US16 Bearcats server - Shutting Down

I understand the basics of Overclocking, just didn't think 1.35v would be an issue on an H80i unless the i5/7s run hotter than I thought. :) Personally I run an FX-8320 at 4.8GHz + 1.5v and temps are fine under load (only break 60c using Prime95). I also only skimmed the thread a bit so the quoted bit from before just caught my eye as a little odd is all.

How hot does that 3770K run? I use AMD so honestly I don't know the normal range for i5/7s. I ask since the chart you posted shows voltage ranges about what the FX/Phenom has and the H80(i) is more than adequate for 1.35v on FX/Phenom. Obviously comparing Apples to Oranges but I didn't expect i7s to run so much hotter than an FX (8320 in my case) that 1.35v would be an issue.

Not sure about queueing files, but if your computer can handle it have you tried just rending multiple videos at once? I just opened Vegas twice and started rendering 2 different videos as a test to be sure it's possible, bit stressful on the CPU but it works. Course if you have more than 3 videos to do the CPU could be very mad at you in the morning.

Dayz Performance (CPU Decision Purchase)
xcelsior replied to stagpul's topic in Technology/Programming
The ol AMD vs Intel argument....it never ends. Simply put Intel is 'better'. That isn't to say AMD is bad, but Intel is simply better (and don't go comparing an 8350 to an i3 to prove some point). I use AMD as I don't have the money for Intel, but AMD still works perfectly for everything I throw at it. If I did more Video Editing I'd want Intel, hands down. For the gaming and very minimal editing I do though AMD is perfect. It will always be about 'what performs good enough at what I do the cheapest'. As stated above by others "Whatever is best for your budget at your time of purchase." More on-hand though, AMD performs fine in Arma for being such a poorly optimized game. As a comparison to anyone who has a similar Intel-based system that wishes to see any FPS change (I'd be curious too); Test Settings; Results; As to the OP That sounds like a very fine choice! From benchmarks I've seen the 660ti is a very good card and the 3570K will power it along quite nicely. :) -

Personally would say use AM3+ socket but the APUs seem to be doing very well for a budget. Though if you can stretch it, AM3+ (Vishera) + dedicated GPU will fare better. The main "issue(s)" though; Use faster RAM. With the APUs you will want at least DDR3-1866 to power that thing along. Not sure how fast it supports but 1866 is extremely reccomended. Would personally suggest using a SeaSonic or high-end Corsiar PSU (HX series), wattage should be fine til ya start with SLI/CrossX, though I would suggest 650 to be future-proof. Platinum rating is nice but for consumer grade a Gold is all you'll need. Hell from a good brand Bronze will work on a budget. Aisde from that it looks good. :) -
Okay so I just have to ask....

Well obviously no one would want to merge with someone who's a bad admin, those are the servers with no players anyways! :P There are likely plenty of servers with a small player base and good admins that could stand to merge and make it more worthwhile. Really should be some kind of system in place to stop the new servers popping up every day. So many come and go I gave up trying to find one to stay with, hence renting one. That and there were so few vanilla servers at the time...flavor of the month had taken over by then, whether it be Tavi, or base building, or 500 vehicles, or whatever. Honestly I just flat-out admin, its what I do...it's what I've done for years now...odd as it sounds it's what I prefer. Even if I don't play much, I'll admin a server when possible. Not so much to be 'all powerful' (though it can be fun in some games heh) but for the opportunity to help off the front lines, so to speak. I may consider checkin' out the MC though, it's been so long since I played....so very long. Many a long nights being the sole admin of a public MC server, needed a long break. -

With the right people behind it, it can certainly take off well. :) I've been tempted to start up another MC server but I've just not had the will. Most people host so as to cater to their wants (not saying you do!), but I always hosted just to let others have fun, long as others had fun I was more than happy to pay for a server. Sadly that's the biggest issue anymore, that and likely less players compared to a few months ago. Really having less servers would cause a bigger issue with script-kiddies, but would also have a consentrated Admin base to help with that. If it cut down to having just enough servers to fill every server on all the maps it'd likely be more fun, but every one and their dog wants a server these days. ...Course I can't say much being that I have one. I'd be willing to migrate a few small ones together, but people just don't care for it I'd imagine. -

Best of luck building a community of gamers, damn does it take a long time. Back when I hosted a MC server we had about 50-70 or so people, and that was after 2 years of hosting. :) -

2am isn't night, it's morning. :P Really I'd imagine it's just due to being...well...night. Most people get tired as I'd imagine it's a US server, likely drawing a US crowd. Short of a younger player base most people will want sleep at night (that sounded more dumb then it should have). There will always be a down-time unless you host a server that gets good ping in more than 1 country. -
