  1. Its not an excuse, its the official term of a part of a development cycle that every game has gone through for 2 decades. Unfortunatly, as soon as you publicly release an alpha in order to get broader feedback, you get users like you, who probably have a 9-5 job that has nothing to do with computer engineering, and as such has no idea what you actually talk about, come here and talk dirt to people who do. Respect the process of game development, if its too complicated for you to understand, then leave. But do not come here and talk shit and invalidate statements that you have no clue of whatsoever.
  2. The vehicles spawn at intervals until all vehicles have been spawned, and are alive. In a perfect scenario, where all vehicles have spawned and havent been destroyed, you are looking at 20-30 vehicles in total. Obviously vehicles gets destroyed all the time, and they do have a rather long spawn time, so its not really an accurate assesment.
  3. Because its an alpha, its supposed to get worse. The mod is not supposed to be in a playable state during alpha, and no one here should expect it to be. The day which people realise that its supposed to be broken now, in order to be working in the future, is the day this mod will have a glorious community. Unfortunatly, this wont happen, as there are no limits to the stupidity of mankind.
  4. The "mouse" delay is due to mousesmoothing which arma uses. You can reduce it quite a bit in the settings, or completely removed it by adding "Mousesmoothing;1 to your ArmA 2 OA config. FPS can be due to a lot of reasons. One of them being ArmA is very IO and CPU intensive, its also not very good at utilization multi-cores. You can help this by reducing graphical settings aswell as doing some config tweaks, ive made a post on here with some tips, just look in my profile. FPS currently also depends on the server. Object cleanup is bugged at the moment, which means player bodies and zombie bodies sometimes dont disappear until the server restarts, this can result in really bad performance, theres really nothing to do about this until Rocket releases a fix.
  5. All you need to do, is create a 400mb ramdisk and move the DayZ files there, then edit the shortcut to load the DayZ mod from the ramdisk. Example would be NO ramdisk = beta;expansion\beta\expansion;@DayZ Ramdisk =beta\expansion;H:\@DayZ H being the letter of the ramdisk you created

    protip: update your script files

    This is only of use against people that use scripts with no bypass, which logs the scripts they run, but wont kick you from the server. By using this "feature" you will get kicked from the server if you run a script that has been "disallowed" by the server admin, you will NOT get a battleye ban. All scripts are logged on the server automatically, the point of this is to make sure a script that someone runs, wont have any effect before being kicked. But as i said, this only has effect against scripts that does not have a battleeye bypass Most scripts do have a bypass which means no script is logged on the server, and as such this battleye feature wont find the script in the logs and it wont have any effect.
  9. They have to, theres no way to authenticate with battleye without a legit key. And creating an algorithm to create legit cd keys would take months, and only give you few results every billion keys. If you cared to read in the right places, you would know. And you should grow up and learn to behave. You enter and play a mod with persistent gear, permanent deaths, and in an alpha stage. If these issues dont suit you, then go take the door out, you arent helping anyone here, and with that attitude, no ones gonna miss you.
  10. Then you shouldnt be playing video games. Hacking wont stop, it can only be reduced by an extend, but it wont ever stop. If you believe so, you should find yourself another hobby.
  11. You are just utterly and completely wrong. Over the past 2 months, every public hack has been detected by battleye within 1 week. Its a case of new ones popping up constantly, people are being banned left and right, and since ArmA happens to be really cheap, they repurchase the game. Battleye cannot do more then what they are, and they are already being much more effective then other anti cheat software.

    I completely understand your frustration, but this statement just makes me annoyed. DayZ in its current state is less then 5% of what it could be as a full featured game. This is a MOD not a GAME. It is less then 3 months old since the mod completely blew up, DayZ is and WAS supposed to be a sandbox game, Rocket said it a thousand of times. DayZ is supposed to be played the way individuals wants it to be played, if 80% wants to play it the way its currently being played, then thats how it is. If DayZ arent for you, then thats cool, just find another game. DayZ is what we make it, its a sandbox.

