How to pick up acu backpack off dead body???
xcelsior replied to sauders580's topic in New Player Discussion
When looking at a dead user it should say 'Open <bagname>', hit 'G key' (or whatever button you have assigned to view inventory) when that shows up and it should bring up a page of your inventory and the dead body inventory (you don't want to open said bag). Scroll down til you see the bag you want and double click it, it'll replace your bag with that one. However if the body is old enough you won't be able to view the gear at all to take said items. Make sure you get anything you want out of your own bag too! -
What ever Happend to the original DayZ?
xcelsior replied to *Exile* Sami's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Admittedly it can make a server nice, but to be honest...how many out of all servers are better with it on vs worse with it on? I just personally dislike spam, and it may not always get spammed but I don't want to run the risk of it getting spammed. The servers that can pull it off though are great I'm sure! I just don't get on as often anymore to find out. -

Nah, it's nice at times not not really needed. If the communicating has to take place in-game and not outside game for whatever reason then BERCon works, though a bit annoying. Just have to message the player(s) you are contacting and have them type in any channel since RCon picks up chat. Personally I keep Side-Chat off as I have no tolerance for spam and it can kill the immersion so to speak. :) -

Assuming he meant the pouch it's the tiny little fanny-pack sized bag essentially. :) Czech Vest Pouch Czech Backpack -

Assuming it wasn't a typo, isn't the Pouch the tiny one? -

Hard? Yes. and it's hella-fun (is that still a saying?) to take that extra day! But the majority is just lazy, sad to say. Guess I shouldn't say 'majority'...'vocal majority' maybe? Personally I don't play DayZ for the "woot gear!", it's that not many games can get me on-edge when I hear a twig snap sneaking up to a town; and there's no denying we all love that feeling. The majority of the playerbase (as with most any game) doesn't want to wait for anything, they want "ZE BESTEST GEAR NAOW!". Work for stuff? HA! People are lazy, there's no denying it, I admit I'm extremely lazy. Personally I dislike that mentality, but I can't do anything about it so I just deal with it for now. I keep the Bearcats server running as vanilla as I feel is 'comfortable' (close enough), if people prefer it, sweet! If not, well...I pay the bill so they can leave. I'm happy with any amount of players, 1 or 100. We can't change the fact people are lazy and most admins are greedy (gotta have all them players! ...right?). Best we can hope for is a change with time whether due to updates or those players getting bored of it. -
To anyone who is kicked by BattlEye for 'MP Event Handler #36', this is a bug with dieing (?) that I have yet to find a solution to. It shouldn't do anything more than kick once, but if it does, let us know. If anyone knows a reasonable solution that would be very helpful. Also, as we have lost most of the players who were around a while back we will likely be doing a complete vehicle wipe sometime around the end of April. There are 100+ vehicles on the map and many are still around/hidden from older players. We are undecided on this and will likely try to get thoughts on this as April gets closer. The Admin Box is currently down; however we are still running Gotcha AntiHax on another box 24/7. If you need to contact us please use a mailing system such as our E-Mail. As always, any questions, concerns, comments, etc, let us know! Regards, Xcel

New build - PC (terminal boy and mZLY + anyone else thoughts?)
xcelsior replied to beatSTV's topic in Technology/Programming
Powercool? Hell I can't even find an OEM for that...few months down the road you'll likely have some "fun" with that. There's a reason cheap power supplies are so cheap. Of all the parts to go cheap on, never go cheap on a power supply. -
Need help finding a good pc? from £500-£800 (with windows 7)
xcelsior replied to HWBMx's topic in Technology/Programming
OEM (Original equipment manufacturer) in this case was referring to it looks like just a bare-bones CPU, no Heatsink, fan, or thermal paste looked supplied. The link is rather bare so I can't tell but normally places showing just a picture of the chip are selling just that...the chip only. Personally I don't see that often but I only buy from Newegg (US). Not sure, having never bought one, but they may have less warranty as well? Certainly don't quote me on that though! -

Seems like there would be a better plce to buy from than ebay (UK or not), but the parts look pretty good. I'm just not to keen on buying from Ebay when it costs lots of money. :) Everything is compatable, though the socket is a few generations older (1155 I think is the main one for Intel right now?). The 920 though is close to what someone I know uses and it runs great (different clock speed is all). The issues though; Power Supply, personally would suggest 650w and a SeaSonic or rebranded SeaSonic via Corsair. One you listed is Channel Well. Some personal choices; SeaSonic - Corsair (links aren't for UK, but just for ideas) CPU looks OEM? If it is you'll need to buy a cooler; can take your pick really on that Hard Drive...not sure what's up with that one but I see no brand name? Try to find a Western Digital Black if possible, Seagate also works (personally prefer WD) Just some thoughts. -

