@Agoodwatchman Indeed, that is how a lot of us came to be Regulators. It's great to have you on board bro!

    Law to Lawless Lands

@blockheads Yeah, it seems to me that this just makes it more enjoyable for everyone. It's not like we hate bandits and want them gone, we just want a force that can combat them on a moderately decent scale.

Yeah, that was probably one of our group trips up to NW airfield. Regulators have been getting together and doing that sort of stuff as of late.

    Lf a friendly group

Heya! Well, if you're looking for an obligation free group, based on killing bandits/aiding survivors, feel free to check out the Regulators: http://regulators.fr...lators-t13.html We're growing by 3-10 people every single day (already gotten 3 since the 12AM PST). We offer a casual experience, but we also have many players grouping up for real team-play experience that you'd get from normal clans. So in the Regulators, you can pretty much get everything. We're not particularly large atm, 45 players, but we're trying to grow.

"Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers" We certainly have manslayers in abundance XD. It's great to have you on board man, always looking for as many people as we can get.

The Regulators are looking for good people

Hey man, it's great to know you're interested in joining! It's always good to have more like-minded people join the cause. All you have to do is simply put the [Regulator] tag before your name, and if you want, you can visit our forums to meet up and chat with other Regulators. http://regulators.fr...s.org/index.php Edit: Jim, you made every point I made and you beat me to it XD.

The Regulators are looking for good people

Yes, that is really odd. If anything, I've noticed that most Regulators are overly careful about not killing an innocent. Did your friend do something that made himself look hostile? Regulators will give you multiple voice chat and typed warnings before opening fire on you. Anyways, don't let this one incident spoil your view of us please, we're on the whole as helpful as we can possibly be. We provide protection, medical assistance, food/water, we help in any way we can.

    Why we are losing friendlies..

Yes, and we're seeing people get wet because it's raining. It's not like its their fault for not liking death, it's an understandable reaction to a game.
  12. Thanks for your comment. 2) I'd argue against this. As it stands, you can always escape a zombie. If people know that zombies are always escape-able, then they won't worry about being heard, cus they'll know they can get out of that mess. It's either this, or eliminate walking in house/dock safety/up hill thing, which would be far more difficult if not impossible. This would not only make people think about shooting, it'd make zombies a real threat and it would scare you. Zombies make me a little nervous, but they don't scare me. If they were such a big deal, they'd be really scary IMO. 3) You've actually convinced me somewhat. I stick by my statement that there shouldn't be as many zombies in town. If they were boosted stat-wise *and* they were increased in number, this would kill solo play. I want to maintain solo-ability as it is, and team-ability, but I want to make it so stupid-ability is far decreased. 4) That's the point, it's to make the bandits feel as though they're safe while robbing someone. The reason for implementing this, is to add an alternative to murder for loot. This won't be used if it's fairly easy to escape. Not to mention, having this animation is authentic :P. I was made aware in a previous thread, that apparently we already do, but it's disabled.
  13. To kill players that are killing new players or fresh spawns.
  14. Not only do I find that it's entirely possible that your proposed system is not possible, it would be very hard to implement because how can you distinguish between friend/foe contact? Does sitting 5 feet away and typing to someone trying to murder you count as human interaction (even though he doesn't respond)? Does that make your character *less* crazy? More than that, not only will the enforced grouping thing scare people (myself included) away from this game, it will create less variety and option in a game that is all about freedom. This is an artificial thing, it does not fit. Even if it is somewhat based on a realistic concept. I'm all for customization, but you shouldn't go around trying to eliminate play styles you may not appreciate but that others do. I don't even play lone wolf, I only play with the group that I'm a part of, and I'd still quit if this were ever implemented (or anything similar). Instead of punishing one form of play, we should punish stupid gameplay. Being alone isn't necessarily a bad choice... but running around shooting in town is necessarily a bad choice from an authentic standpoint. What if a bandit hears you? What if a zombie hears you? These are all questions you'd ask yourself in real life, but virtually no one can get to the sound of gun shots unless really close, and zombies are hardly a threat. Here's how I'd go about fixing that: 1. Boost the noise (both the stat that zombies hear, and the actual noise) that guns make by a significant amount (especially sniper rifles). 2. Boost zombie speed (quite a bit) and/or boost their damage per hit (1,000 - 2,000 blood) and make bleeding a certainty (though it can be low, just make bandages necessary) 3. To compensate, making sure the game doesn't become ridiculously difficult, lower the amount of zombies that spawn by a small number of people bya good amount *except* for the military spawns (airfields, Stary tents) but not fire stations. However, make sure that a large group of people will still spawn a large amount of zombies -- to keep group play interesting. 4. Add a hands on your head or get on the ground option (I don't know if these is even possible). What it will do is put you in a stance where you are froze, can't move, can't do anything except access your inventory. To exit this mode, takes like 3-4 seconds, you will be unable to fight back for 3-4 seconds. 5. Make military ammunition spawns less common everywhere except for the airfields and starry (fire stations and deer stands included) making ammo more precious. And there you go, problems solved. You'll be punished if you simply kill people on sight near or in towns. You'll not have to fear human interaction as much because you'll know that them shooting you would probably get them killed (thus they'd be less likely to do it), not to mention they'd be conserving their ammo. Bandits would have additional options for getting their loot, so that it isn't always shoot on sight. End game will be harder/longer due to less military ammo and military stuff only spawning in the super hot spots. Server strain will be decreased due to amount of zombies. Zombies will go back to being freaky freaky. The only people punished are those who killed senselessly, act without thinking, or aren't cautious enough. Is there anything wrong with these suggestions? Seems to me they'd only make things better. Soloing is just as easy, team play is just as easy, the only thing that's harder to do is being an idiot, cus you'll actually be punished for it.
  15. I don't, but that's because there's almost always someone there camping just to kill people (not even necessarily to loot them). I've died like 4/5 times I've went there, due to some sniper hidden in a place I wouldn't expect.

