Against. IRL you can peek through bushes by just moving a leaf, round corners with a small mirror or just the very edge of your face. In a game its much harder/impossible to replicate. Instead of forcing everyone to do this 1st person junk... leave it as a server side setting. Those who want it can put up servers that firce it, and those who don't wont. Thats the way it is now... and you can see what most servers choose.

Translation of many posts above: "X Y Z doesn't belong. If you don't like it, uninstall. And don't post." People who "discuss" like this need to get over themselves. Why even enter a suggestions forum if you are gonna act like that? Your view only allows your single solitary way. My view allows people to play your way OR my way... or some variation other than that. Mmmmm... but ok. Let me just be clear again because none of your replies really got what I said. Ok... ready? If it is done with SERVER SIDE SETTINGS to ALLOW EACH SERVER to turn OFF everything, some things OR nothing IF THEY WANT TO then YOU CAN PLAY ON SERVERS WITH NO ICONS, NO NUMBERS, NO STATS, NO PLAYER LISTS, etc. And I CAN PLAY ON ONES WITH WHATEVER I WANT. So, you will not in the least be affected by my preferences (you'll be on a different server) and I will not be bothered by your preferences (I'll be on a different server). But I guess the fact that somewhere, someone is playing DayZ in a way different from what you (and apparently Rocket?) think it SHOULD and MUST be played... AND ENJOYING IT.... will keep you up at night in cold sweat, shivers, fear and anxiety... therefore no options, not even server side selections should ever be allowed! Because of your narrow opinion of what fun is & should be, it becomes the only reasonable, real, and possible way to have fun... for everyone. Server side options captures the "niche" players and others too. Whats so wrong, terrible, & unforgivable about that? Server side settings would be the SIMPLE solution - a win win situation FOR EVERYONE. But if you can't (or won't) see that, and allow people OTHER THAN YOURSELF a way of enjoying the game... all I can say to such people is: DERP D'DERP DERP. P.S. It is up to Rocket whether he wants to make money or not from his efforts. Theres nothing wrong with making money from your work. In fact, my suggestion would allow Rocket to make even more from the same amount of work, as well as providing more people enjoyable options adjustable according to their preference. At this point I seriously doubt you will agree. Your minds are closed to any other views obviously. But I know you can see what I am seeing. Its not that hard to grasp. -

I just lol at these "maybe its not for you..." comments. All I suggest is that the options be available to server side settings. If you wanna play blind as a bat, then hop on X server. If I don't then I hop on Y server. But what you guys suggest is rather silly... "Don't allow these options because thats not in Rocket's artistic dream for a zombie apocolypse". rofl "Get on with your life"? So what, I can't enjoy the game because you prefer a very narrow definition and very narrow vision of how it "should" be? I can't comment in the suggestions thread about allowing options so that not just you, but many others can enjoy the game too? rofl Gotta love people like this... -

lol... No one here is asking for an arcadish game with melodramatic msuic every time a player is withing range of you (whether you know it or not). Thats WarZ and its a joke... But all the arguments for "you know how much to eat if you know your exact blood..." are really over done arguments. I always find more food than I can eat (cans and animals) & usually have enough food in my pack to completely heal myself. Hows that for realistic? So its not really an advantage to know the specific number... its just a convenience that does not change the game. The truth is, I've always liked numbers. Its a fact that many people do. Numbers are no more realistic or unrealistic than a vague icon. We don't have floating icons to our right side in real life do we? In real life I don't need an icon or statistical readout to know how hungry or thirsty we are. But a game needs that information (in some form) or you never know when your guy is gonna keel over from starvation. While people have differing opinions about to what degree readouts should give info... in the end it doesn't matter so much as people say. When you're low on blood and your vision is black and white, when you're passing out... does it matter or change anything whether you have the specific number or just the flashing icon? One is more specific than another but does not really change things. Its not a "game changer", but definitely is a preference. I've played a lot of games that had numerical readouts, then converted to vague icons. I hated that change and many of those games (made me feel less into the game) and I did leave those behind because it became less clear and less enjoyable not to know the details of my character/actions/etc. Yes, Rocket can do whatever he wants to. He can make this zombie game as realistic (lol) as you can possible make a zombie game, and make it fun for only for an incredibly select few people. I'm sure some of you will be exceedingly happy about that and not care one bit about anyone else. But having options, different settins that can be used... broadens the player clientelle... and again this isn't so huge an advantage so as to "break the game". And, like day/night or 24/7 day servers... different servers can set the settings differently... so you can play on a super bare bones server all you want to.... and others can play with the info available. Why force everyone to play the game only your way by making the options not even available? (BTW I've seen servers that force 1st person... and they are usually empty, while 3rd person servers are usually occupied. Wonder why?) In the end, everyone plays for fun. Everyone has varying ideas on what fun is. All I'm saying is allow the settings to be set by the server so we all have a choice in the matter... herp derp. I know.... I know.... TL:DR nyah nayh lol -

