    Nighttime and metagaming

The most fun I had in DayZ Mod was at night running around with a flashlight. No way I want them to remove that. Just because most people are to sissy to use their flashlights, flares and chemlights. I'd rather have people turn up their gamma than play in a night that really is just day in black and white.

    $29.99

Rocket also said at some point that he no longer thinks the Minecraft Model would be the best for DayZ and that he's been trying to get BIS to make it more expensive. He even said he would rather have it be like Planetary Annihilation and have it cost 90$ so only the ones that really want this game get it and you won't get the kind of people that buy it because it's cheap and then complain about it being buggy and unfinished. So I guess the guys complaining are lucky Rocket didn't get his way.

1.7.7.1 pvp nerfing and opinable changes

It's a wonder people are still playing the mod. Haven't you seen everything there is to see yet? I got tired of it fast once all the kill on sight went down.

Third person vs First person view

Funny how most people want to remove third person because it's an exploit and gives and unfair advantage in a firefight... uhm... I'm not sure if I missed something but isn't DayZ supposed to have a focus on survival and not a PvP shoot out? Seriously if you guys want to play a shooter maybe you should go somewhere else? As for 1st Person being immersive... well I'm lying in the grass in first person, I can't see shit in front of me... I'll just stick my head out a little... wait can't do that... that's immersive! 3rd Person accounts for a lot of shit you can't do in the game, like stick your head out to look out of a bunch of tall grass. But that's not even why I want it to be in the game, I just prefer 3rd Person. That's called personal preference, I don't have to make up shitty excuses why it's better or worse.

What if we removed the crosshair?

Funny how people argue with realism on the part of removing the crosshairs... I mean it's totally realistic that you wouldn't know where you're actually pointing your gun! /sarcasm I think you can just remove it, it's not that big of a feature that I'd be missing it really. The only time it's really necessary at the moment is with melee weapons because it is waaaay to hard to guess where you're hitting with those damned things. So maybe keep it for melee weapons until the melee system is improved? As for the whole 3rd Person talk... I much prefer 3rd Person view in general, not a big fan of 1st person. I like to look at my character.

v175 beta: meat issues [solved] [old]

Trying to make a health system that's based upon how much blood you have more 'realistic' is just dumb. The very idea of a 'health' system is unrealistic to begin with, but you can't really do it any other way in a video game. Talking about making the game more 'realistic' and using the word cooldown in the same sentance or even paragraph already discqualifies you for being stupid. Real life is soo much more complex you simply can't mimik it so trying to do that is crazy. Rocket said it himself, the game should be authentic not realistic, that is a huge difference. Cooldowns are not authentic, except maybe in the case of food and drink but I wouldn't go and call that a cooldown in the first place. If you want to make Bloodbags less usefull, reduce the amount of Blood they restore. You want to introduce a 'cooldown' on food? Sure, but make it reasonable. Give it a higher rate of blood regeneration, to balance the fakt that you can't eat that much. Make the game more challenging not unreasonably hard.
  12. I just turn off the Realtime Scanner while the file updates, once you're ingame you can turn it back on and it won't hassle you. But you have to do that everytime you log back onto a server. <_<

Death in DayZ and possible solution

A lot of people already do that. I try not to kill people so I don't have that problem really. The people I do kill usually don't bother with reclaiming their stuff and rather just go to their tents or get re-equipped by their buddies with the helicopters.

v175 beta: meat issues [solved] [old]