As other mentioned, building is better if you are willing! Choosing parts is easy enough for people to help with, just stick with good brands. SeaSonic, Corsair, EVGA, ASUS, Kingston, Sapphire, other big names but those are the ones of the top of my head. If you do choose building; Have you ever built legos? Ever just plugged in the USB/video/etc cables to the back of your compter? Ever put together a desk, table, or other IKEA-like 'thing' with screws? If yes to any of those...you can build it easily. Just remember a few tips; Don't work on or near materials such as carpet; even a small shock can fry something NEVER force a part in that won't simply pop in to place. If it won't fit, it's likely not meant to go there as most things only fit 1 way! Always keep yourself grounded (goes with tip 1); just touch the case every now and then to avoid building any static Take your time! Rushing will lead to an issue somewhere, even if you've been doing it for a long time. As to the "but don't overclock. overclocking is just idiots showing off and then realising they have broken their system a year later for very little in the way of performance" remark; I hope that was sarcasm? If it wasn't; an Overclock is more then just showing off, and can help a lot, it may not sound it but even a 5FPS boost is worth it. The only way it would die after a year is if you're overclocking improperly. Though overclocking can be pointless if you buy high-end parts! There's no real need to overclock something that already runs things without issue at your preferred settings. Example; Overclocking a 7990 and i7 3770K to play BF3 would be pointless. Just cause I was bored and found a post I made elsewhere (note; this spoiler is a long read!); -

Anything Mid to Full size ATX will work. Not sure who you buy from in the UK so I can't link to anything definate but some examples; Full; http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811146067 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811119225 Mid; http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811146058 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811119197 The motherboard being the major deciding factor in case size, since yours is ATX you'll need a minimum of Mid-ATX case (normal size for an average computer). Full-size ATX will be, well, bigger, and in turn gives plenty of room for wire routing, peripherals, cooling options, etc. The only time you could really run in to an issue is if you used a large PSU, such as 1200W+. They are considerablly longer and some smaller cases would cause issues. Really anything from a good brand in the above sizes will be fine; NZXT, Cooler Master, Lian-Li, Antec, Corsair, etc.

We apologize to anyone affected by the attempted hacker/script-kiddie tonight. He was quickly dealt with by Gotcha! but we are unsure if he did any damage before being caught. I also apolgize to the person I accidentally kicked that was doing nothing wrong. Gotcha! was being slightly glitchy and I said to kick the script-kiddie and it kicked the wrong person! This incident aside we have had no issues with the server and thank everyone who has stopped by and hope you had fun! Regards, Xcel

I use the Sapphire 7970 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008 ) and personally it's not loud. How annoying the sound is depends purely on the person using it. I use several high CFM / dB fans that drown it out for the most part, so personally it's not loud. Idle it's dead silent, when gaming IF it hits 100% fan it can be a little whiny, but speakers will drown it out mostly, more so if you game with a headset. It also depends on how you control the fans. I have it custom to go to 100% at 55c, but it'd be safe to not have it go to 100% unless you hit much higher temps if you're worried about noise over extra heat.

ARMA2 OA Build 101747 is not installed. Gotcha! Anti-Hack seems to be working well for us and we will be sticking with it. There have been no false-positives and we have been able to keep a constant eye on any suspicious player activity. It also allows us to set up working auto-messages regarding reboots as BEC is crashing for us. The ad that repeats itself every 30minutes is said to go away with a future version, we apologize if it annoys anyone joins us. Regards, Xcel

We have switched from DayZ AntiHax to Gotcha! Anti-hack to see if it works any better for us. Since AntiHax was giving us more and more false positive bans/kicks, we are hoping this will fix that issue. Regards, Xcel

Server now running; ARMA2 OA Build 101480 DayZ 1.7.5.1 Reality v1.0 Server 'scripts.txt' has also been updated to eliminate the false Script #44 issue hat was occurring after the update. As always, any questions, concerns, comments, etc, let us know! Regards, Xcel

