    Looking for mature team/partner

I'm willing to join, how well geared are you guys? Do you know your way around the ingame map and such?
  2. Freekill0

    Video Settings?

yes, cpucount=6 would help. Your game will now access all your available CPUs making for a large boost in performance.

Stary Sobor a waste of time?

That's life my man, in a real apoc people are not going to be so kind. Devolution.
  4. So this is a general story thread about GOOD deeds you guys have done throughout the wasteland with no intent for compensation or reward. I shall start! I was in a server back during the 1.7.1.5 DayZ and I was in a server that had Side Chat enabled. I was just doing small exploring, for the most part not really anything labor intensive. I was just skimming what people where saying in Side Chat whilst walking across the northern part of Cherno. In Side Chat two people (SirBeef and Joshua [might be wrong with this name]) were having a conversation about grouping up since they were both "friendlies" in Cherno. My first response was "Oh look! Actually some kind folks" then I thought "The only people looking to 'group up' in Cherno are looking for some easy beans to pull of a freshly dead body" but for the most part I was going to let the conversation proceed without me interfering. After about 10 or 15 minutes they eventually meet up and the conversation proceeded a little something like this SirBeef: "So I just double click it to drop it right?" Joshua: "Yes, I'd like to see it please" SirBeef: "Ok! here :]" - Joshua picks up his stuff - Joshua: "Ok thanks bud, bye." SirBeef: "Wait where are you going?" Joshua: "I am leaving, with your stuff." SirBeef: "So I've been robbed?" Joshua: "Yep, bye!" I thought to myself, well... that is kind of what you get. But I later learned that SirBeef was rather new. As in first character new. I immediately felt so sorry and did not want him to be exposed to such horrid behavior as his first interaction. I typed in Side Chat... FreeKill: Joshua you better keep your ass hidden in that city, because I am coming down and may you fear the day you cross in front of me. I immediately threw my AKS-47 Kobra over my shoulder, pulled out my M9SD and started working my way into the city. After about 10 minutes of searching I had found Joshua looting the military tents to the North East of Cherno. I had over-watch on him so I typed in side chat. FreeKill: Joshua I have your head lined up, if you drop your weapons now I'll let you live. Joshua: Why would I do that? FreeKill: You betrayed and stole from SirBeef, and now I am here to take it back. Joshua turned around and started shooting his Winchester wildly, clearly inexperienced bandit, he had no Idea where I was and his shots didn't even come close. I put a shot into him, he fell the floor. I let him lay there bleeding... when he finally came back to and tried to stand up I finished him with a quick burst. Looted his stuff and returned it to SirBeef. SirBeef had nothing he could give as payment for my deeds, and nothing was exchanged. For I wanted to to do it to show to SirBeef there is some good in the world. I hope my actions changed his outlook and he is out in DayZ trying to do the same. What other stories do you have? I'd like to see more!
  5. I had a very similar exchange with two players, one was named Spork. I broke my leg and we were all in a house when they went out looking for a morphine and got engaged. Spork died but his friend lived and came running back in, I gave him my Double Barrel Shotgun and my slugs on one condition. He used the first on me. He killed me, as I wanted him to, ended up surviving the bandit and we regrouped later on down the road.
  6. I thought in the recent updates they fixed the crazy zombie aggro, more specifically they changes kneeling. I just logged off of DayZ because I couldn't play it due to the harsh aggro, I was kneeling at the edge of a tree line and I was right-click zooming in at a field and I see a zombie sprinting at me all the way across a farm. Zombies between me and the sprinting zombie were NOT aggro-ing and after shooting it with my AKM zombies which were MUCH closer did not aggro either. Just a little odd. Also before you all start bashing me for either sucking or telling me to stop complaining, I am not. I am just wondering if it is an actually issue in the new patch or whatever else it may be.

Well put my friend, well put.
  8. Thats my point, maybe clientside zombies are 200m away but serverside it i walking right by you. Like I said I have no evidence on if this is real or not. Just me doing a little pre-work thinking.
  9. My assumption of what the issue may be is this: Some people were having issues with zombies spawning right on or near them and insta-aggroing. I feel maybe is has something to do with that like a zombie is (atleast serverside) meant to be in location X, but location X is occupied by something else. So serverside they are still in location X, but clientside they are in location Y. When you are in range to aggro said zombie at location X, they coming running from location Y as thats where they are clientside. Also ever since Rocket posted how zombie aggro works (the whole clientside serverside shifting) I always wondered if issues like this could happen. Tl;Dr Zombie is at location X on serverside Location X is occupied by a object Zombie at location X aggros Due to aggro zombies switch to clientside Zombie since he can't be in location X on clientside switches to next spawn in list Zombie spawns location Y (very far away) Zombie hauls like an idiot across a field. Just a hunch though, no idea.
  10. Surprisingly he was just chilling out in one of the lootable buildings with a Hatchet, was pretty happy to see him last. Don't know how he is doing now, maybe I made a change!

