I think most agree that current tents are insufficient. For those who want/enjoy their gear being stolen easily... fine use whatever is easily found and challenge yourself with starting with nothing each time if that keeps you interested. For others we like to keep something in stock and THAT keeps us motivated to play more. I like being able to hide stuff and find it still there each time. So IMO providing the ability to better hide things would be great. Those who dont want to do that can choose to not use it.

LOL..... I wrote in another post a JOKE about how excessively rediculous people have gotten about the "realism" of DayZ. My farce of a comment? "You can never log off." This suggestion comes about as close to it as you'll ever get. Can you seriously think that leaving you character asleep and lootable is a good idea? Why even have gear in the game then? Why bother playing such a rediculous way? After the novelty wore off, this would be a huge flop as people would just run around looting sleepers... or camping them when they woke up.

Carz are now not as fun to use. The patch that made engines more common crowded out tires (which you need more of). The patch that took away the repair glitch, has made cars feel even more like paper... fragile pieces of glass. Before you could race, play around, have fun. There was always the risk of a serious wreck... hurting yourself, totaling the car, etc. But now... when even a minor, tiny bump totals a car and then you have to spend hours grinding for parts... its just not fun. I understand it was a glitch, but it really made the game more playable and entertaining. Some of the best times I and my friends have had have been with vehicles. Solution: 1. Either bring back the repair glitch, or 2. Make cars tougher AND wheels more plentiful. Don't turn the game into a grind fest please... keep it fun.

Eh. Just take away everything. Guns, cars, tires, gas. You should NOT have anything, not enjoy this, this is survival, NOT FUN!!! End of story.

DayZ Standalone: How the feature of finding written notes from those who died in the outbreak could function
seddrik replied to logan23's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Examples of notes: "I was here, now I'm gone. You'll forget me before too long." "Beware of zombies." "You're so ugly.... even zombies run from you." "Rocket is a nub." "Drop your food or die. You have 5 seconds to comply." "In the time it takes you to read this note, I've lined up my shot..." (BANG!) "I'm looking for tires, come to Cherno if you have one..." -
Without extensive coding I doubt such a detailed arrangement would be worked out. There are differences in bullets tho. The 45 cal pistol for example, was designed to stop drugged VC soldiers who couldn't feel pain. Its a slower bullet that carries a lot of energy and THUMPS into a person throwing them back. It is thus really frustrating to have to empty a full mag into a body in game to kill anything with it. But... there will always be cries for weaker weapons to give people a chance against being jumped and killed quickly. Just like the 50 cal... a lot of people hate it because they get sniped by it... one shot. So what can you do? I personally liked weapons doing more damage also. Especially if they are gonna be more rare... Certainly more realistic than current damages. But then, dunno if Ill even be palying SA the way its seems to be going.

Discussion of the standalone defecation\poo feature

Sounds... fun. Really. I mean it. Wonder why other popular games don't have this as a common feature? Hmmm? -
Discussion of the standalone defecation\poo feature
seddrik replied to Dancing.Russian.Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thats the sad thing about it. He is over 30 and doesn't know how pooping in a game will go? Afraid of the unknown? Wow... thats really a lame, old troll response. I defecate IRL on a regular basis. Dunno how "fun" that is for you, but I never once thought about making that into a game... BUT if you wanna do that, go for it. : / And again, afraid of the unknown? One MMO I played had 3 missions where you had to pick up poo to complete missions. I kept wondering if they actually paid some stupid, idiot of a game designer to create those missions. Others who I played with (all of us regular/serioius gamers) thought those mission were utterly retarded because of that one thing. Who really wants to spend their fun time role playing messing with poop? Seriously... if you can't think of anything better than that... you really need to turn that computer off and walk out in the sunshine a little more. DayZ should no longer be considered a Zombie Game. It needs to be renamed to Poopy Party. Thats what it will become if this is implemented. -

I've got it!!! The new image and ad for DayZ Stand Alone! This will tell people what its all about!! PS As a friend said, "If I have to unzip my pants to play DayZ... I'll play something else." I agree. Good luck on your Defication Sim, tho. Sounds... awesome... (derp) -
IF food went more rare, then roll back how long food lasts you. This 30 min or less starvation would be even MORE annoying and grindy if food was more rare along with it... So, longer food timer with SLIGHLTY less food in stores... maybe. But not both.

Recent patching made engines spawn more, and resulted in less wheels/windows etc spawning. Recent patching made vehicles not repair anymore (used to auto repair if you were full green and dinged it then got out). I know.... it was a "glitch" but it was a balance for how stupidly easy it is to totally wreck a vehicle in DayZ. I seriously was going only 2 kph and bumped something... then EVERYTHING was yellow. So... I hope that the spawn rates will be adjusted for car parts, because Im not spending 2 hours farming for complete sets of car parts just to "ding the car" into wreckage again. Or/And make cars tougher, not as easily broken. Ive had a real car wreck at 35 mph, guy crossed my lane as I had a green light and I hit him in the back side of the car. Spun him round completely. All I had to do to my car was pull metal away from the wheel by hand and was able to operate the car just fine after that. Arma2/Dayz seems like cars are so much more fragile. Please don't make the game a grind fest. Let it stay fun.
-
I actually dont hit things often. But even if u go slow you do occasionally. It wouldnt be so bad if the game didnt make a universal mess of the car from a love tap. Engines got bumped from 1 to 6 percent (if I remember correctly). Which crowds out the wheels... Like you said, you need way more wheels than engines, so its really unbalanced right now.

