You know, suggesting that people hack is just adding fuel to the fire.

I have a sense of humor... your video just wasn't funny. XD -
So how many of you actually played ArmA 2?
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to Wallz (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have been playing on an RP server on chern for about a year.. So I was well prepared for DayZ XD. -
Same goes to you.

Jump in the water, you don't always lose all your stuff. Not worth waiting for a boat. -
Where do I start looking for camps?
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to Sinnwin's topic in New Player Discussion
Well you missed the thread that said people who place there tents outside of the map will have it wiped.. So people stopped doing that and all previous placed tents were removed. http://dayzmod.com/f...nup-2012-07-06/ I would say do a full circle near stary sober of about 1000 m diameter and if you don't find a tent by then you aren't doing something right. Some people are to lazy or just don't care, and place there tents in fairly easy to find spots, on top of hills in castles, stuff like that. The problem is the loot is usually found and taken by then. -
I don't exactly understand what you could offer in a bounty system, unless some sort of currency system was set up. Offering things like weapons seems kinda touchy, definitely since people would need to go collect these weapons in order to add to the realism, which would be a camping spot for bandits. Seems like a never ending train of bandit kills player, player puts bounty up, player kills bandit goes to collect bounty, bandit kills player, etc. etc.

Yes, there are hacks out there that gives people god mode. I have come across a few people with such hacks.

crashed chopper.
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to anton364@hotmail.nl's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you are talking about the crashed chopper that is spawned into the game, the gear appears around the chopper not in the gear section. If you are talking about a chopper that was crashed by players, the gear is lost. -
Minor grievances (aka little things)
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to tobiassolem's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is Alpha... Half the stuff you mentioned are features that I am sure rocket has thought about. An other parts (like the stairs breaking your legs) is an ARMA problem that I am sure will be addressed at some point. -
War Z are you having a laugh?
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to Sinsinful's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Only thing it has is the 250 players a server, when ARMA 3 comes out and DayZ is able to boost its player per server numbers War Z will have no chance.. I also love the market, I suggested something similar with the guards that try to keep the zombies out, and it constantly moves as the army sets it up. Sounds pretty cool.... and its not a PVP disabled area, its just that guards shoot those who shoot... realistic XD. -
How fast can you get the basic gear?
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to Tenderness's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I generally can put together that a BARN = Winchester, which means I am usually good on firearms relatively fast. Having that gun quickly means I really don't lose anything when I die, but am a notch above the random survivor with a hatchet that you come across while finding the other basics. -
How do I disable Dayz to play Arma2:OA?
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to mantas191's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You remove the @dayz part in your launch options. Edit: How do you launch your game? I might be able to give you more accurate help. -
add team making functionality
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to God_his_self's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Some people like to be deceitful, and it is a part of the game. Plus a problem I see with your system is.... Person A: Sends request to person B. Person B: Accepts request cause he doesn't want to die. Person B: Feels he is safe, and moves to disband the friendship (which is just an abuse in itself if you ask me). Person A: Then has the choice to wait till he is close to Person B until he agrees to disband then he can kill him... I don't see how it will remove the mistrust, it would ruin the environment, anyone who doesn't accept the agreement you kill on site, and anyone who does can no longer do anything... -
Lol, amazing video.

Found night vision goggles AND L85A2, what now?
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to privatesnowflake's topic in New Player Discussion
Kill every survivor you see. -
I like it, and I really don't see why it won't be added eventually. I am sure adding stuff like this would be close to the bottom of the To Do List.

Additional request for respawning
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to Doktor Klabautermann's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Next Update is suppose to include the disabling of the respawn feature. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/42806-pending-update-build-1724/ -
Its a good idea, and it just needs some tinkering, keep it up :)

I would consider his vote invalid, as he is banned. Then again he didn't vote the way I voted so I am biased. >.<

I got carried away typing, cause I hardly ever post... so scroll down to the tl;dr part cause I don't want to start deleting stuff... even this part of the post is just an excuse to type more. The problem with the PVP system is that there is no punishment for being a jerk everytime you play. Some survivor who is carrying around an AK-M for example has to worry about any idiot who just spawned with a makarov. An if they die, they don't care... they respawn and come for you again. I understand the realism of the pvp scenario, but having people who are able to constantly come after you with no risk to themselves is not very realistic at all. The bandit model is not efficient, my recommendation is for a higher respawn time based on who you killed (there humanity, how many people they killed, etc.) In a realistic zombie apocalypse, people would have more to lose, which would probably affect whether or not they are going to shoot people for no reason. /End Idea /Start Example Yesterday I was playing, walked all the way up to berezino from cherno with my brother. Wandering, for sure we were alone, walked into a house, nothing good was there. Left, zombies caught onto us and we retreated back to the house to see a bandit sitting in there collecting stuff. He effectively scared the crap out of me. An I was aiming at him with my shotgun rather then preventing the hoard from breaching the house. He asked for a bandage ... I asked what he had to trade (and I stupidly said nope I got that already), to almost everything he had said. We let the bandit go.... had he later on then sniped me in the head, That would of been a fair and in my opinion a great RP experience. He needed a bandage, I told him I had one but didn't pass it on... It is moments like that, which we should be trying to create in this mod, not constant player verses player conflict. It simply isn't realistic, I let that bandit go even though he scared the crap out of me because he wasn't after me, he caused no immediate threat to me. The most realistic thing that would of happened there was me stripping him clean of every weapon and supply he had, and leaving him for the horde. Meh, my thoughts. I know I like to type, sue me. /End Example tl;dr? Make the life of the characters have more meaning, to prevent the constant want of fire fights.

What files do you have to update for this release? Edit: Nevermind I found it in the change log. Ill post it for everyone. Affected addons: * dayz_code 1.5.4 * dayz_equip 1.2 (YOU NEED THIS FILE TOO!!)

Your character dies if you don't play for a few days
Snipes12 (DayZ) replied to pekhe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like this feature, it makes the survival aspect more important. Food/Water should be a first concern, I think it is more realistic. Plenty of games have things that happen when offline you work around it. If you can't play, no one is forcing you to... you die, you restart. -
Yes, Keep The Bandit Model! ****I typed a more then a sentence below. You don't have to read it XD.**** There has to be something in line to prevent constant death matching. Way to many people will just go crazy if they have nothing to lose (in real life when you die, you being a crazed murderer would end. The bandit model is the only thing that is close enough to that). Unless you want to have another solution (i.e- Respawn time of 10 min extra per player kill for example), otherwise I consider the bandit model a necessity. Another option, if you ever do come up with a skill system making people lose a skill point for killing a High Humanity player would be sufficient in my book. Little message blaming the loss of skill points on the stress that comes from killing another person is what I have seen done. Seems like a realistic option to me. All in all, I agree that the bandit model may be unfair to player killers, but obviously a lot of you people die more then the average non-player killer. Being able to respawn and just start shooting again is unfair to other players. There has to be some sort of punishment system to counter balance it.