Ahhh seriously. So many internet heros. Interpretation of the above: "If you don't like the way I think (since my way is the only way, the best way!) you should go play another game & quit whining"? How utterly self centered and inconsiderate. If you have such a cow over someone turning on a debug monitor, please grow up. Let others have fun, not just yourself. And its funny... some people complain that others are complaining, and whine about others whining. Isn't that how it works? Just keep the discussion civil at least, even if you disagree. Its too easy to be a jerk and dis people. It takes maturity to differ and still be cool about it. PS Having a numerical value for your health doesn't change what your health is. Doesn't make your health recover faster. Doesn't clear your vision when its blurry. Some people just like to know specifics rather than some vague color scheme icon. If its some huge advantage... does it get you more kills than those who don't use it? Does it make your health recover faster than those who don't use it? Does it mean zombies will now not detect you farther away? Nope. Nope. Nope. -
Its not realistic for me to spawn every time in jimbob baseball cap gear. It kills my immersion. I should be spawned either by the mediccal tents in Cherno wearing full camos with an m249 and 4 mags, or the NW airfield would do... I mean seriously... I'm a military type. So thats realistic for me.

Its as easy as renaming your character to hide who you are. If theres no skin change for repeated murders... its detrimental to the game. You can already hide the bandit skin if you find clothes. People... its a game. If you want real life, real actual life... not debug monitors, no clothing changes for bandit/hero, etc. - then why have respawn, zombies, etc? Those are no more "realistic". But your going to make the game "fun" only for a very very few people if you take away everything except the bare, bare bones items you like. Its... a... game... people. -
They already reload. Just leave the 240 box in the heli inventory. When you run out in the gun... it reloads. : P As for running out fast... its a 100 round mag... people just don't know how to use fire control. lol

uhhh... no. I've been playing a private server for the last week. Active admins. Seen them ban several for stuff. But STILL there are hackers getting in. Even whitelisted servers.... I've seen hackers running amok. We understand this is alpha. We understand some people don;t wanna hear complaints unless they agree with everything that complainer says. But the bottom line is... hackers are the biggest issue right now. I have never and do not ever planto use hacks. But I know of some who use some thing called an ESP hack or such? It reads vehicle locations before BE kicks in, then shuts down... leaving markers on that persons map. I can fraps a guy who teleports or creates junk. But theres no way to stop cheaters like that from my end. Devs could write out some detection thingies...or something that wipes the map after BE kicks in... And same with other hacks. One PRIVATE server I've been on, I repeatedly get attacked by some lame, can't hit squat hacker who pulls an invisibility hack. Write a detection thing... please. Stop the madness. Handle duping? Fine. Handle hacker first though... So - private, whitelisted is not a magic solution at all... I wish it were.

Make it work again. It does interest people to see their own info and those who don't like it can just leave it turned of... lol? Dunno why people think that it ruins THEIR fun if OTHERS want to be able to see their OWN character info. -
You don't need a stun arrow... just chunk a can at someone. lol...
-
If you want skill gained by use... go play Skyrim (cough). I'd actually likie spawning in with more gear. I think I've played long enough to have earned SOMETHINg that I can keep. I know a number of people who used to be excited about the game who are becoming more disappointed over time at losing everythign every death, every hacker, every tent glitch/raid, etc. One server I got on last night started everyone with cross bows and 5 bolts. That was actually fun.