Not a big Fan of random faliures, I hate it when chance dictates my survival instead of 'skill', it serves only to make the game annoying instead of challenging. As for the whole blood bag thing, not really sure what to think of that. On one hand I can understand that they are somewhat 'overpowered' but on the other hand I can see a lot of situations where this will lead to frustration. You just had your nlood filled up before moving into the city and get attacked, almost die. Good thing you have a buddy with you... or not? The 10 minutes aren't over yet and you have to wait another six until you can recive another transfusion. In my opinion that's just stupid. I can see why they should be 'nerfed' but I don't thing these 'cooldowns' are the best way to do that, it might be the easiest way but certainly not the best. The 'cooldown' on food seems reasonable. But I think it would make more sense to be able to eat a number of three to four Steaks, Beans, etc, within a certain time period, let's say 20-30mins instead of saying you can only eat one every 3min. I think it's good that you now need the toolbox for Tanktrap and Wirefencing. What I don't undestand is why you would need one to lay down a beartrap. I've never used one myself in this thing called 'real life', I've only seen them in TV and the way they worked diidn't involve any tools. My two cents.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand why you wouldn't use your offical forum/website to communicate with your fans/community. Not everyone, including me, uses twitter or reddit so I've missed all those messages from Rocket. I kept checking the Forum for information and there is even that 'News And Recent Press' section on the website but nothing there except the whole debacle over the Hive Server being shut down. And then I read this article about Rockets statement on the whole The War Z debacle on some game news website while I was keeping me entertained by reviews and news from The War Z. I had a few good laughs until I came upon that article. When I read that I was like 'WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ?!'. So I hadn't heard anything from this guy in a while and then this... talk of quitting? I seriously thought I'd lost it and couldn't believe it. I'm sure it all sounds more serious than it really is, the written word always fails to portrait the whole picture. But I must admit I was pretty shocked.TL;DR Don't like the extensive use of Twitter/Reddit over the acutal Website. Just doesn't sit right with me. Why not at least use the 'News And Recent Press' section to let people know there is some movement going on.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

I really don't understand all this drama. I wasn't expecting a complete and done game to be released in December. All I was expecting was a DayZ with bugs and 'missing' features but without the limitations of the Mod. It was supposed to follow the Minecraft Model and release a basic version that doesn't even promise to be completely stable all the time. You'd be supporting the development with your money and for that you get access to the current build. What was bad about the War Z was not that they 'sold' access to their so called 'alpha' and 'beta' but rather their shady tactics in promising things they could not deliver on, blatantly lying to everyone as well as thier overall bad behavior towards their community. By keeping silent about things, not posting any news over 'official' channels and keeping the community uninformed I fear Rocket is going down a dark path and instead of distancing himself from The War Z, I feel, he is acutally putting himself in the same boat. What he represented to me was a stand up guy who kept in touch with his community, being open about everything. It seems this is now all over and it looks like the industy has finally spread its corruption onto our 'hero'. Anyway TL;DR the best way is always to be honest and open about things, hiding and keeping silent leads down a dark path. My two cents.

New Dev Blog Report: November 2012

The complexitiy seems cool but I didn't see a single animation for any action taken, all I saw was a green bar filling up. If they actually added animations onto that, it'd be great. To say it in Einsteins terms... everything is relative? Sure I want the gaming enviroment to be somewhat realistic but do I want travelling from one end of the map to the other to take me half a day? Uhm.. let me think on that.... no I don't. It's a game and I don't want to be forced to only be able to do one specific thing and I certainly don't want to be able to only do things I can do in real life because I'm not an athlete.Things should be more complex, harder to do but you shouldn't be prevented from doing them just because you didn't choose the right skill set when you made your character. Skills are simply the wrong way to go about it. It's so often used in games because it's an easy and cheap way to force teamplay.

    Change the Backpack carrying structure

The inventory is already being reworked. Not sure how 'realistic' they are going to make it though.

    Survivor camps/bases/houses + ingame money!

It all really kinda comes back to how persistant is the game world really? If everyone plays on a different server each time they log on, you'll never get a truely persistant world because the world is shaped by the people who live in it and if there is no persistance in that you will never be able to establish a trading standart(unless it's artificial). I really still hope they sell huge amounts of copies when they release and get to do the whole 'EVE-Online like server' structure, then we would have true(well truer - if that's a word) persistance within the game world. /wild phantasies I still want them to add loads of useless stuff to the game, uncluding Rubels. And I want to collect Comics... well okay I guess I want a mix of DayZ and Fallout Online. lol
