No worries BazBake, as we all know a lot of people on these forums have a habit of trolling people. Sometimes, you just can't tell if people are doing it or on purpose or not xD Hard to take something in a certain context based on just text.

It's not working as intended if you win your fights and get punished for it after. As I said, I log out after the shock indicator is GONE (do I need to make it any clearer BazBake?) and still fall unconscious when I log back in. Edit: either something is wrong with the servers, or this mechanic is truly fucked up. In the span of about 1 hour, I've been running north towards Stary. I logged out, logged back in FIFTEEN minutes later and fell unconscious. I ran to Mogilevka, cleared it, moved a bit further north and logged out to take a shower. I'm just logging back in now and my character is unconscious AGAIN. Consider my jimmies rustled, this is really annoying.

I know what it's for..

Hello folks. How many other people here have had random trouble with the shock mechanic? For those who aren't sure what I mean, you get shocked when you get shot at, fall from heights or take enough damage. When you log out and log back in, you're unconscious for 5 minutes. I personally feel this mechanic is broken. There have been too many times to count where I've won a gun fight, left the area, logged out 5-10 minutes AFTER the shock symbol has disappeared and I STILL log back in to find my character unconscious. To be frank, it just doesn't work. It's purpose is understood, but the lag/latency for this condition to wear off breaks it.

Buyable shit And military bases
-SA-Vanguard replied to BaNg_Ulol123's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I personally agree with the idea of a currency system. Fallout had it, why not Day Z? It can't be just lootable currency though, as in "hi, I'm a bandit, I'm gonna kill you and take all your cash" as that'd make it too easy and too pointless. I'm not sure how people would go about doing it, but using it to buy guns, ammo, supplies etc would be grand. It'd give players an incentive to play and if they can't find the loot they want, they can buy it. -
So, you've just killed a hacker...
-SA-Vanguard replied to -SA-Vanguard's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Exactly. He had normal gear, so he either spawned in regular items or killed someone else who spawned them in. No true way to tell, but still the question remains: What else is there to do? I might just stick around and shoot these snipers who snipe players in Elektro. Too many people are shooting unarmed players, it serves no purpose at all :| Even I don't do that and I usually shoot anyone with a gun or anyone with something shiny that I want. -
... and taken all of his loot. Anti-materiel rifle, L85 AWS, all the tools, coyote backpack, ammunition, sidearm, medical supplies, NVG's/rangefinders and food/drink. And you killed him in Elektro, on the hill where all the hacking snipers are. Now what do you do? You've got everything you need (excluding the ghillie suit which you can't pry from his corpse). This is the question I've been asking myself for hours now, since I killed a hacker on the hill and took all of the above. There're no items he had that aren't ingame (e.g.: no night vision AS50 or anything like that). Why even bother going to NWAF or Stary or anything like that if I can just kill one guy and get everything at anytime? Even if I were to go north, some prick would just use the serverwide kill command anyway. So, what is it that you guys do? Stay and shoot people?

About the thunderdome...
-SA-Vanguard replied to -SA-Vanguard's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not always :] A couple of my friends fought their way out and they left with a helicopter and some nice loot. Sadly for them though they didn't do the Arma 2 bootcamp flight training and crashed it straight away. -

So if I do ever get ported to the Thunderdome (bound to happen sometime or another), and I win and kill everyone, is it alright that I take all the loot I want and the chopper? Is there anything there that'd get me banned? -

So essentially, there's nothing we can do except let ourselves get banned? -

Ah, quite a good guess then! If that's the case, then I guess we can actually get banned by hackers? -

"We're aware of the global banning issue and are investigating since yesterday. Appropriate action will be taken if a false-positive scenario is found. If that is indeed the case we're terribly sorry for it and will take measures to prevent this from happening in the future. An update will be posted once more is known. " Ah yes, thanks! But still, does anyone know what could cause these false positives? -
Hello folks. I've been watching videos of the new-ish 'Thunderdome' hack. For those who aren't aware, the Thunderdome is an arena spawned into the map by a hacker. All players on the server are teleported inside and stripped of their gear. Inside the arena are crates containing every weapon, every item and tonnes of supplies from Day Z (not all of the Arma 2 guns though). Players are told to kill eachother and the surviving players get to leave in a helicopter, spawned in after 5 minutes. There've been a LOT of people who've recently been banned by BattlEye, and to be honest I think quite a few of these cases are actually innocent players. Doesn't take a genius to see that some players are genuine and have been banned for no reason, there's something more to this than people think. So my question is: does this Thunderdome hack, or any of the other known hacks, cause the player victims to actually be recognized by BattlEye as a bannable offender? Something is causing innocent players to be banned. Perhaps not a lot of them, but some of them. BattlEye are ignorant with their rules, the whole "you can't tell us your story" business, so it's pretty much "fuck you, we think you're hacking, buy a new CD key and give us more money". Would anyone be so kind as to share their experiences, or opinions on this matter please? Let's keep it constructive here, none of the "cry this cry that" business. It'd be nice to be civil about this matter for a moment :)

That round furthest on the left is the .50BMG round, which is what the Barrett M107 and Accuracy International AS50 use. These weapons have an effective range of up to 1500-1800 meters. If you get hit by it, you WILL die instantly. These weapons are by no means over powered, they reason they're designed is in the name: anti-materiel rifle. Materiel is basically the French word for military. AM rifles are meant to take out lightly armored vehicles and ALL infantry types. If you find yourself being shot at with either of these two guns, you're most likely not going to live through it. Now that the gun lesson is over, I'll share my opinion on the matter. People saying you need to adjust your tactics are right. For a sniper to be effective, he needs to remain concealed and have a clear view of his target. If you're in clear view of him and he's still concealed, he has a huge advantage. A good sniper will always hit their target on their first shot. After that first shot, their position is revealed and they usually pick up and move. If someone shoots at you with one of these guns and misses, you better get your ass either out of sight or behind cover. Good snipers always have a spotter with them who usually packs the range finders and automatic weapons to deal with close combat situations. Simply put, either stay out of sight (stick to trees and tree lines, minimize your exposure time) or stay in cover, return fire and keep moving closer to him. If you hear the first shot whiz past your head, take a guess at where the sniper is and return fire. You may actually kill him, or he might get spooked and bug out. The guns don't need balancing. If you're lucky enough to find one, you deserve to use it as you please. Edit: Oh yeah, those white smoke grenades are really useful as well. Get in cover, throw one either as a distraction or cover, then sprint through it :] Green and red aren't as good, they're mainly used for signalling things like extraction points/landing zones.