  14. Sounds like you were running DayZ through ArmA 2 and not ArmA 2 OA, never had that happen to me, but good post nonetheless.

    Help with Laptop Spec

    You wont be able to get a laptop that will hold the "next few years" laptops are falling behind on cpu speed these days. The laptop in question, will be able to run ArmA on medium/high as ArmA is CPU intensive, but you will have to lower settings in the future to keep up.
  16. You need to launch the game through the beta shortcut, not steam, or it will just launch the latest stable patch.
  17. Honestly, i stopped reading when the first big block of red letters said Zeds had no impact. Let me just say, THEY DO HAVE IMPACT. They might not have the desired impact, but thats not up to us to decide, thats up to Rocket. And as its still Alpha, they are being worked on all the time. As long as you, 1, shoot a zombie 2, sneak around a zombie 3, move slower because of a zombie 4, repositions in order to kill a player, because of a zombie 5, avoid killing a player because of zombies 6, avoid looting a house because of a zombie 7, move quicker out of a town because you had to take a shot at a zombie zombies effect your gameplay, and most of above are things that WILL happen to just about any player, unless they obviously sit in the elektro grocery store and shoot people, in which case its actually likely to happen aswell.
  18. Its tough to say how rare it should be, it all depends on when the infection broke out. Chernarus was in all out war between the russians, the civies and the americans. The story of DayZ is barely even developed, and going on what we see is all we can do, which is the infection broke out during or shortly after the american invasion - in which case, military grade weapons wouldnt be rare.

    I enjoyed the video. I didnt like the nametags, as that makes the job so much easier(yes i have sniped myself, and even done moving targets over 1000 meters away) but i looked away from the fact you had nametags, because you sounded like a decent guy in the video - then i came here, and you just act like an ass lol.
  20. Nothing is exactly overwritten. Whats on the server in terms of items and what is spawned, is not being run through the hive. Once you loot an item, it saves to the hive through a script. You cant edit whats saved on the hive in terms of data for your character, DayZ scripts are already "whitelisted" unless the server admin specifically blocks them, the reason scripts works in hacks in the first place, is because hacks use a bypass for battleeye, that does not log the fact that they initiated a script.

    It is highly unlikely as running a different map requires you to load one or more mods, which in turn must be either completely installed on the server, or the keys allowed - which is not allowed for DayZ, and is unlikely to every be, as allowing keys allows for a lot of client side mods to be enabled. Some, which can result in unfair advantages.
  22. The problem is exactly this, this cant be done. The reason it cant be done, is if it was, DayZ would be broken. Battleye already blocks a lot of scripts, and admins can block even more by manually adding them. The problem is, DayZ works through scripts. Whenever you join a server, you run scripts in order to spawn the loot the hive registered that you had in your inventory. You run a script when you save a vehicle, you run a script when you die and respawn, You run a script everytime you pick up loot.
  23. Its always gonna be like this, its a game of mouse and cat. It if aint gonna be scripts and spawning vehicles, its just gonna be esp and aimbot. Complaining about it wont make much of a difference, Battleye is already contracted and how they deal with this we wont know until months from now. Its too early to tell.
  24. Im not gonna go into detail, because that is of no use to anyone here anyway. Private scripts and hacks will in 98% of the cases remain undectected for the complete duration of its development cycle because they use much different hooks and injection methods to bypass battleye. Public hacks, gets detected quick with Battleye because they pay attention to the forums releasing them. A game will ALWAYS have private hacks, but the exposure of these are much less then if a public hack was able to remain alive for longer. On top of that, private hacks are much less user friendly, especially with battleeye as they are usually commandline. In most cases, the only way to find the the address space that is being injected, you would need to reverse said hack, unless it injects modules that is not supposed to be there in the first place(an example would be injecting a .net application in RIFT).