The thread certainly did. The Regulators however, are still growing very fast, everything is actually coming together quite nicely.

We deem your sand castles as "not cool man", so we're coming for your sand castles >:o. To reiterate, we don't have any problem with bandits from a gameplay perspective. We just have a problem with the over saturation of bandits. It's scaring away some players, and not letting others experience Day Z the way a lot of others did (when it was better, IMO). Quite honestly, just surviving is not fun, and it's not easy. I'd be fine just surviving, if I could just survive near Elektro, but that's not possible. I'll get shot by snipers, axed by recent spawns, gunned down by random bandits, or shot because it's the only safe option. Basically, in order for someone to just survive, they have to hit the towns that no one goes to. That's not fun for virtually anyone, I liked the fact that when I first played, survival was getting together with other players and fending off murderers. Now it's getting away from other players because they far too often murderers. But I don't want to whine about that, I want to make the game more fun for everyone. As such, I'm going to hunt you, I'm going to hunt people like you, I'm going to stop murderers from killing players, and I'm going to provide assistance wherever possible. I'm not doing this because I hate you or your playstyle, I'm doing this because it will make the game funner for everyone, even if it's all on a small scale.

Why can't we feast of human flesh?

Nobody is saying that cannibalism wouldn't happen in real life... of course it would. So would rape. People don't even have to go crazy to rape someone, it's a biological impulse. Do you think that magically no man would try to rape women? Let me tell you, if cannibalism would become common, then there's no reason to believe that rape wouldn't be as well. You view rape as wrong, because it is usually committed against other human being that are still living. You excuse eating people though, because it's a crime against the dead. Should we be able to rape dead bodies, then? This is a disgusting conversation, if this was a joke I kind of understand, but man. Anyone who wants do be able to eat people in a game, is frankly, pretty sick minded. Give me one good difference between rape and cannibalism from a moral standpoint. P.S. Not only is rape accepted in many cultures throughout history, it's part of our evolution (if you believe in such things). Cannibalism is allowed in certain cultures throughout history, true, but it comes with many negative side effects. Face it, rape is far more common than cannibalism ever has been or ever will be. The only grounds you have for arguing that cannibalism is permissible while rape is not, is that of morality. In an argument involving morality, Cannibalism is almost as bad as rape -- it's just not quite as taboo.