DayZ Anti-Hax has been reinstalled from scratch; with any luck this fixes all issues we have had with it. Anyone still getting kicked/banned due to it, please let us know. We have also cleaned up various logs to try and ensure it doesn't ban from old logs. Auto-Reboots have been re-enabled after they broke a while back and we missed it. BEC has been slightly altered after finding an error that could have been causing issues. We are still working with SurvivalServers to get BEC working assuming that was not the issue. We have warning messages set up for auto-reboots; these are purely Test messages for now! We are unsure if they are properly aligned with the timezone of the actual reboots, nor do we know if BEC is even working yet. SurvivalServers is showing an issue with BEC starting that they are working to fix. Vehicles, sandbags, wires, crash sites, etc, have all been cleaned up and re-spawned. We will attempt to keep on-top of this better as it has not been up-kept over the last 2 weeks. Vehicle Max Count lowered to 150. As always, any questions, concerns, comments, etc, let us know! Regards, Xcel

Arma is, as mentioned before, very CPU heavy (through itself and poor optimizing), and I honestly haven't a clue how much more DayZ mod is putting on the CPU. Have to remember it's a mod so it's bound to stress more than the base game for various reasons. If it's adding enough to just burden the CPU too much the GPU won't even bother using 100% as the CPU is just too burdened to get 100% GPU usage. If the CPU can't even keep up with the game it won't be able to let the GPU do its full job. If it really is an issue with the GPU, one way to test would be compare your FPS to benchmarked scores of the same game at the same settings (something less CPU intensive). If the GPU isn't performing properly those would also be low. If the scores are really close it's likely just due to small differences, and the CPU of course; though that should be less of a factor in less intensive games. If you have anything like Crysis 2, Metro 2033, AvP, Mafia 2, GTA IV, BF3, SCII, etc, they all have benchmarks to compare to. Some with Benchmarking tools some without, but it's a good start if there's thoughts of it being the GPU. Another thing of note; is that res you run your monitors native res? Normally speaking things run marginally better if it's at its native setting.
-
Arma is far more CPU intensive then GPU intensive really. It uses about 40-50% of my GPU but all my CPU and there is no real bottleneck for the GPU, it's just more intensive on the CPU. If you feel comfortable doing so you can try a CPU overclock. Just to assure you, the low FPS likely isn't your GPU per say. I get lower FPS in towns in DayZ compared to anywhere else running a Radeon 7970. Low FPS isn't any issue in any other game unless it's equally CPU heavy (or piss-poorly optimized). Just in CPU heavy games like this our AMDs are lagging a little behind. I'm not abot to re-type my overclock thread from another website (don't wanna clog this thread for one), but just a very very basic comparison from it; No overclock; Graphics Score - 8344 / Physics Score - 3876 / Combined Score - 3842 Overclock; Graphics Score - 10308 / Physics Score - 4482 / Combined Score - 4360 Those are 3DMark11 scores of no overclock vs an overclock on the CPU/GPU. A small boost in speed can go a long way if you feel safe doing it and are safe about it. We have essentially the same CPU and at 3.0GHz I get 41FPS avg in the benchmark, at 3.8GHz it's up to 50FPS, just as a comparison. Mind you my GPU will carry me a bit more. :)

Only real issue I see is the PSU. Rosewill, though maybe getting better, isn't one of the more reliable brands. SeaSonic, or Corsair are really the top being that Corsair uses Seasonic in most of theirs. CORSAIR Professional Series HX650 650W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139012 Few more dollars but it's worth it, can get it for 89.99 after the promo code. Anything else is more personal prefrence. CPU I don't know Intel so can't comment there. Some Benchmarks though if you wish. As for GPU, that'll depend on your buedget, we could easily suggest the best for around a grand. :)

Game Server Hosting by SurvivalServers.com *** INSTANT SETUP | CUSTOM CP | FTP | CUSTOM MODS | ANTI-HACK **
xcelsior replied to SurvivalServers (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
We had the same issue on ours but it was due to DayZ Anti-Hax. For us anyway it was due to Anti-Hax re-applying bans for things still in the logs. Such as "Banned for xxxxx remoteexec" *remove ban in bans.txt* "Re-bans player upon log-in". We had to go in and delete the logs files from the File Manager and (this part may not be needed) reupload a blank file with the correct name/extension. It gave that log a blank slate to work off and Anti-Hax didn't ban for old "incidents" again. Anti-Hax, for us anyways, is so annoyingly sensitive to things it does get annoying as hell but we try to keep on top of it. :) We actually have an issue with BEC atm that SS is helping us resolve and, unless we're special, aren't having any issues with responce times or 'lack of help' that so many are mad about. Then again I have helped people from a tech support type role before so I've learned to be extremely patient. Did have 1 ticket that was a bit 'lack-luster' but my mood likely didn't help how I saw it. Having used small companies in a few games I've learned it may take time but for the most part they try their best to help, people just have to be patient and level-headed.
