I don't understand the vitriol in some of the negative responses to this completely reasonable request. The OP was respectful and made a valid point about mismanaged servers, an issue that has been around since May. Instead of responding with complaints about how ineffective "whiny guy's" request is, how about we all be a little more proactive and commit to contacting server owners that mislabel their servers? While it may be a bit difficult to do so, the few times I've contacted a server owner they always responded positively to my request, and the server ended up better for it. It's often the case that updating the server name is something that just slips through the cracks when frantically trying to make a server playable amongst the chaos of the first 24hrs of a release. And yes, I see the irony in my post(complaint about the complaints of OP's "complaint").

Providing a compass on spawn would be appreciated. Fair trade for the weapon, I think.

A couple of issues: - M4A1 CCO and AKM are definitely weaker. It takes a minimum of two shots to kill a zed now. This was not the case in 1.7. A M1911/Revolver is now your best option at close range, in every situation. - Zombies are respawning way too quickly. It feels very much like 1.5.8, except the new zombies are more difficult in nearly every way.
-
On the spawning in the ocean due to wearing ghillie/camo bug: I have camo and I spawned exactly where I last logged in. As always, YMMV. Also, from what little I just played, I like the changes. While zombies are more numerous and spot you more easily, if you're clever enough, you can lose them fairly easily. I've also noticed that when a zombie is killed, the time till drop seems to about 1/2 of previous patches.

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
S0N0S replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES If not, then give them less ammo or no ammo at all. Or, make it a 50/50 chance to spawn well equipped (food, bandages, painkillers, etc...) or well armed(pistol, plenty of ammo). Also, tangentially-related: make some weapon spawns separate from ammo spawns. Having no ammo is the only logical reason to leave behind a functioning weapon in an apocalypse. The alternative is a profoundly convenient coincidence. That, and I like the idea of a situation where someone is so desperate for supplies he must bluff a robbery and the guy getting robbed is trying to decide whether or not the guy holding him up actually has any. -
20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
S0N0S replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES, but make it relative to the player. Player x has humanity of 1500 Player y has humanity of 0 Player z has humanity of -1500 Player x experiences the same level of effect when looking at y as player y experiences when looking at z. When player x looks at z, the effect is more pronounced than when looking at y. Bandits do work together, so making it relative would obscure the effect to an entire bandit group. -
I didn't said it would be a detriment.

It's sad to see people be so quick to undermine a system that could play an interesting role in player encounters. If the female skin becomes so corrupted, then there would be no room for variation in interactions between and within sexes. Most importantly though, this new feature will end up as a missed opportunity and irrelevant variable in an otherwise brilliantly interesting experiment. So I will follow a policy of shoot on sight of any female/male pretenders, in addition to active reporting of any and all sexism I come across. Perhaps even reporting fakes, if such reports are accepted. I would very much like to see how a real male/female dynamic would work in a game like this, so I will fight for its legitimacy in whatever way I can.
-
Is the intention of the permanent female/male skin choice to convince players to choose according to their actual sex? EDIT: If so, would you accept reports of players choosing incorrectly and forcing a change on confirmation? I would be interested to see the dynamics of a "legitimate" sex added to the game, but unfortunately I already have friends planning on undermining it as soon as they play again.

Is it still the plan to remove bandit skins and the add loot-able player skins with a future patch? I've been looking forward to that.
-
Thanks. I'll check back tomorrow.

So, that's a no?
