    Dynamic item coloring

    As orlok and carcinovich pointed out ... it is not as easy as you say it is. Some engines make it easier to do and some models if set up correctly can support it ... but it isn't just that easy. I know ... I am the lead developer for an Independent Game Studio that has offices in the U.S. and S.A. Granted I haven't got much experience with ARMA2 and ARMA3 ... but most engines work using the same principles.

    Gun invincibility?!

    I found that just running around with an Axe and a simple sidearm was more beneficial to me then running with a M4 or something like that. Yes I was killed a couple of times and generally people don't really care ... but when I did come across players who were better armed them me and not being bandits or killing on sight, they tended to be more amicable to talking first. My only conclusion was that I kept my distance from them, never posed a threat, and didn't do anything suspicious. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that this is why I stayed alive or that this is the reason, chances are I just met the right type of people. But it did become my distinct impression that I tended to look like less of a threat the first time they came across me and this led them to not being so aggressive. So I don't know ... I continue to play with only an Axe and a sidearm (in the holster) when I can ... and I am still alive ... so we'll see.

    Yeah ... that is what I was getting at. The system probably needs some tweaking and probably needs to take in to account hit box location (if possible). But it won't ever be removed ... well I hope it won't.

    Hmmmm ... 1 post and this is what you post. So here is a scenario, Jack has a backpack full of stuff ... you shoot him in the back ... 5 rounds of a Magnum ... are you expecting all the stuff in his backpack to not be ruined? Don't want to take you on and start a flame war ... but learn to play the game instead of just shooting people and you won't die of hunger. Maybe it needs to be game balanced, maybe it doesn't ... but either way it is probably going to stay.

    I guess fundamentally the idea to bury things isn't a bad idea ... but if you look at the perma-death system ... how would your new character know where your old stuff was buried. I guess the same can be said for your tents and stuff and you can't always have super realism. I like the burying thing ... but there should always be a risk. There should be a visual indicator that something is buried here ... so people who are looking can try and find your stuff. There should also be a chance that if you just bury something without protecting it that it will get damaged or destroyed.

    What do you think about TRUST ind DayZ ?

    Don't trust anyone ... if you do want to help ... 2 on overwatch (1 spotter - 1 shooter) ... 2 per 1 on escort (2 of yours for every one of theirs). If you can't do these numbers ... don't help them physically or always make sure you are not in a non-coverable spot from your snipers. Generally when I play, I am on alone (because of my stupid frikkin time zone) and I tend to avoid everyone completely and will quickly back out of an area when there are too many people around.

Who knows what plans the Devs are.

    Sorry ... not bashing you ... but how did you come about that reasoning? Because a Zombie is not unrealistic? Not too mention the hundreds of other things in the game that are unrealistic ... your logic is flawed.

    Ummmm ... noooooooooooo ... ... lets get it right ... So what exactly is wrong with his suggestion when there are going to be vehicles of some sort and Heroic players might want to help newer players. How about you try to be more constructive next time and not just have a brain fart.

    Not speaking for the devs, but being a dev myself ... this is very difficult to achieve as each item requires textures to be applied to the model. Each alternate requires a texture, you can sneaky and allow dynamic colors on a texture controlled by the game but dynamic patterns would be a little difficult to achieve. I guess they could however have a choice of patterns to use or allow individual parts to be colored separately, but being able to draw your own pattern on something is going to be difficult to achieve because of the way game engines work.
