    I found a Radio

I found a Radio earlier tonight about 3 hours ago at Green Mountain. It was the first time I've ever actually been over there and it was night time on the server so I didn't know what to expect. I saw a bunch of dead soldier corpses, scared me because I thought they were dead players until I got closer, I couldn't interact with any of the bodies on the ground except for one, which was a soldier, so I assume it was a zombie maybe, but I found a radio and 1 canned food which I really needed because when I logged on, my food icon was red.. anyways! I thought the radio was a beta item or something because I couldn't interact with it or do anything with it as far as I know, but like.. around 5 minutes later, I started hearing static, which I thought was coming from someone 'hot-mic'-ing but no ones mic was on that I could see, and after a few minutes I knew it wasn't proximity mic either, because the sound stayed at a steady volume, but it was just static for a really long time, so I alt-tabbed to check if I left a window open that was playing sound, but when I alt-tabbed, the sound stopped, so obviously it was in game. I really didn't know it was coming from the radio at this point, I thought my audio was bugged, but a while passed with this static on, and I started hearing music, and it scared he hell out of me. I thought someone was near me, but I was in the middle of the woods, and I am usually paranoid enough to always check if someone is around me, but ya, the music started, it was like a short piano tune, and then it cut to what sounded like whispering and humming, I couldn't make it out at all. At this point I alt-tabbed out again to see if I left my music player up just to make sure, but nothing else was up except for Arma and Steam, and like before, the audio cut off when I alt tabbed, meaning that it was central to the game, not outside of the game. When I went back to the game, I heard counting, or like.. not really counting, but kinda like what the default soldiers do in Arma when they die? they kinda have this very pre-set and generic audio where they spurt out random numbers, but this reminded me more of Vanilla Sky, where they have weird ambient noise in the background sometimes with what sounds like a person saying numbers. I didn't bother recording it initially because I really didn't care, I thought it was just ambient radio stuff that came along with having a radio, kinda adds to the ambience, you know? it kept going and I heard more voices occasionally, and weird beeps between each reading of numbers, and then either morse code or radio wave signals and then piano again, and then it stopped for a while, I just heard the white noise, which isn't that bad, but like... an hour after that, I heard it again, I *THINK* it was the same message. If it wasn't the same message, it was very similar. once again it scared the hell out of me when it started because I kinda forgot about it at this point lol, but it played again, I stopped doing what I was doing to actually listen this time, I wrote down some of the numbers, but I still can't make out anything else that is being said, it is really hard to hear. After that time of it playing, I kinda assumed it was going to play within the next hour again, so I started to record my audio while playing, I lowered all other audio channels so I could have a clear recording of it, and just as I expected, it started to play again, I'll link the recording with this post at the end, but can anyone help me figure out wtf it is? I am willing to trade my radio for a silenced m4 or something, because this is kinda getting annoying at this point, I searched the forums for anything similar but there isn't anything relevant that shows up, does anyone else have a radio that can understand wtf this is? Thanks for the help! here's the link to the recording: http://www.mediafire.com/?7d69d542amysnz8

    Map

lol @ "where im?" but ya, here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2536 is a great detailed map
  3. if i remember correctly, there is a decay timer on items dropped.
  4. no, because every time you log back and forth between servers, the rejoin abuse protection would take effect, where you'd lay incapacitated and vulnerable for 12 minutes each time you log on.. unless you'd be willing to wait that long.

    New symbol in the GUI?

It's actually a bong, the more your character smokes, the more red it gets. Just people mistake it for a thermometer.
  6. They are server-bound (both) and do not travel with you across servers, and no, neither disappear when you logout, they stay where you leave them, and anyone can access them, so hide your tents/cars.
  7. then yea, you need to buy it for your account or use his, but he has to have A2 vanilla and OA for it to work. But i'm sure you'd rather just play on your own account, so just buy A2.
  8. depends, is it on steam or elsewhere?

    MERGED: Power station/grid

yea... no thanks, i'd rather just hop servers than have to try and find a nuke shelter only for someone else to shoot me as i approach it. edit: btw, I do like the crafting Idea, because finding ammo is hard enough as it is especially considering it is random. but.. everything else.

