Ultimate guide/information thread to increase performance
suspense posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hello everyone, lately i've grown a little tired of writing up the same replies to people having performance issues in several constant new threads, so i am making this in order to gather all my knowledge in one place, as well as hopefully have others share their experiences aswell. Let me start out first by saying this is only PART of the problem. Performance will never be optimal as long as object cleanup is bugged in Day Z Information and tips for advanced users(Such as overclocking, hardrive platters and ramdisk) will follow at the end of the post. Game Settings and Configs ArmA 2's ingame settings can only do so much, people with good rigs are experiencing low performance in ArmA 2, both singleplayer and DayZ(Even moreso Dayz due to object cleanup) the reason for this can be many things, ArmA 2 is not very efficient on multicore, ArmA 2 is also very dependant on the harddrive, which alot of PC users rarely think of as a bottleneck. You will find all your configs in your "My Documents" Folder, within the "ArmA 2" folder. Here you will have 2 config files containing various options, lets sart off with ArmA2OA.cfg Note! Please do not copy paste my set-up and use it as your own, make the edits as i describe which function does what, some settings here are specific from system to system and should NOT be changed. language="English"; //Dont edit this adapter=-1; //Dont edit this 3D_Performance=-4194304; //Dont edit this Resolution_Bpp=32; //Dont edit this Windowed=1; // 0=fullscreen 1=windowed mode Resolution_W=1680; //Use this to set Resolution specificaly, people with windowed mode will find this usefull as resolution sometimes wont stick Resolution_H=1050; ^ refresh=60; //Dont edit this winX=1729; //Dont edit this winY=33; //Dont edit this winW=1680; //Dont edit this winH=1050; //Dont edit this winDefW=1680; //Dont edit this winDefH=1050; //Dont edit this Render_W=1680; //This is 3D resolution -Editing this to match the ingame resolution can improve formance Render_H=1050; ^ FSAA=0; //This is Full Screen Anti-Aliasing. Lower = resolution of buildings and objects degrade quicker. 150000=low. Greatly improves performance to lower this, at expense of image quality Here is my personal configs, these are bringing me to 70-100 fps around the world, with 50-60 in cherno/elektro my system specs are CPU = i7 920 OC 3.8 GFX = Radeon HD6870 Ram = 6gigs DDR3 1600 NO SSD My config ArmA2OA.cfg FSAA=0; postFX=0; GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1 AToC=0; FXAA=0; PPAA=0; PPAA_Level=0; mouseSmoothing=1; HDRPrecision=0; My "Username.cfg" shadingQuality=0; shadowQuality=0; maxSamplesPlayed=32; anisoFilter=0; TexQuality=1; TexMemory=4; useWBuffer=0; tripleHead=0; sceneComplexity=150000; terrainGrid=50; Launch parameters Launch parameters can also help you increase performance, such as -maxmem= Limit memory allocation (in MB). 2047 is hardcoded maximum at the moment -window Displays ArmA windowed instead of full screen //OPTIONAL - CAN DECREASE PERFORMANCE -nosplash Disables intro and splash screens //OPTIOANL - NO PERFORMANCE EFFECT INGAME -cpuCount=X change X to a number less or equal than numbers of available cores. This will override auto detection ADVANCED USERS Hard drive storage is perhaps the most major performance hit with A2. If using a standard hard drive rather than a solid-state drive, you should migrate your entire A2 folder to the outer edges of your platters. You can do this with "Ultimate Defrag". Go into the options and add your Arma2 folder (the entire thing) to the high performance list. Run a "Consolidate" defrag and check the option for "Respect High Performance". Since A2 loads only bits of data from many of it's pbo files, a simple windows defrag can have your hard drive seeking half-- or even full sweeps as it reads one pbo or another that is placed randomly around the drive. [Battleye's activity] Updated daily with the effects of active banwaves
suspense posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
So, until darkraven123's post is back up, i am posting the effects and activity of battleye daily in this thread, with screenshots of global ban and detection reports. NO sensitive information will be shared here, no help on finding cheats, or where the screencaps are coming from. EDIT: I hope this is okay moderators, i have left out all sensitive information. A lot of misinformation goes around the forum about battleyes effectiveness, this is purely to redirect people here to see battleyes activity. This will eventually be added to Darkrevens post and updated there. 28th of june 2012 - Public script executer released - Detection Status : Detected on 10th of july 6th of july 2012 - Public Bypass released - Detection Status : Detected on 11th of July 15th of july 2012 - Public Script Executor with bypass released - Detection Status : Detected on 16th of july 1st of august 2012 - Public Script Bypass released - Detection Status : Detected on 2nd of august 1st of august 2012 - Public Script Executor released - Detection Status : Detected on 2nd of august 5th of august 2012 - Public Script Executor released - Detection Status : Detected on 5th of august(4 hours after release) 7th of august 2012 - Public Script Executor with bypass released - Detection Status : Detected on 9th of august 9th of august 2012 - Public script executor with bypass released - Detection status : Detected on 11th of august 2012 14th of august 2012 - Public script executor with bypass released - Detection Status : Detected on 15th of august 2012 Currently, roughly detections since start of timeline.- 48 replies

