    Live Server Tracking

Why does your URL point to your Facebook page and then link out to another site ... this seems ODD!!!

Server Restart Warning / Add Sever To Fav.

But it is ALPHA ... sorry guys ... couldn't resist. :) One would hope that this would be implemented in the future.

The most common 'cheat' used in DayZ...

Not sure how you would prevent this. You could be sneaky and test for the Skype or TeamSpeak process and prevent the game from starting ... but is this legal, would it be considered invasion of privacy. This is a tough to even enforce ... and if it could be enforced ... would you want to. Not sure.

    Too Many Servers

If anyone was to implement this, and I am not saying they should or that I support this idea in anyway, the best solution would be to auto-deploy servers. Now obviously people pay to have a server and this might cut the profit being earned from server rentals, the idea would be to bring a server up when another server in the same region gets up to a certain percentage of players (say 80% or 90%). Where server empties, take the server down. You will get the odd occasion where a player will stay connected for a long time, but if you implement a idle timer and disconnect the player ... this might achieve the results you are looking for. Whether this is a good idea or not ... for various reasons ... is not what I am responding to ... just offering a plausible way of achieving this.

Another good night in the woods

Awesome story ... loved the way you did it. :) Good Game!!!
  7. January 23rd - 2014 - State of Oregon G40 Hosting has decided to close its DayZ Priv division on January 22nd 2014 after operating as a division for just over a year. Barry Engle and Quinton Delpeche took the decision after Tim Grabner notified the primary members of his intention to resign from G40 Hosting. After consultation amongst the primary members, it was decided that G40 Hosting would not be able to continue to operate effectively and therefore the primary members initiated the process of dissolution of G40 Hosting. All recurring payments have been cancelled and customers will be formally notified of the dissolution of DayZ Priv. No new services will be sold. We apologize for any inconvenience during this time and are doing our best to ensure that this transition goes smoothly. If any person needs any kind of information related to our business, please contact us at – [email protected]
  8. Want to just see if there are any South Africans here that want to play on a DayZ Epoch Server. I have development a control panel system called Game Changer and I am looking to set up a South African server to test and have some fun. I am planning on keeping the server running full time regardless of the testing of Game Changer. If there is enough interest, I will start configuring the server and get it up and running. It will be solely funded by me and will not require any donations or any of that stuff. The server will also be kept standard. Let me know. Edit: Whoops sorry Admin, wrong location, thanks for moving it.

Love the game, Hate the players...

This is the way I play ... Axe is all I need ... funny enough is that people tend to leave me alone. :)

    My friend, the psycho

Yeah, I hooked up with some players early on in my time and by helping them, I managed to get my Hero skin. The team fragmented slightly and I was naive to believe that I would be able to help as many players as possible. After many attempts, followed by many deaths ... I now avoid all players entirely. A player can be lying in a ditch bleeding and I will give them a wide berth. Happy to say that I have never killed another player. :)
  11. I am not sure whether this is happening on Public Official Hives or not, but I have noticed this on a couple of Private Hives. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and also if they have experienced this on a Public Official Hive. I am basically trying to establish whether this is a problem with my Server PBO or with v1.7.7.1 in general. I am using my own Server PBO that is used on DayZ Control Center. So this is what I have noticed is going on. Scenario 1: The server is running, I place a tent and add items to and remove items from it ... everything updates fine. The Hive saves it to the "instance_deployable" table and everything is working perfectly. I remove the tent and it is updated correctly. Hive removes it from the "instance_deployable" table and all is good. So I place the tent and move on to Scenario 2. Scenario 2: I now restart the server, log back in and go to the tent. Now when I remove it, it packs itself in game and all is looking good, but the Hive is trying to update the object in the "instance_vehicle" table and not the "instance_deployable" table. So it never gets removed from the database. The same happens when I remove items from it and add items to it. On further investigation, the items seems to loose its UID and therefore the code to remove the object no longer triggers and instead tries to remove it from the "instance_vehicle" which don't use the UID. So if you were unlucky to place a tent and get an ID that is the same as a vehicle ... when you pack the tent, you end up deleting the vehicle as well and on next reboot the vehicle will be gone. So I move on to Scenario 3. Scenario 3: The tent was removed in game in Scenario 2 but not from the Database. So I log in to discover my Tent is there, please any items that I added to it before the last server reboot when I first placed it. If it was empty at that time, then the tent would be empty this time. After every server reboot the tent will revert to its initial state up until the point of the server reboot. Conclusion: It is almost as if, during mission startup, the tent is being read as a vehicle and not a deployable and as such is not being assigned its UID. I am now going to test stashes and see why that code works properly and not the tents. I have not been able to pinpoint whether this is a v1.7.7.1 issue or whether an issue with the Control Center Server PBO. The saga continues.

