The Wishlist - Three things that need to happen
novogeek replied to Psyentific's topic in General Discussion
@OP: Awesome post ... the rest was covered by @pacific_coast. -
I stand under correction, but I think you have to find map pieces before your map actually works. The rest is typically explained by the ALPHA status of the game and the devs are working on the fixes ... I guess you either need to learn to stick with it and deal with the current issues or wait until the release gets more stable. There was a notification before you bought the game that this was an Early Access Alpha ... sorry.

@OP: Thank you for your insight ... I for one gave you beans because you took the time to make a meaningful post and explain things ... not just a random: "Oh Noes this Alpha Suxorz". I must apologise for some of the other posters sense of self entitlement and delusions of grandeur ... just continue playing the game and providing more of your outlook on the game ... some people are just Negative Nellies and always think their way is the only way. Good Luck with DayZ.

suggestion for login dead areas around attractive areas
novogeek replied to kOepi (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I think you should not be allowed to log off in a Red Zone ... this would prevent you randomly spawning and ruining the immersion. If the game crashes and you are in a Red Zone ... it should allow you to log back in at the last Green Zone area. Technically this is not difficult to do ... but I am not sure whether it is doable on the current game engine. My game engine experience is based off other engines. -
There is a difference between fast roping and abseiling (rappelling). It is most typically used when deploying from a helicopter without a heavy load and is intended to happen rapidly. This is typically used when going down a surface at a consistent speed or with a heavy load. It would be cool to have both ... if they include helicopters in the game ... but definitely abseiling for buildings. 8-}

As far as I know, they don't have a game play advantage but can do things like kick and ban. They can also restart the server in order to try and prevent the hive being updated and as such ensuring they keep their gear. They could also enable scripts that they have access to and configure them in such a way without it triggering the anti-cheat system ... but I suspect this is not the case or is not an easy thing to do. I am not aware of admins have a "invulnerability" mode or something like that ... but I stand under correction. If you suspect admin abuse, your best bet is to report the server or the admins ... but at the moment because of the status of the development, there is not much that will be done. Good luck.

Only difference in the army is we used a material style duct tape that was camouflaged ... loved that stuff. 8-}

Kudos to you ... playing the game your way and saving your buddy at the same time. Nice shooting ... :beans:

ArmaII and the Mod has more content than Standalone right now and as posted you get ArmaII as well ... which is a great game. Standalone is still a work in progress ... Alpha ... lacking content because of Alpha ... or whatever else you want to say ... so you may feel like you are wasting your money. If you can afford both ... buy both ... if you can only afford one, buy ArmaII and play the Mod ... you'll get more of a DayZ experience from that and can always buy the Standalone later. I bought the Standalone to help the developers but actually have very little time in the game ... I am still playing the Mod ... Vanilla version ... no Epoch or other stuff. :) The choice is yours ... but you probably won't get any sympathy if you buy Standalone and then post that there is not enough content or it isn't the full DayZ experience ... you have been warned. 8-}

Welcome ... you will be rewarded. DayZ is whatever you make of it. :beans:

Just hand-cuff them if you can ... if they then log I think they die. If I remember correctly.

I am open minded about your way of playing DayZ, please tell me about it
novogeek replied to Nesuma (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
In the mod, I played a Lone Wolf Survivor that would keep several small bases (a tent or two) stocked and would move between my main base to the these bases and keep them stocked. Every now and again, I would stash my high value loot and head in to a town with a backpack, my axe, and some supplies to help new players. Got shot a lot ... but I helped more people than the amount of times I got killed ... so it was worth it. Right now in standalone ... I just merely run from town to town with an axe and general stuff ... trying to meet people and help people if I can. If I get killed ... so be it. I will revert to my default style of playing when Standalone starts getting to the level of the mod ... but for now this is how I am playing. -
I haven't slept in 2 days after this event. HELP!

Muahahahahaah ... everyone in my office is looking at me funny. Dude ... your sense of humour rocks. No sleepless nights allowed, it was an accident, you feel bad, you apologised ... move on. BTW ... is your friends rash better? -
One sand texture on the first couple of ones and we would have this: http://www.urbanghostsmedia.com/2010/09/6-abandoned-towns-and-cities-of-africa/

- Legs breaking out of nowhere is normally indicative of a bug or a ladder/stair glitch. There is also a bug that breaks your legs if you remove a carry case from your hand or put in in ... can't remember the exact details. - Cooking is not implemented yet, so no the gas stove doesn't do anything yet. - That is entirely up to personal preference. Right now it is kinda pointless to completely gear up with long term survival in mind as there are a lot of server wipes and a lot of the functionality is not implemented yet. In my opinion, the more gear you carry the bigger target you become. I just play to survive and generally have fun ... typically just run around with what I find and an Axe when I can. Obviously later on I will revert to Lone Wolf Survivor mode. - Probably just bad luck. I have heard people having mixed fortunes in this regard. HTH

Cool story ... but the switching between past and present tense confused the hell out of me. Always keep it the same tense ... or that is what my creative writing teacher always told me. :) Liked the story a lot.

Cheers OP ... Good Luck. Sorry, don't want to derail the thread ... but have you ever tried to develop a game or be involved in game development? Not trying to defend Rocket and his team or start a flame war, but if the models and textures already exist (from say the Arma3 engine or any other source) they are relatively straightforward to put in the game. Yes it can be frustrating that some game mechanics are not being fixed ... but the chances are pretty high that there is a content team and a development team ... and as is pretty normal, content is easier and faster to create and implement then debugging issues or adding new game mechanics. This is a given in the game development arena ... yes I am talking from experience as I am a managing member of a Independent Game Development Studio. Anyway ... as Orlok said, sad to see the OP go.

They are definitely not in use here in South Africa ... both in the military (yes I was in the military) or civilian (yes I belonged to a combat shooting range). I don't know what the full back story to the game is (yes I have been playing since the mod days) but if I had to compare it to a Ukraine or Belarus then most of the weapons you find would be old Soviet-bloc style weapons and not some of the modern ones. However with the abundance of Hummers (HMVVV), I am assuming that NATO (or even the Americans) came to aid the Chernarusians when the outbreak happened and hence there will be some Weastern-bloc weapons available. I have no problem with this being added, but I still feel that they should be rare and difficult to come by ... with the Soviet-bloc weapons being more common. But that is just me.

Ummmm ... okay ... sexy Fire Extinguisher there. 8-}