Rocket/DayZ team - Object cleanup - Are you aware?
suspense posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi guys, I keep pretty good track of most of the staff posts, and i felt it was time to make this thread as i have not been able to find any word on this for a long time now. Object cleanup in DayZ, this has been broken for the past 2 patches, Rocket you commented on the fact that it was broken when 1.7.2.3 was released(if memory serves me right) ever since, theres been no word on this. Are you guys attempting to fix this? Currently, load times on servers that has been running for a while are absolutely horrible, framerates in towns and main cities are terribly low. Overall gameplay performance is dipping drastically with server uptime as long as object cleanup is broken. Is it possible to get a bit of info on the status of this? Or atleast make us aware that you know this is a big problem? Regards Suspenselol -
War Z will be infinitely better than Day Z
suspense replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, WarZ will be 1000 times better then Day Z standalone, the screenshots clearly proves this. I can tell, because i have seen quite a few screenshots in my lifetime. -
Has rocket addressed the hacking?
suspense replied to budderism's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its not rockets job to address hacking in the Day Z MOD. Its BI and Battleyes, and let me tell you, it wont be fixed because it would require full rework of ArmA 2, which is about to be replaced by ArmA 3. If you are judging Day Z standalone(which wont have any of these "scripting" issues) on the mod, then you are truly (no offense) stupid. Trying to put this as polite as possible, but this is really the only word i can find for it. -
Your logic is flawed, you shouldnt judge people when you have no clue. It might have been false positive, he might have cheated, only battleye knows.

Someone hacked my account?
suspense replied to SafetyAlwaysOff's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Someone must not have seen Rockets post about people using hacked weapons(and battleyes faq site) Might want to get your facts straight. -
Someone hacked my account?
suspense replied to SafetyAlwaysOff's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You wont get banned for having "hacked items" also, no one hacked your account. In order to be using your "account" they would have to be using your CD key, which is unlikely, unless you gave it to someone obviously. -

Lets make 3 threads just to like.. Make sure people notices. Also, seems like you forgot what i would assume is the most important part of the thread. Ill let you figure whats missing. -
You won't make money on standalone or Arma3....
suspense replied to SmithyD's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Come standalone, there wont be any scripting, no spawning weapons, no nukes, no teleporting. Only possibly aimbot/wallhack, you wont feel the hacking anymore then you do now in BF3, CS, MW3. There you go, its been fixed -
Yes the ban is "forever" No the ban was not caused by your missing addon, i suggest you email battleye with the id and ask whats up. But it was not due to the error you were recieving.

EDIT: Post has been reviewed and approved by moderators and admins, below is a copy of what the post contained when i posted it first. This would normally go against everything i stand for, i would never ever speak of something that the moderators clearly state shouldnt be on this site, however, i feel like i need to make this post. Adrian(the guy posting all the fuzz about matt.) posted the radar program 15 minutes ago on a cheating site. I know a bunch of admins already use this program on their servers. This site requires manual moderation to inspect the files and make sure they are not malicious, the program was in fact malicious containing a trojan, i suggest every single admin that used this(even tho not allowed) to stop using it immidiatly. If mods deem this thread against the rules, i wish you take in this information and make your own as a warning, this is a huge threat to people running servers, lots of info could be leaked. NOTE: Please do not link to this program or anything "related" to it. If you dont know what this is, then dont mind this thread. For those that do, take the warning seriously.

I will respect your choice to not continue the discussion, and with that, i will leave the thread from this post on. However, i wanted to make one last comment on your "latest" response to me. You base your arguements on US and Canadian law, i spent the last few hours reading through the registrars of BI/DayZ and their other titles, and its under european law, which only strengthens my arguements. If you seriously feel for private hives, i suggest you read up on european law.