    Guilty Confession

Sorry ... since when did doing a normal logout when not in combat or not being chased by Zombies or not being confronted by someone become an exploit. If that is the case than I am using the exploit every time I log out of the game. Seriously ... this is the lamest statement I have seen in a long time by someone with your experience on these forums. :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan:

    Guilty Confession

I don't know if this can be considered cheating ... you logged out ... yes there was another player nearby but they hadn't seen you yet and combat hadn't ensued. Maybe you should have snuck off in the other direction before logging off ... but I wouldn't consider this cheating. Kudos to you for coming out with this and the way you made your post ... but I wouldn't be so harsh on yourself.
  14. Never too late to join the party. ;) I recommend you follow what DemonGroover suggested. Also watch some YouTube videos, it helped me in the beginning.
  15. Set up your own server, password protect it, install Sarge AI and invite some friends. As some of the other posters mentioned, you may loose something by not having other human players playing ... but this is a viable alternative. Check my signature for a Free Private Hive Server Package complete with Installer and Admin tool. :)
  16. These are the three I look out for ... no particular order but if I had to choose one it would be the Glock 17 ... cos I can never bloody find NVGs. :( Glock 17 because of the flashlight ... comes in handy when you don't have NVGs. M1911 if you can't get a Glock 17. M9SD if you are lucky enough to find one.

    The Night time NVG killer.

    Taser???
  18. Sadistically Enough ... I find myself intrigued. I would love to join you but being in South Africa means my ping rates are too high for most server. :(

    Fix the hosptials?

Heheheeh ... to be honest ... I actually find the Antibiotics in Industrial Loot Spawn areas. The large hangar type buildings (http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Warehouses) called Warehouses ... I tend to always come across them in there. The cool thing is that most of them are near the docks ... so it is easy to sneak in and out without attracting too much attention. :D And the stashes are my own made stashes ... that I use for emergencies ... they merely contain emergency supplies ... like 1 Food, 1 Drink, 1 Morphine, 1 Bloodbag, 1 Pain Killer, 1 Antibiotic. I am trying to stash them in as many locations as possible so that I have a back up plan if something goes seriously wrong ... it is finding the Sandbags that proves the challenge. :) And because they don't contain much of value ... well relatively speaking ... I am not too worried if they get raided ... but obviously I try not to put them in obvious places.

    Fix the hosptials?

I for one like the new patch ... and I have found tons of Antibiotics ... current count is 1 on me ... 2 in a tent ... and 1 each in 2 small stashes I have near areas that I frequent. I don't run through the town ... but instead I stick to the outskirts ... and do quick runs in to targeted buildings. I have been infected once when I got cornered and had to hack my way out of a building with 7 Zombies ... managed to make it out on very low blood and infected ... used my antibiotics on me and immedeately retreated to my tent. Did some hunting, replenished my Anti Biotics and blood and continued on as before. I honestly don't see all the whining ... my suggestion ... find a Private Hive server that you can install yourself ... modify the crap out of it or create yourself a special little spawn area with Medical Supply Boxes ... and play like that ... personally I think the Devs have done a fine job and as with anything, there may be bugs ... but I get to play the mod for FREE ... so I am not complaining. Oh and if any of you can do better ... why not take the code and make your own version if you think it is so easy. /me disables rant mode ... puts on his anti-flame underwear and awaits the inevitable.

Do you hide bodies you come across?

I normally only hide in two scenarios: It was my body and hasn't been hidden yet It was a bandit with more loot then you can shake a stick at (DMR, NVG, etc). Other than that, I leave as they be ... normally a nice warning for Fresh Spawns or New Players Entering the area and a quick loot spot for players desperately needing bandages or whatever is left on them. I need to stress that I have never killed a single player ... at all ... :)
  23. Because they will climb up the ladder behind you ... most of the time. On the ground floor ... once you get higher up it begins to get a bit more dangerous and you have to try to use the ladders to escape.
  24. Aaahhhh ... the dilemmas of a new player. Remember that Hospitals are not the only place to find bandages ... try Industrial buildings and Barns, there doors are normally open and you can run in and out without having to deal with breaking glass. Some industrial buildings are near Docks and the Zs can't run on to the Docks ... so you can use that to your advantage (if you are that way inclined). Or you can do what Lightkaka1234 recommends. :) Good luck. Edit: Dude ... use the edit post ... sheesh ... spamming your post count like that. :P