Why can't we feast of human flesh?

Oh but... rape would be a huge problem too. How about we add that in? Some lines shouldn't be crossed, eating another human being is one of them in my opinion.

I wasn't claiming that *you* enjoy hacking, but rather that other people find maximized fun in hacking. And thus, by the principle of "the right way to play games it have the most fun" you would be forced to admit that hacking is a perfectly acceptable action. If you see* my posts as hostile, don't. I love that this game has bandits, that's what makes this game great. Without them, this game would be nothing. I just think that banditry is a little too common, and senseless cruelty is just a little be mean.

    Law to Lawless Lands

Playing the Regulator style (before I joined) I survived for like 18-20 days at max. It was nearly as dangerous as your style, though I certainly didn't walk the streets (I'd sit on buildings). Earlier, you posed the question, " take joy in my playstyle, which means im playing the game correctly.". I would answer that, first, games aren't necessarily there to maximize your fun. If that were the case, then hacking would be the "right" way to play -- no matter the moral concerns. Team killing would be the "right" way to play, because some people find it more fun. As you can see, you can't merely take fun into account when judging what is the right or wrong way to play. But that is not the point, I'm not going to say you're playing the wrong way (but rather, that you're wrong for playing that way, subtle but critical difference). Since you spare noobs, I'm at least a little more open to your position. However, you claim that bandits don't kill noobs, which is flat out incorrect. I've seen it dozens of times in game, I've watched dozens of videos about it, I've been killed while completely unarmed multiple times (I literally spawned yesterday, ran for a minute at Kamenka, got shot in the leg by a sniper, then ate by zombies), it goes on all the time. While we may hunt you down for your play style, we can at least understand that you're seeking a challenge. So are we, we will be your challenge. The difference is, we don't want a challenge at the sake of killing another innocent player. We're not willing to let innocents get caught in the crossfire, that's the only difference. Did you watch those videos? Here's another one: We actively camp on hot spots, but we don't do that which every other camper does -- oh no. We don't shoot survivors, we shoot the zombies chasing survivors. We shoot the bandits, the murderers, the trolls, chasing survivors and making their gaming experience a difficult one that is not fun for them. We love you guys, bandits, we think you're wrong from an ideological standpoint (maximizing fun is the best way to play), but we love you. We especially love killing you (not you specifically obviously, bandits in general), that's why we hunt you down. That's how we have our fun :P. By the way, your quote sounds like how cannibals view eating other human beings, just for the record XD.

    Law to Lawless Lands

Yeah, it's a common misunderstanding that the Regulators are anti-pvp because we want to oppose banditry. Quite the opposite, we're very pro-pvp, we love it, we just want to kill people worth killing and let the noobs have a chance at having a fun gaming experience.

    Law to Lawless Lands

The bandits that survive, tend to do so by not being near the coast (although not always). Regulator efforts are focused on protecting the coast. We recognize that shoot on sight is normal (to an extent) in places like Stary or NW Airfield. As such, while we'll kill you if you do those things, we won't necessarily hunt you for it. Instead, Regulators tend to be focused on by protecting fresh spawns down by the coast. One of our members records youtube videos, here is how Regulators operate: While we will hunt bandits, and we will destroy their groups/camps, that isn't necessarily our primary goal. We're trying to spread hope -- even if it's just one person at a time -- that maybe some day there will be a decent chance of you surviving any given encounter with another player. As it stands, you're most likely to get shot if you're seen by another player. While we may not be able to affect change on that grand of a scale, we can at least help some people, and make things a little better. Judge us by our merits... ask anyone who has met a Regulator if we treated them unfairly, or anything short of kind. We offer help at every turn, we offer protection to everyone (fresh spawn or loaded, whatever), we offer medical supplies, food, drink etc. Again, we're not necessarily trying to wipe out bandits, we love bandits, they make the game awesome. Instead, we're trying to generate more interesting content for all parties involved (fresh spawns get to play with a slightly better chance of not getting shot in the face, bandits have an organized and well armed enemy, and Regulators get to have some really cool stories to share ;D). Our goal isn't to change the world and destroy banditry, just to make it more fun for everyone.
