Mods are what make or break games like these. If Standalone doesn't not allow modding (once its complete) I give it 6 - 8 months before it dies. The engine strongly resembles A2, but it is unique in some ways. However the graphics won't be improved. If Rocket was going to take 2 years to port it to stand alone he should used A3 as the base engine.

The game had an unimaginable amount of momentum. Dayz was the next best thing. I have never seen another developer totally destroy his hype-train so ridiculously as this. It has been delayed, and delayed and delayed for negligible reasons such as Item degradation, and magazine packing. I would completely understand if he was taking his time on the arma 3 engine, but not even that. He stuck with the arma 2 engine which gets older by the day and can't be compared to any recent engines. Every devblog that has come out has left me more and more disappointed and any strong fanbase dayz had has already vanished and is currently consumed by other generic triple A titles. All he had to do was port it over with some reduced hacking measures and it could have been set to go December 2012. We are approaching 2014 and we still have no word of an alpha release date. While I still hop on every once and a while, Dayz has completely passed me by, along with any friends I made in my adventures of dayz. It pains me to see such a unique game with so much potential be shattered by over ambitious dreams.

The majority of players kill because they can, they have a gun, they have ammo so to them that means they should shoot anything that moves. Half the people they snipe in cherno and elecktro is just for plain shooting, they dont go for the gear and even if they would 80% of the people in those cities are newspawnes. So please tell me how realistic it is to shoot an unarmed man that doesnt see you and is not even approaching your direction just because you can Most people play dayz as a game and once they get bored with their loadout they go hunting for other people, the fact that survival is not a big aspect doesnt really help the matter, you can pratically dance around zombies.

arma 2 has a pretty decent engine. I bought arma 2 way before dayz and always loved it. sure its reaching the limit but find me an engine that could this on this scale??

Competition. Competition is what makes a good game. It was bound to happen, you can't make a mod with this much popularity and think no one would try to go on with the same ideas. Dayz need funding of some sort if wants to compete with not only warz but with the future zombie games that are going come out.

I got a good one, Happened last night.Me and 2 good friends of mine joined a small server with like 5 players. Were not in the mood for some PVP so we decided to chill and explore the nice map. We all met up after just 15 minutes and thanks to good luck we found a UAZ that was in perfect condition. So we are all happy and its sunrise outside so its not that dark but not perfectly light. We go driving around chilling in the UAZ having fun when all of a sudden, the incident starts The UAZ just stops, everything in red condition. We were mad and surprised. Why would our car randomly break down. That when something appeared on direct chat. похвалили: Даже если я пойду и долиной смертной тени, не убоюсь зла, потому что ты со мной. This was said in direct chat and scared the crap out of us. We turned around and looked at our surrounding but nothing was there. Except for a mountain in the distance.....Green mountain. My friend with us (chek chak) translated it for us. It was quote from the bible saying Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me`` This chat was repeated every 60 seconds for 5 minutes of us searching our surroundings. No one in the game had that name which creaped us out even more. We slowly walked to green mountain. Then we saw somethings moving . 4 guys slowly walking to green mountain a bit in front of us. We followed them but they didn't seem to be hostile and had their weapons lowered so we got up close. That is when we saw it. the four guys.....was us, it was a duplicate of us with one other guy. The random guy disappeared and had the name of BennyShow. While the 3 remaining was frostwolf (me), thatguy and Chek Chak (my two friends). They walked calmly up to the center of green mountain. We watched as the 3 stoped in the center. We were amazed at this. We had no Idea what was going on. The chat open once again with: thatguy: Господи, пожалуйста, прости меня за то, что я собираюсь делать .Chek: WTF where did you learn to speak russian, i thought I was the only one here XD thatguy: I did not say it..... frost; the fuck is going on Chek: it says lord please forgive me for what I am about to do. That is when the duplicate of thatguy, shot my duplicate and cheks duplicate and vanished.we stood there in amazement at what just happened, both dead bodies had our gear, they were our bodies. Thats when the chat opens and shit really hits the fan Thatguy: wtf i am unconscious frost; no your looking at us and just moved a bit Check; yea your fine Thatguy; nope Im down Thatguy: Господи, пожалуйста, прости меня за то, что я собираюсь делать. Check: wtf Thatguy; I didnt type that in a swear, it wasnt me. Thats when Thatguy shot me and Check and we died instantly. The only possible thing was that thatguy lost control over his character and his character killed both of us just like the 3 doubles of us, just like the other thatguy killed the other 2.Thatguy later told me that before disconnecting something appeared on the center of the screen best discribed as the taskbar for regular arma 2 (like when you suceed a mission) His said: жертвовать: complete Thats the story guys, I will never know who took over my friends body or who those 3 clones were. We will never know why my friends shot us just like we just witnessed it was like we were seeing the future. We will never know why there was Russian bible quotes and what they had to do with all of this. we will never know why our car randomly broke down or why my friend completed this objective

Dont remove snipers just make them like hard as hell to find and make ammo even harder. MAke it so once you get a sniper you would be so scared to die and lose

Ill keep this short and simple: 2 things to do in dayz 1) Get good gear 2) Kill other players So once your down with getting good gear all that is left to do is...........Kill players.

There is so many of these threads, Hacking is the biggest downfall of Dayz

These hackers are having the time of their lives destroying weeks and weeks of hard work. Only to get banned (if they get banned0 After a week or two. DO you know how much trolling could be done In one week? In a game with permenent death where you could lose all the hard work, hackers could be much worse then on cod or bf3. I took a small break from Dayz still monitoring it and seeing where the project is heading. I will not complain because rocket has done an excellent job so far. But at this moment it is just unplayable

Been playing arma 2 a year before dayz release date, Honestly arma 2 has that feel which no other game has, especially online. Domination online is real fun, i suggest you at least give a try, You already bought the game what do you have to lose?

Yea buy arma 2, DAyz is really fun But i catch myself playing domination now more then dayz arma 2 is a real fun game on its own

You payed for arma 2 not dayz, rocket could charge whatever he wants. Dayz is bonus when you bought arma 2. So you did not pay a cent for dayz, even if you currently paid 20$ for arma 2. Arma 2 =/= Dayz (Im one of the lucky ones that bought arma 2 way before dayz was launched)

Yea make them run slower please cause I have trouble outrunning them too. Also make it so they only take 1/12000 health because they are too strong. Also make there be less zombies because they are tomany, and one last thing they hear me when ever I sprint by them make it so they cant detect me when I run by too.