For the standalone; please make the zombies a challenge
seddrik replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Actually, I've gotten the impression that DayZ was never intended to be a Zombie mod in the first place. It has been related to me that Rocket originally set it up after a harrowing experience on a survival training mission for the military. He set it up as a survival mod on ARMA II for training purposes. The commanders declined, so he added zombies to make it more appealing to the general gaming community and voila, here we are. So zombies were an after thought, a compromise for the sake of selling the survival training, *shrug* -
For the standalone; please make the zombies a challenge
seddrik replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Zombies right now are buggy. A patch or 3 back they were better. Currently if you watch them run they actually sprint faster than you by 3-4 times speed. And because of this speed increase the run all zig zaggy. If you haven't noticed, there is currently a no swing animation fast hit issue with zombies. EVEN a zombie behind a wall or getting up off the ground can fast hit you 2, 3 sometimes 4 times and never swing at you. Ive had more through the wall hits since that recent patch that "fixed" their dying animations... Also, this animation issue makes them harder to hit with an axe now. If you are close enough to swing, when they do swing at you if you atttack at the same time with the target dead on them... you will not even touch them. So they have a buggy unhitable moment now as they attack you. And zombies can one hit you... break your bones... which can easily result in your demise. Easy? Once you learn how to deal with them it gets easier to avoid them, but what do you want? Zombies with a huge spotting distance, super running speeds, one hit killing you all the time? Meh... they already patrol loot areas, and swarm you if you fire or go into houses with no back door. They already cry out if you are near and warn players who listen that you are there. -
Text equivalent of playing at night: I am now typing in black letters. But because you can't seen them without highlighting them you will not know if I am writing, just filling empty space, or posting links to youtube. If you enjoy playing that way... play on a server with no moon at night. Its novel for a bit... but gets old fast IMO. Most people are of a similar mind because people want to see the game and not a black screen. Theres a reason night servers are generally empty... Pitch black screen has a very limited fun value... even if you know a map/area, you get stuck on things and cant get into or out of houses. Kinda lame. The way the system is currently allows the option to play at night under variable conditions. If you like that, just hunt up the night servers and be a vampire... BTW if you highlighted this section to read it... you "cheated" as much as those who turn up brightness and gamma! : P I now return you to normal text...

Fabulous idea for trolling. I see some poor slob at distance... but all I have is a hatchet, pistol or one mag of some other gun I just picked up. I scroll... NAME this sucker and then use it like nameplates to track him... It provides an uneven balance. No longer do you have all using just eyes and sound or all using name plates in a server... now one guy who camps and sees you can NAME plate you and you will never know. Makes player hunting noobishly easy.

Should Painkillers/Antibiotics Have Use Count ?

Dayz = Zombie Mod Med School -
Eh, food timer is too short then if food will be more rare. As it is you eat what... every 30 min or less? Kinda annoying, feels like ur always clicking food. I'd like hunting more for food, but with a grindy fast food consumption rate... eh itd just get old IMO. It'll just result in shooting other players more for food.
-
Eh... just make the tents at balota produce something. Even a low spawn rate would be good. 99% of the time I get respawned west of Kamenka so that extra few minute walk to cherno gets old.

If someone else starts my combat timer, I should be able to kill them without gaining bandit status

Feedback on status of infectious diseases in DayZ

"The winner will be the last person to starve to death..." That sounds like where this is all going. lol -
I'd love to see more development on the animals. Some running away more (like the rabbit does, but better)... some that will actually attack you (wild boar or dogs). That kind of survival aspect is actually fun (there are some games out there just involving hunting) and adds some controllable risk/excitement to the game.

Feedback on status of infectious diseases in DayZ

I'd hope the Devs are smart enough to see when something goes too far before they actually walk off the cliff. Seems like a lot of games I've played through the years either go too far into tedious grinding, grinding, grinding or too far into boringly simple. I've never said don't add any medical complexity to Dayz. I just don't find any appeal what-so-ever in having to deficate in a game or such like. I mean... really? Even the mere mention of such retarded things by a Dev, much less the main game designer... makes me think this thing is heading in an exceedingly tedious & stupid direction. -

Dayz is a zombie mod built on a military sim engine. I've enjoyed this as a FPS to play with friends. I didn't even own Arma2, except to play Dayz on an engine I've known before (played OFP). Ace/acre has done medical aspects in a decent way. You have to know some things, it adds some specialization & challenge in, but not so much it hinders the game. HOPEFULLY Dayz will follow in a similar direction medically... but with recent posts and comments on defication, and other details, I'm understandably doubtful and suspicious of these extreme & tedious sounding proposals. All the uber sickness stuff just doesn't even sound fun to me. If thats the direction they wish to go, then the Devs certainly are able to do so... but if so, then they should rename the mod to "ER" instead of DayZ. Whatever the Devs' MO... this is the suggestions forum and so I am suggesting.
