    DayZ Weapon: AS50 TWS

    TWS scopes used to be legit apparently pre patch 1.5.x ish but those weapons (and ammo) was taken out of the loot tables that spawn weapons. So you if find it, you won't be able to use it without the required ammo as they don't spawn anymore. Just bury/destroy it ... its useless to a normal user. Found this info via "Search" ;)

    UK8, New Server

    I hope you got full dedi access in Multiplay to upload and patch things ..... they are by far the worse gaming server provider I've had experience with. With their virtual machine servers, the clanforge tools are atrocious for customisation and it took ages to have any fixes/plugins updated by the Multiplay staff (it was whenever they get around to it which could be months). We had to move our CS: S server from them to Killer Creation just so we can have the CS: S running with the up-to-date mani plugins whenever CS: S is updated (as Valve updates broke mani everytime). Good luck with the new hosts, I have been hoping UK8 come back up asap.

    Combat Quitting Bandits?

    I believe it is server side code that has to be changed, hence the 5 seconds. Currently as it stands when you disconnect, your client tells the server. With this new code, the server has to keep track of every player and determine when a disconnect occurs, then keep that player "alive" for 5 extra seconds. This adds overhead to the server itself. Depending on how this is implemented, I can see this possibly not working properly when people have internet issues and get kicked/disconnected for no reason. That's a possible side effect of the change. Anyways, its a start and better than nothing. Eventually I would like this to be at least 30 seconds tbh.

    Heli crash sites?

    No specific site, just spawns in random locations within a set radius from some towns. I like how it is, if it was a specific spawn spot it'll be camp to bits, random makes it more fairer on everyone.

  8. Each Steam account has a unique CD-KEY tied to it for each single game even though resources (eg. base files) are shared. If you purchase ARMA 2 on account #1, it will have CD-KEY #1. If you buy ARMA 2 on account #2 it will have CD-KEY #2. Steam has a cloud service so wherever you go and whatever computer you play on, they will be the games and data you can only access. You cannot access someone's else's Steam account while on the same computer you have logged into your account with.

    Makes no difference to me, I got shot by far many more survivors than bandits tbh. I avoid contact with people I don't know.

    How to tell if nametags are enabled?

    Don't know if this is the way but I generally find nametags are on if you point at an object or building it it says its a "House" or "building" or something like that. At that point I just leave the server.

    How Is The Community Enjoying The Game?

    I like 1.5.8 as it teaches you to be very very careful. You can solo (I've done it many times) and get the good gear. I've been killed by players for 100% of my deaths, dying to zombies means you haven't been very observant of how they behave. I like playing the game but it can be sometimes boring and frustrating ..... but that's when its time to step away and do something different (like step out of the house or play a different game). What I find that is the potential to ruin the experience of DayZ, these forums TBH. There are tweaks that need to be made and some good suggestions but as a community I find it 50/50 ... 50% good people contributing while the other 50% are selfish children. It is becoming like the old Counter-Strike forums with the amount of asshats coming onto the forums complaining about this and that because they don't like what the devs have done. My opinion is that I trust in the devs to take in the direction they want it, if I don't agree with the end product I will stop playing it. I won't sit on the forums and whine all the time like a broken a record that my play style isn't catered for or that things need "drastic change" because of something I don't like. As a community, we need to grow up and actually try to contribute with constructive criticism rather the selfish banter I've read the past few weeks. In the end you don't pay the devs, you don't own the devs, the devs don't owe you anything .... its an alpha and as such the end product may be completely different from it is now.

    Crashed Chopper Loot

    I believe that it isn't that there is no loot, the issue is that the loot despawns when there are no people around it. You have to be lucky to find a recently crashed chopper, most I've found have been a few hours old at least so there is nothing around it.

    Embarrasing Death After a Week of Surviving

    Well this didn't happen to me but to a mate of mine last week. We were running from NW airfield to the NE airfield and he wanted to adjust his video settings. Instead of hitting "Options", he hit "Respawn" instead. Luckily me and a 3rd person were around to collect the important gear but he had loads of DMR ammo. So we meet up near Berezhino and my mate found a DMR. So we take it upon ourselves to get back to his backpack ... Got nearly 1K there and the server got restarted lol

    This mod is better NOW then ever before

    One observation that I've made is that zombies don't respawn if you don't kill any. I think there's a static amount for a certain area so you can sneak in, grab what you want and leg it out without killing a single zombie, you're grand.

    About Zombie Numbers

    CalUKGR, looks you started playing during the 1.5.6 patch (not dissing you here mate ;)) which was really a step back for the mod. The devs have pulled it back near the original counts but of course tweaks need to be made. Here's a few tips for 1.5.7: - Use empty cans, smokes, etc to distract zombies away from areas. Throw those items and watch the zombies shuffle towards them. - Use prone or crouch walk near buildings towns. - The pistol should be considered your primary weapon now, you'll attract less zombies when firing it. Rifles, etc have a larger agro radius. - If there is a zombie a few feet away from you and you haven't been spotted, stay prone and don't move! Solo play is possible, just have to be much more careful.

    About Zombie Numbers

    The mod started out with alot more zombies from what I hear. People got too used to 1.5.6 patch which broke zombie spawns, pre 1.5.6 there were lots of zombies. Its still alpha and may need some tweaking but I find the current zombie spawns far more approaching the original vision of the mod. During 1.5.6 zombies became a minor nuisance where you could take down 1 or 2 zombies at a time. Now you have to be tactful and use strategy. Let go of 1.5.6 patch, adapt or die. The zombie count will probably never be that low nor that easy ever again.

    Wow I remember the old CS days pre-source ..... it was like it or lump it with each new patch and people had to adapt ..... that's the view everyone should take considering its an alpha not "release". I did not enjoy 1.5.6 as much as 1.5.5 because it broke zombie count to almost nothing making ZERO tension in the game and turning it into almost pure PvP. As most people have said, deal with it.