You are still completely oblivious to what i am saying. You obviously did not read the case files for the wow case, i did. Several main points in the case was breach of IP infringement and copyright. Only 3.4 million of the 88 million was due to profit gained off of microtransactions on wowscape, the remaning was damages from IP and copyright infringement. You keep argueing that "console" emulators are legal, yes, in fact, they are. IF! they are in fact completely emulated(not using bios files from the "official" bios). You still dont seem to understand, that you are emulating the hive, but still putting it together with mod files that are not yours. How you do not understand this, is beyond me. An "emulator" is not just an emulator, just like you cant actually compare the samsung cases to this. A console emulator is much different from MMORPG emulators in the game industry, Why? Because console emulators are rarely run on an actual console, they are also rarely using copies of biosfiles. And since its not a console(it usually runs on linux or windows) it does not hurt market, and its usually years behind. There has been several cases about console emulators, some in favor of the emulator, some in favor of the production companies. Its not _Per say legal_ An example, would be the nexon and odinms case, where modified client files were being released(which is whats used in things like lingor servers, or "anti-rocket" servers) the use of "legit" files with "unintented backend" is also unintended use of intellectual property=not legal without consent, this is BASIC LAW. Disney also shut down several emulated private servers for using ingame content(their world, core game etc) without consent. Nexus also _almost_ entered legal proceedings against a community developing private server emulators. My initial post came off wrong, i apologise for that. If you had read my other posts, you would realise my intentions and reasons for my arguements are intirely different. EDIT: Per your request, i read up more specifically on nintendo emulators, and what did i find.. Yes, like i already stated, an emulator is alright to build if its not using original bios files. However! It is not allowed to use an emulator to play nintendo games in an unofficial manner. Copyright law "No person shall circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to work protected under this title You are not allowed to "to “circumvent protection afforded by a technological measure” means avoiding, bypassing, removing, deactivating, or otherwise impairing a technological measure" The hive controls access to Day Z, emulating it privately is fine, emulating it publicly is against law without consent.

Really? Thats why samsung has been banned for selling its Galaxy Nexus in the US and germany, even tho its not even remotely the same as the iphone?(because it resembles features that look ALIKE) Thats why the samsung galaxy tab has been banned in the US, even tho its not even remotely the same as the ipad?(because it resembles features that look ALIKE) Why was the creator of wowscape sued for 88 million and lost the suit? (Because she was providing an emulated service that was based on code/content officially owned by another company) I honestly dont know who or what makes you think that copying other peoples work is legal, it really isnt, and the recent lawsuits the past 4 years is clear evidence of this. Not only that, you are by law not "allowed" to re-release software thats using code created by someone else, without their consent. And if i am not mistaken, apart from the hive(which is the only thing that is emulated) i bet you are using the actual Day Z mod files, right? Yeah, thats legally not allowed without consent.
-
Actually, if you had read my posts you would quickly realise that my problem is not hosting them, using them, or playing on them. It is disrespecting the creator by continuesly posting these threads on his forum, despite the official stand on the subject. I already said, i dont mind if private hive owners go share/speak/advertise about it on their own created forum.
-
Actually, i do know what i am talking about. Can i create an iphone that looks exactly like it? But hardware is painted green, screen is yellow, and its got my name on it? No i cannot. Can i host an emulated server that either provides exactly what the "original" server does, or provides a "modified" experience? No i cannot. Why? Because, you make a mod/game owned by someone else, available to the public without his/her consent. This could be argued 2 weeks ago before recent changes, however, not anymore, why? Because by creating a private hive providing a very much clone experience of the offical mod(or slightly modified but using same concept) is breaking one, more or several IP infringements, trademark or copyright infringements which Bohemia Interactive now owns. Its not really something that can be argued. It does not take a terms of service agreement to determine ownership of code, all it takes is for someone to write it, and its copyrighted. Since the announcement of Day Z standalone, Bohemia Interactive has been filing copyright for acronyms, title, and more. Have you played other zombie mods in ArmA? I have, they move different, they look different, they sound different, they behave different. Then we have randomized loot spots, eat/drink/heat system etc etc. None of the code was "stolen", Rocket even said he developed it all from ground up with _Inspiration_ from other mods.
-
Your right, its not legally wrong to create private hives. Thats not even the arguement i am pulling. Its the fact that "private hive owners" complain that they are not allowed to discuss private hives/link/advertise to them on the offical forum, its the fact that they are not happy that they recieve no support. This forum is Rockets, and his team. No, theres no term of service when using the mod code, but he can limit posts about it on his forum as he likes, which is what the day z team has been doing. So take your "communities" and "work" to your own forums, and there wont be any problem at all. But dont expect full blown support here, its obviously not supported.
-
Nop, if you paid attention, you would have known that Day Z, the term, aswell as the mod code is at this moment, copyrighted work of Bohemia Interactive.
-
You're right, emulating is not directly stealing code. It is exploiting code and/or using direct functions intended for something else, without the consent of the original creator. I am not making you out to be anything, i actually like the idea of private hives and i think it could work with the right set of tools. What i dont like, is that people on here push it out on the official forums even though it is clearly NOT something that the Day Z team wants right now(but might in the future, Rocket has talked a bit about this). When the time comes where Rocket allows for private hives, i bet he will publicly say so and let the forum have their own section, or however he finds it appropiate, until then, respect its his work, and that he does not wish it here at this moment.
-
You are indirectly asking for support, whats the difference lol? Theres none.
-
Only reason private hives are more "stable" right now, is because its the underdog. Just wait until they become popular, it wont be any different. He is using modified code, its no different then pirating a game. And here he is, encouraging people to support other people that stole code. Dont matter whether he wanted to pay for standalone or not, he is still using Rockets work.
-
No - Go create your own game from scratch, then advertise your servers - Dont steal others work. Thread reported.
