CCO SD, etc.). It was far off too, nobody would ever go there, suddenly, a gunshot, first one of us goes down, no sign of life ANYWHERE. Seconds later 4 more of us got killed and the camp got destroyed. A friend of ours logged in 10 minutes later, our bodies and the camps were gone, no sign that a camp or human being has ever been there. Moments later half the population of the server dies and as I respawned on the coast I can see a glimpse of a guy in a Ghillie with a golden revolver as he tp's infront of me, kills me and disappears again... lovely, brilliant. -
Bear Traps and remote activated satchel charges are already in the game, I'd like to see a little more though, I like the addition of mines, while probably being disliked by hardcore carebears I'm all for making Chernarus a "living hell". Just recently I was shot and tried to ran away, I passed the corner and stepped into a beartrap... it was an ambush. I'm just really lucky the guy took some stuff of me, bandaged me up and let me live. Was one of those moments.

Servers with the difficulty set to "Regular" will have the ingame Map activated and display yourself as a blue dot with a red circle around it and everything in an approx. range of 50 meters. "Man" in this case can be pretty much everything, if it's Orange it's unidentified and could be either a Zombie or another player, it's most likely a Zombie though.. unless your in a forest with no deer huts or out on the open field. When these dots turn green/red/blue they're identified and usually display "Survivor" and such.

I'm all for adding more ambient sounds in plains and forests, owls and distant zombie moans have already been mentioned and I'd like to further endorse these. A low chance for 1-2 zombies spawning in woods would also be nice. Feels kinda strange walking around the huge barren lands and forests without seeing a single... well.. something. Someone also mentioned an event where a helicopter would randomly fly over the map with a searchlight, I like the idea, not hard to implement too, while not too much on topic I am too all for it.

As far as I'm aware DayZ needs Combined Operations "ArmA 2 + OA", the problem in your case might just be retail+steam, I don't think that combo works. Sorry to break it to you. I might be wrong though.

Both of them will more than likely be able to play ArmA 2 with DayZ on Medium settings, but for the love of god, instead of throwing more than a thousand dollars out of the window you can get an excellent gaming rig for LESS that is also better. I reccomend grabbing a friend of yours with some technical know-how and ask him if he could set-up a gaming rig for you. In my books, the term "gaming-laptop" does not exist. Not saying the ones you linked are bad, it's just... holy cow they're expensive, just looking at the price tags makes me shudder.

Agree wholeheartedly. While I dislike the Idea of a Tank like zombie from L4D I'm still all for adding more dangerous zombies, but only if the running/attacking animations and the pathfinding gets looked at. I don't need a Soldier Zombie with a bulletproof vest and kevlar helmet come chasing at me with warp drive while zig-zagging and one-hit leg-breaking me. Zombies are only a hindrance to me. They should be scarier and of course, there's also room for more different kinds of enemies.

True, while I really like the Weapon Nerf in general it came at an unfortunate time (that is, Zeds still having buggy pathfinding/animations).

Bushes and Trees are always visible, no matter the distance, grass however becomes invisible after 100m or so, so only lay down and use grass for cover when someone is REALLY close, or else you'll be a black dot on a green field. to effectively use bushes make sure your character is completely behind it. -
i agree with Fraggle, the game was tremendously easy, the gun nerf was definately needed. At least now Zeds prove to be a challenge in numbers, ammo is more important AND you have to think about firing your gun in an open space with zeds around and of course, take precise aiming.

Idea to sort out some trust issues

I think it's a great idea, honestly, maybe not the "best" solution but probably the best I've read yet. I'm all for something being done against the ludicrous amount of deathmatching going on in DayZ. I mean, sure, it's a Zombie Apocalypse, but seriously? There's a WAR going on in Elektro and Chernogorsk, going as far as groups of 10-20's clashing against each other with grenade launchers, light-machine guns and satchel charges. Most of the time I get close to the coast to take a look at cherno I can't tell if I'm playing a Zombie Simulator or if I got ported back in time to the Normandy Landing, sure sounds and looks like it. -

I have only found "1" Can of Mountain Dew in a little over 2 months of playing the game almost every free minute I can dedicate. Mountain Dew is in fact SO RARE that people make up the craziest of myths when you drink that stuff. My favourite myth so far is that you respawn with ghillie and AS50 after you die having drank it. Of course I call bullshit on that one but it just adds to how rare that stuff is seeing as players come up with stuff like this. From what I gather on the forums they seem to spawn most frequently at Green Mountain (might be a pun intended by rocket?) On a sidenote, checking the loot tables again, the spawn chance for Mountain Dew is 0.28%, meaning they're just as rare as Ghillie/Camo Suits. -
Placeable radios for communication or misdirection

I like this idea a lot, I think that radio's would add immensely to DayZ, just thinking of picking up a radio and hooking up with some sexy navy dude has me drooling all over the place. ;) Nah, kidding aside, I'm all for Radios, would be nice finding them, maybe even hear them on corpses of players and hear the other teammates of his talk/fire and such. -
I saw a helicopter flying over Stary earlier, but I sadly can't confirm whether it's hacked in or legal, was a standard DayZ huey though. I think chances are high that they'll start appearing on servers running the current beta version soon.

I've seen my fair share of strange things yet, but what you're seeing is 100% hacked in. My advice ? Stay away from that server and hope you never find Fort-Hack again. This seems to happen more often on densely populated servers as the hacking audience is bigger. -

You mean "the fields north of elektro that are a perfectly visible from 3 hills, the school, 2 fire stations, a shopping mall and a hospital so I have plenty of sniper cover" ? Just thinking loud. I'd be careful with meeting people for "trading items"... VERY careful. -

Having hacked weapons in your inventory WILL lead to a ban. Inventory of players is being checked on a regular basis as far as I'm aware and players with items in their inventory that are not in the DayZ loot tables will get a Battle-Eye ban. I reccomend dropping that weapon ASAP. -
I'd love an "unscrew" command on pretty much every vehicle, they seem to explode/flip at any given chance. For now I'm afraid we can only drive "safely" with ATV's, whenever I'm riding one I usually slow down when approaching bumps or going offroad. Seeing as finding another vehicle to flip said ATV over if it landed on the back is next to impossible we can only hope for a "flip vehicle" function to be implemented. All that being said, flipped vehicles will be upright again if the server restarts. Save the vehicle, mark the spot and check back later.

From what I gathered in your post you're german, speak english fluently, are 21 years old and use Teamspeak 3, you would prove a valuable addition to our team. We're a group of around 7 people, mostly 3-4 playing together most of the time. We're about to set up a new camp as we've lost our old ones due to server admin abuse. We can get you equipped with pretty much everything you could desire. I'll drop you a PM. :)

While your rage is only natural and I do feel for you, please keep it a little more civil. Pretty much EVERYONE is aware of this issue, there's hundreds of threads all over the forums with possible fixes. You can also try playing with VSync and AA settings in the game (it sometimes does the trick for me). For now we can only wait for a new patch to resolve this issue.
