This is a fairly good way of stopping ESP hacks and such, but obviously won't stop hackers from sniping everyone in elektro. It's been acknowledged several times before by the dev team that hacking is a huge issue and needs to be addressed for the standalone. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if something like your idea hasn't already been implemented in the SA, but they're just keeping that kind of thing quite so the hackers have no idea what to expect. I think the longer we can keep the hackers from understanding the system, the better. it would also give them more time to improve the anti-hack

Dayz: Your Code of Conduct
aussiestig replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bored at work again, Demon? :D 1. Never trust anyone you're not in TS/Skype with 2. Don't kill anyone without a reason 3. Always put a pile of wood in a tent when I've looted it dry -
If you're running the 3 screens while playing dayz, then that is certainly the problem. As far as I know, SLI doesn't work properly in Arma 2. If you're only running 1 screen, then you've done something wrong, as I know a lot of people with the same 3770k, GTX 670 setup as you, and they get 60 constant

U.B.C.S. DayZ Movie Project <In Production>
aussiestig replied to zantiago's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just watched the first introduction you guys have made. I admire the fact you guys are taking on a project like this, when as you say, you have little recording experience. My personal gripe with the video is that briefings are never done inside of helicopters when on the way to a mission. You wouldn't just pop the question "so what are we actually doing here?" mid way through a flight for a real mission. I can also hear someone pressing what I would assume is a mechanical keyboard during the whole video. I'd suggest using push to talk on whatever voice chat program you use, and also on your recording software. -
Server management & stand-alone
aussiestig replied to taco241's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In my opinion, people should be forced to sign some kind of contract to say they will keep the server up for 'x' amount of time. Maybe a minimum of 3 months or something like that. If you cannot afford to keep a server up for the period of time you say you will keep it up for, then you should not be hosting. -
There are no instances where hacking is okay. None. I don't care whether he's hacking in a bloodbag to give to a stranger on 1 blood, it's not okay. It makes it worse that he does kill a lot of people, and they pretty much can't do anything about it at all.
-
Because he's a hacker. A lot of people still say "oh he's still great to watch, even if he is hacking', but it's personally ruined it for me. I still watch his video's, but start to see how often he does hack in his video's. But on topic, it has been used by Frankie as a word to describe a new player since he started making video's, and the term was quickly taken onboard by the DayZ community and is used commonly now in DayZ.

Will standalone get new forums?
aussiestig replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So you're keeping the 'dayz game' forum, on the 'dayz mod' website? That doesn't make any sense to me to be honest. -
Will standalone get new forums?
aussiestig replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Considering they've already bought the domain name dayzgame.com, and this website is called 'dayzmod.com', I'd take a guess and say that the standalone forums will be on the dayzgame.com website, where as the mod discussion will remain on here. If the standalone forums were on a website called dayzmod.com, that would be pretty deceiving. -
250+ vehicles and Max vehicles?
aussiestig replied to MastaChggf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you want the real DayZ experience, then you need to play on servers with less than 100 vehicles. 250 vehicles means you'll have one working within 30 minutes of spawning, and then you can drive everywhere, which isn't what the game is about. -
Sounds harsh, but people make 'xXx420xXx' parody's because people who put '420' in their gamertag/channel names are generally kids or immature teenagers who want attention. Literally searched '420 blaze it' on youtube, and this is the first video: Strong language This is the kid of reception you'll get with that kind of channel name...

Your channel name...it's...terrible

When arma says "cannot play dayz.chernarus deleted" or something along those lines. You've launched the wrong mods. I'd take a guess and say you're not actually launching dayz at the moment. Make sure the only mod you're launching is @dayz when you start up the game through whatever it is you use to launch. If you still get an error, delete the @dayz folder out of your OA steam directory and re-install DayZ 1.7.4.4.

Why would I record a conversation with someone I was having? I've talked to orlok about this, and there will be official confirmation on the subject soon enough. I'll give you a heads up and say that it's what I posted earlier. I got the exact same answer when I talked to Matt last night.
-
Go for it, but my impression of you is someone who isn't accepting of others play-styles, and I'm sure it is for many others reading your post. After all, you're the ones meant to be setting an example on here.

Yes there are still plenty of players and plenty of servers to choose from. The standalone doesn't look like it will be out for another month or 2 atleast, so you're left with whether or not you can afford to buy both games within the next few months or not. If not, wait for the standalone. If the answer is yes, then go for it, ArmA 2 is a great game and you can still play it after DayZ moves on.
-
Oh lets all bash some groups because they have fun doing something. I'd never train in DayZ because it's a game I don't play seriously, but I train in ArmA 2 with an ArmA 2 group because it's really fun. Will we ever go into competitive gaming? No, we'll never even play against another ArmA 2 group, let alone in a competition, we do it because we enjoy it. It's not for everyone though, and this is the same case here. It's not the kind of thing most people want to do, but why bash the people who do want to do it, if that's what makes the game fun for them? Even forum moderators?

Bonfire, buying bases and 'rules'
aussiestig replied to jdz (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I personally hate servers with more than 100. I'm playing on one right now that about 100 or just over, and it still feels too much. I killed some near NEAF, found a heli and flew around to a crashsite or 2, came back to NEAF and he was there with a black SUV. I've found a few servers in the past that make fun of the servers with 300+ vehicles though, with names like "14000000 vehicles". It's a common thing done by servers in order to raise the money to keep hosting. On one hand it's good to see they are atleast giving people back something for donating, but on the other, it's a disadvantage to everyone that doesn't buy it, which ruins the game. Not to mention starting with gear would make the game extremely boring, wouldn't it? I love gearing up 10x more than actually having gear already. -
I asked the question "are we allowed to reveal if we access to the closed technical testing for the DayZ standalone?" yesterday and I was pretty much given the answer "No" by a mod on. Anyway, I just asked Dean about it, and he said yes you can reveal it, just don't gloat about it. You're also allowed to stream if you want, or you can upload video's if you want. There are effectively no restrictions on what you tell and/or show people.

Why Was Soldier Clothing Removed?
aussiestig replied to Symthic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Soldier clothing is the exact same as camo clothing, just with a helmet. -

AU #500 is one of the most hacked Australian servers out there, I wouldn't recommend playing on it at all. -
DayZ Standalone streaming topic
aussiestig replied to DieBrotmafia's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are we allowed to post whether or not you're part of the closed testing? I would have thought an NDA would be there so you don't release info to people who aren't part of it, but maybe I'm wrong -