That's DayZ my friend. But from the post it seems you have had multiple characters and you cannot deny the fact that every time you get engaged and killed by a bandit, your next character is not stronger as you become more hyper vigilant to all and every situation. EDIT Oh good job! You surely just fixed the problem, this is GENERAL DISCUSSION. If you expect people to not post things like this then get out of the forum. General Topics are for the most part a chat room, its not Off Topic since it is DayZ related. Everybody is a hardass now-a-days

nub questions if you do not mind

You have 3 posts on the forum, are you are going to bash some other player like you are some battle hardened veteran? Please, you are as much rotting scum in this community as the next. Help new players not bash them.

nub questions if you do not mind

Balls was a joke, as in you need some guts! As for key remaping you are MUCH better off leaving them as there are so many keys thats trying to remap them would cause more issues as the other key you are trying to bind it too will almost surely be taken by another hotkey. You are better off taking the time to learn it, it really isn't too bad.

    Better zombie animation [video]

Better pathing... that's what causes the zigzagyness. How Zeds work in game is they are hosted server side while they walk around their basic AI routes. When one aggros to a player it is now hosted clientside (which makes me curious that hacks couldn't just "delete" said zombies). This is why they look laggy to other players since the data goes from the client to the server and back down to your client. It is ineffective, but more effective than a fully serverside zombie AI. If that were the case one bullet would be fired in Cherno and all of DayZ would crash.

Not a problem my friend, now go out and adventure into the crazed world of DayZ my newly named survivor/bandit! Destiny is but yours to shape!

    Alternative food sources

Agree 100% while food is not necessarily scarce, their should still be various other ways to obtain it as one would be able to in a true zombie outbreak. The trial and error system of berries and mushrooms seems like a fun and intuitive system that could be easily implimented into DayZ that would not only increase the realism of it but also make for a more immersive gaming environment. Furthermore their are a plenty of animals that can be eaten... more than sheep and cattle...

Broken legs are the bane of under-equipped players.

    Help: Naming

No it shouldn't effect you in terms of equipment and/or item loss, and yes you can change your name by going through the "player profile" option in the main menu when you load up DayZ before you enter a server.

    Faith, humanity - lost.

He sprinted by me, ran in and out of some rooms and then just looked at me... I was in such shock. Like did this guy just really go balls to the walls or what.

    Zombies idea!

While I do enjoy the DayZ zombies (minus the zig zag sprinting) this type of horde style zombies would be so fun in DayZ, especially if they keep the same amount of rarity in terms of ammo. Think 12 shots to get you through a crowd and having to pick and choose which zombies to kill in order to clear a path.

    Faith, humanity - lost.

Good story, tends to happen! Sometimes you got to do what is right to save yourself as a survivor. If you kill someone without being fired upon with reason that you still felt threatened then you are still a Friendly in my book. At one point I was lurking in Cherno and someone sprinted right into my building and was staring at me with a Makarov PM. I repeated "friendly!" over and over on direct chat with no response... he just kept staring at me. After typing in direct chat as well to no avail I put a bullet in him. Staring me down with a weapon and no response after given more than enough time is reason enough for me. If you are not with me you're against me. Keep at it my friend! Every death is just another notch in the belt.

    Video Settings?

The issue with DayZ (well ArmA 2 in general) is if you have stuff set to low or very low it decides to push the work load over to the CPU. So if shadows are on very low the CPU picks up the bearing instead of the GPU (which should) so I run something like this. Vsync ON: Vsync really helps MAINTAIN performance by synchronizing the FPS of the game to the Hz of your monitor. Also without it can cause some serious issues with LCD monitors. Post Processing OFF: Resource HOG! and the nausea inducing motion blur is well... nausea inducing. Video Memory DEFAULT: This is because you actually access more GPU memory through DEFAULT than you do on VERY HIGH AntiAliasing OFF: While it looks pretty that the edges are nice and sharp AA is a resource HOG. Launch Options: -nosplash, -cpucount=2 (dual core) -cpucount=4 (quad core) ArmA 2 doesn't like to access all your CPU cores for some reason. Hyper threading: This is only an issue with i7 processors mainly. Run as Admin: Meh, why not. Vista and 7 always have "run as admin" issues. I use Xp (Like a boss) View Distance: I lower mine to about 950, somewhere around 1000 gives a good balance between performance and being able to see a sniper. Other than that fiddle with some of the settings moving them from very low to high and see your performance gains or losses! Hope this helps my friend!
  25. I half agree with this statement, many times I am almost tricked into running when I hear zombies making the crazy sprint noises. Then again the occasional snarl is good for atmosphere.
