The reason why it's uncommon is because it makes no sense to do it when the other person can just log out to avoid the threat of losing their stuff. To the bandit, it's a safer bet to just shoot them and take their stuff.

Would like to see Rocket address this issue directly. The cheating has gotten out of hand.

I'm basically working under the assumption that a good half of the people trying to troll and derail the threads in the cheat reporting section are most likely hackers themselves. Why else are they here? Their posts are hostile and do not contribute to discussion in any way. At the very least this forum needs better moderation but it's unlikely to happen. There is no feedback or even a statement by the developers in regards to the cheating epidemic that I've seen. You'd hope they are trying to stop the cheaters in game but the reality is that the situation has clearly gotten out of control... nothing is being done in-game and nothing is being done on the forums. This mod is painfully understaffed, and the response to the cheaters has been 100% inadequate. Unfortunately, I agree with the OP. I'm also at the point where I'm thinking about quitting this game just because at this point it's simply unplayable. It takes too long to even connect to a server, not even to mention getting geared up... only to get killed by hackers who are at this point straight up flaunting the total lack of a top-level response. Given all these factors and also given the fact that my time is valuable, I can't play this game any longer. It's sad that because this is such a great game and with so much potential. This is why we can't have nice things.

Yesterday I shot an unarmed person who wouldn't leave me alone near airfield. People will shoot the unarmed because 1) they can take items out of your backpack and 2) they could be scouting for a larger group. I give them a single warning to go away on the mic and if they stick around I blast them. I apologize if you are the person I killed yesterday. He announced he was friendly and I told him to get away from us. He didn't. Make sure you listen to people or they will shoot you.

Guess what Tricky? I'm reporting a cheater and it's kind of important to mention relevant facts in your cheat report about what happened including the facts that my inventory was removed, and that I was teleported at the same time as many other players. There is literally no whining in my thread at all. Maybe instead of accusing me of whining about gear, you should take a look at all the other newly posted threads in the Cheat Reporting section that talk about random mass teleportation? Clearly YOU are the one who has no idea how anything works. Thanks so much for your input, looks like your lack of caring bested you again. :emptycan: Better luck next time.

Nice non-productive response. 'Invulnerability' when I clearly said vulnerability? You seem pretty pleased with yourself. If I were a DayZ admin I'd log your IP and compare it to instances where these servers got hacked. :emptycan: Anyone want to address the issue of a game-ruining hack being actively used on multiple servers? This needs to be fixed. Hackers shouldn't be able to join any server they want and teleport everyone to their location, period. I don't care about my gear but I figured I'd ask for it back. Funny thing is I connected to a server and while I have my gear back, I'm on top of a building. Can I at least get teleported down?

I was playing with my friend on LA11 about 10 minutes ago. Everyone in the server was teleported to a rooftop in Stary near some players with a helicopter. In addition to being teleported, my inventory had been manipulated. All of our weapons (and soon after, hatchets) were taken away as well as all of our other items. Please fix this vulnerability and hopefully also please consider restoring player inventories on the server from before the exploit was launched. Thanks.

When we tried the registry edit option that I linked to, it still didn't work but it gave a different error message. Unable to save file: C:\...............\Appdata\Local\Downloaded Installations\..........\Updater.msi (note: this is not the exact file path) Access is denied. We have also tried running it as an administrator and access was still denied. Help!

My friend is having trouble installing the Six Launcher. Please don't get me wrong, this game is awesome.

Recently it has taken forever to get into any game to the point where it is hardly worth playing. It wasn't like this before.

Why is it taking so long recently? Please speed it up, its ridiculous. I want to play this glitchy but awesome game.

BUMP please fix this... I'm losing lots of half filled clips because of this stupid and annoying glitch.

In my opinion, if you change the game so players can't log out instantaneously and must wait 20 seconds after clicking disconnect to log, while telling nearby players or showing an animation that the player is logging out, bandits are going to be more likely to rob people for their goods instead of murdering them. A lot of people are complaining about too much PVP. I think that once the logging out instantly problem is fixed, the PVP problem will fix itself. Think about it... if I know that someone has good gear and doesn't see me, why would I tell them to FREEZE! in voice chat and risk them logging out in an instant as soon as they hear me? As the game is currently made, it simply just makes more sense to cap them in the back of the head because that's the only way you're going to be 100% sure that you can get their stuff. Now obviously there will always be players who just want to kill other players. I am also aware that telling the game creators to fix the instant log out is beating an already long-dead horse. This post is simply to suggest that the devs fix the insta-logout issue before they try to change or ruin a PVP system that is balanced and makes sense. Just my 2 cents.

In my opinion the solution for this is to try to get yourself recruited into a Day-Z clan. Search for some forums or something and send in an application if you want your 'Walking Dead' experience. "Being nice" to random people you have just met is NOT going to work in this game, especially if you break line-of-sight with them like you describe in your story. FYI if I saw you running through the middle of a town with a military grade weapon and Alice pack on your back, I would kill you too. Don't be surprised if you join a clan and are instructed to KOS in response to unknown players as part of their rules of engagement.