You know, you should probably just make your own mod since you seem to have this all figured out. All of these 'would have to's' and 'would need to's' really put a downer on lone wolf players, solo players, and players that prefer to be alone or don't have many friends to play with as it is. This world being persistent is one of the biggest features of this mod, to end it by nuking the whole damned map is dumb, if it got to that point, i'd log out and go to another server that doesn't have the 'nuke sequence activated' and continue playing so i'd avoid getting my gear turned into ash, or log out and wait for it to be done, and log back in.

lol i'm sorry, but the majority of these ideas are really bad. especially #6 (an exit out of the game).. #3 just pisses me off with the idea of having a BMP active in-game #3(1) artillery would be derp, because you know it isn't always going to be used on bandits and zeds all lawfully.. i bet the majority of the time people will aim it at elektro, chernogorsk, and balota. did you realized your listing format is all messed up? like it goes: 1. 2. 3. 3. 4. 6. 5. 6.

    I found a Radio

I don't know how to add items into a game, and adding a radio into the game would be kind of pointless to me anyways especially if I didn't even know about this, I do see neutral item codes in the loot table though, so it is more than likely labeled as something else maybe? Since this thread was bumped, I did figure out why I wasn't hearing the broadcast anymore, and only the morse. It was because for the longest time I wasn't anywhere near Green Mountain, I guess the broadcasts are location specific. I was back in that area approaching from a different direction when it started up again, I checked the time and it was around 2:01PM, so.. it didn't fade in or anything, it just abruptly kicked, and not in the beginning of the transmission either, it was already going, I ran in circles and different areas to see if the signal would break, and it did, but the area the broadcast is effective in doesn't seem to be a circular radius, I tried to map it out via my gps, but it seemed too jagged. But I assume the morse code has no boundaries, and that broadcast was coming specifically from Green Mountain, I am going to go check other areas of interest on the map to see if there are any different broadcasts though. The morse code is neat and all, but it is kinda useless unless it has some other use to it. I've been trying to record all of my broadcasts on the hour but I kinda stopped because all I've been hearing is the same thing over and over again, the occasional static transmission, the hourly morse, and when I am in the Green Mountain area, I hear this broadcast. If anyone else found any other broadcasts, please post them here. http://www.mediafire.com/?k6fds1caug21ffi

    Im new, need tips!

The blood aspect is central to the Day-Z mod, or at least the way it works. Blood in Day-Z is pretty much your life, you start off with 12000, if you get hit by undead or if someone is shooting at you, there is a chance you will start to bleed, so always watch your blood levels. You can bandage to stop the bleeding, always bandage once you're safe, and do so before doing anything, because you trying to eat to regain blood while you're bleeding won't do much. Once you drop below a certain level, I think it is around 3000, you will start to randomly pass out due to having so little blood, so you will need to eat or get a blood transfusion from someone else with a blood-bag (found at hospitals).
  18. I like how you formatted your post like lyrics to a song or a really lengthy poem.

Um.. -if you alerted undead and you're in town, either 1. find the nearest enterable building and get into it, undead becomes uncoordinated and slow down to a shamble indoors, it will give you time to pick off targets one by one without being immediately overwhelmed, or 2. run run run outside of town and kite them, i.e. face them and jog backwards while unloading on them. -ALWAYS log off with food and water/soda with you, because when you log back on, chances are high you will be starving/thirsty. -stay in the trees, not on the road, you can always use the road to travel, but stay off of it, just follow parallel to it. -don't use the lee enfield unless you feel like dying. -the winchester is the best basic gun you could find, has abundant ammo and uses 2 types. -if you're ever low on blood, and you don't have a companion with you, then you need to hunt sheep/cow/boar/chicken/rabbit then gut and clean the carcass, extract the meat, and cook it, it will give you 800 blood per piece of meat. -if your aim is shaking when you ADS, then you either need pain killers to stop it or you have parkinsons and you need to consult with your doctor.