customized clothes with more for standalone ?
seddrik replied to Flexxo 4100's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Zombies in recent patching have started running uber fast again and auto hitting without any animation.... which is lame. Zombies are supposed to lumber, moan and groan, then wack you after swinging at least a decaying arm at you... these zombies are'nt act'n right. And I want custom clothes. I hate looking like dippy doo the baseball cap guy. -
* Universal weather i.e weather same on every server Why bother? * Time is the same on every server Why bother? People live in different timezones... a guy on the east coast gets off school/work hours before guys on the west coast. But force them to all be on the same time table in game? * Speed up the time full day every 6 hours Why? So we can get Arma2 glare/light blindness more often from the sun being on the horizon? * Make sure torches are easy to equipped and use Never use a torch. Its a rookie move that will get you shot. Don't force everyone to the same day/night cycle. Has no one noticed how many, many servers EMPTY OUT when they go nightcycle? I leave because if there is no moon- I can't see a thing. I don't find playing a game enjoyable with a black screen... so don't force sych nonsense... And I doubt NVG are gonna be made more available. And don't force everyone to abide by the day/night cycle... for the same reason. Servers that are 24/7 day that I have been around are full all the time. (I wonder why! What do more people find fun? SEEING the game or not seeing the game?) Sped up day night cycle? Meh. Same issue. You'll just have people leaving servers.

That link is very old... "The latest DayZ Beta Patch 'DayZ 1.7.2.6 + Beta 96584' supports the option to turn ON and OFF the Debug monitor..." More recent patching added the combat timer and now debug does NOT show even when you turn it on. I agree, bring it back. Realism is one thing, but let people enjoy their game... -
Just 3 in main inventory? heheh When I go crossbowing... I have a full main inventory of bolts and usually more in my pack!
-
Nah, sometimes its hard to find the bolts after firing. Especially into zombies. Half the time I think they either fall on the bolt or they fall into an object (wall or whatever) and hide the bolt that way. But thats partly why people are asking for stackable bolts. Its just silly to have to have one bolt per inventory slot... and be forced to reclaim every single one manually all the time. Wouldn't mind reclaimig all I could... if they were at least stackable in a decent amount. (Need to be able to shoulder a second rifle too. Cough)

This forum always seems sluggish, and I often get error messages saying pages are not accessible. Everytime I think about coming to read things, I ask myself if I have time to waste just to get to one thread... because it takes so long. I've no clue what the issue is. But I don't think its just me, because surf the web elsewhere and be perfectly fine/fast. Just a thought...

Zombie aggro should initiate the "combat timer"
seddrik replied to sobieski12's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Even better! NEVER, under ANY circumstances, allow people to log off the GAME! Period! DayZ is zeriouz bizness! (I run thru cities all the time and DON'T log off... yet lose the zombies easily... probably just newbies who haven't learned how to manage them. Don't punish everyone else who plays just cuz ur mad people.) -
Dont make them faster. They used to run stupidly fast, but were slowed down to normal bipedal running speed. It seems like they ahve been sped up again... maybe this is a sideffect o fthe no delay zombie hit patching? Now... if you walk within 10 feet your liable to get hit BEFORE any animation is shown. Derp!
-
I just wanna be able to keep my stupid camos when I die. I'm tired of looking like dippy doodle the baseball cap boy. lol
-
the Xbow is redone... (kinda ugly in that picture but...) ok. It works great without a scope as is, but the standalone will have one? Whats the scope range? And, most importantly, will bolts be stackable? If so, how many per stack? IRL you can have a stack of 21 bolts in a bundle pretty easily.

What about making equiment more rare(especially weapons)?
seddrik replied to Heathcz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Uggg.... dunno why you guys think such changes will prevent people from killing/pvping. People will kill anyways. They kill because you have a bigger backpack, better gun, and just for fun. Making things even more rare will result in more killing, because they will have more "reason" to kill you... With current changes, things are going to be even more rare as is. Several tent/vehicle issues have made some servers not save stored gear. Zombies have become stupid with their no animation auto hit within 10 feet (and are they running faster again? They look like they are doing a bionic sprint again...). Add to this the changes to tents (i.e. inability to hide tents as effectively) which results in what gear you do find being more easily found and raided. I'm (obviously) dissatisfied with these kinds of changes. It is one thing to have to regear once in a while, and hunt for gear, but constantly grinding for gear... then finally finding one thing only to die or have it stolen 5 minutes later has a very limited appeal. I tried WarZ... and its stupidly lame. Arma2 is far better. So, please remember that this is a game. Keep it fun please... and don't make it grindy and boring (like nerfing the pistols so much). -
Yup... just as expected. The very FIRST time I get on after the update. If see a bandit. Line up one shot on him. He doesn't die from a headshot with a DMR. I'm in combat... his buddy suddenly is in a helo over me and crashed less than 100m away. Jumps up and runs to me and pistols me. Can't alt F4 due to the new patch. I could have got away... but not now. THANKS MUCH! Great patch. : / Suggestion: 1. Remove the log out penalty since hackers will now destroy legit players even more. 2. Add WHO killed who so people can track who is doing this hacking junk. simple.
