    If I were here to complain about unfinished features I would be talking about the lack of cars, or the nonexistent animals or the unfinished items. Im here because nothing has changed since I left 3 months ago. The progress is very little. I'm glad that they have a sperate team working on AI and animals. Also I said competition is arising, not that one would ultimately crush the other. However if one game does everything the second game does but only better then they will have many more players then the inferior game. In the end it doesn't matter what engine, or how many devs working on it or the struggles they had to go through or who came up with the idea, but which is the better game. That is still a long way off since it is only Alpha, but I really hoped to see tangible progress after I left.

    March 5th of 2013, Arma 3's alpha August 2012 is when dayz SA was officially annouced. A3 engine was in use for A3 (and in 7 months A3 engine was tested publicly with the open alpha) before dayz was even announced. They were being worked on by the same company (BIS) This fourm is just excuses when people speak of what could have been. Also why such a small team? You know what ill give you the argument, and ill agree with you that it would have been hard to use the new engine regardless of the amount of people. However now that the game racked up million of dollars with the alpha I'm done with the excuses.

    Character movement may be better in the SA but by a small margin. They are both horrendous. I agree that the FPS is fine and zombie AI is a work in progress (though I have very low expectation to what they will look like when they are finished)

    I was responding back to a fellow of yours, you guys contradict each other so much it is making my head turn. Alright then, it was impossible for the Alpha to be made on such an unfinished engine, Arma 3 is doing so poorly on that engine, you are right it is unbelievably unfinished. What ever the reason was/is, time is going by and competition is arising. I ponder at how Arma 2's 2009 engine will compete. (Yes it's a new engine but it is based of the old one heavily as to why they having their little issues) As to why I'm still here? I want to be proven wrong, I want to see dayz flourish into an outstanding game. Then the whole community can point me the finger. I have been here from the start and despite the lack of progress I want to see this game succeed. However I am not one to cover up flaws and defend all the choices that were made in this development.

    Releasing the open beta would lead to higher expectations, which would just lead to a bigger disappointment. If they would have waited for a beta then it definitely would not have been released yet. With dayz beta not released and H1Z1 fast approaching, say good bye to all of dayz's sales. On the corporate level, releasing the Alpha was their smartest move. Years? please, it would have been half a year at it's latest but would have provided endless benefits. Also, in a zombie apocalypse game why have they not started developing zombie ai.

    Time is not an issue. If dayz isn't a cash grab to capitalize on the hype, then they should have waited a few months and take advantage of the modern engine. The Alpha will last another few years anyway, whats a few months gonna do. Just look out how advantageous A3 engine is right now. It is a no-brainer to wait and use an engine that is years ahead then to hurry and you an engine that dated back to 2009. The ballistics, movements and graphics will never be ported over, hell, they are having difficulty making zombies even half decent. I thought the same as you once, then reality punched me in the face.

    Yes, but the Arma 3 does everything that the A2 engine does but only better. Give one valid reason why it was not chosen.

    I'm amazed how the community immediately assaults the OP after he made many valid points Its like flies on a turd. Face it, A2 (and A3) engine was never meant to be an MMO, but a mil Sim, that also highly scriptable. It is amazing at what it does. I can only suspend disbelief for so much. If dayz is a standalone game it should have made it's standalone engine (or at least use the A3 engine as a base instead of A2)

    Exactly, Early access is a godsend for companies, what other product allows it to be purchased before it is out. Think of the signs already portrayed, slow development progress despite having reeled in millions of dollars, shady communication skills, and rocket himself is leaving. The best part it there was no promised release date so this alpha could go into 2019 and no one would be able to do shit. How wise would it be to spend millions on a project that may only reel in another couple hundred thousand.

    From a business point of view it would be horrible to expand the team. Most people that want to buy dayz already bought it, therefore wasting funds on a bigger team to speed a game that will no longer reel in major profits is illogical. The money has already been made for dayz before it even came out, allowing the devs to take their time without major consequences. Add to that the market segment for A3 and dayz are really different, if work would come to a standstill a very small percentage of those loyal to bis (from the arma series) would care, meaning their reputation to those who count are not affected. I'm not saying the game will never be released or the devs are not working their hardest. but basically smaller team + minimal progress = more profit then big team + major progress. In the end, BIS is nothing but a company, and a companies goal is to make money.

    Zombies do not need to be improved, they need to be completely redone. Cliping through walls is one of the many problems they have, the spawing, the attacks their sprinting and awareness. practically everything. and for the record; I left a while back just jumped in to see the progress.

    I understood the horrific zombies in the mod, I do not understand why they are in the SA. and walking through wall is one of their many faults.

    Dear Developer-Team of DayZ

    Well funds could purchase more talented workers (not saying current devs are bad) If I build my house with 10 good workers it may take lets say 2 years If I build my house with 20 good workers it may take lets say 1.5 years. I know there is different teams working on different things, but seeing zombies run through walls while I look at a 10/10 compass just does not sit right with me.

    Came back after leaving in the first week and could not comprehend the lack of progress for zombies. but that spray paint tho 10/10
