Addmagazinecargo - guy with over 4 logs in under a minute
novogeek replied to supercraft360's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You say there are tons of these? How frequently? If it is happening very often ... like I mean quicker then someone could actually find these items ... then kick and ban. Is there nothing in remoteexec.log for this player? I would check all your logs for the guid or player name. It looks very suspicious. -
Repeat offender - Can't get rid of him
novogeek replied to Noobsack's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Unfortunately it can also stop legitimate players as well ... I would be careful about doing a whois on an ip ... if it is a shared ip from a internet service provider you are going to ban all users on the shared ip range. This is sad ... as far as I am concerned ... this should not be an option. -
Firstly ... who is your server hoster? Most of the times the server hosting company has specific steps that need to be followed in order to enable white listing on your server. On my server, I have a "server.xml" file that is read by BattleEye when it starts up and I put the settings in there ... but the location of that file is (from what I can tell) specific to the hosting company and the server control software they use. My advice to you ... is log a help desk ticket with your service provider ... they will be able to help you much quicker then a tutorial can. I tried to enable white listing myself and got no way fast ... logged a help desk ticket and I was up and running 20 minutes later. HTH

Yeah ... I guess that is what it boils down to. Servers with good admins tend to have long term players and loyal players playing on them and a true community builds up around it. The servers with abuse will tend to get players joining for short periods ... and a server with no players is pretty lonely.

Dunno if I am proud of you or not ... I am conflicted ... I guess there is no honour amongst thieves ... ehem ... bandits. :P p.s. I am just messing with you dude ... each plays the game there own way ... don't take me seriously. ;)

What is this world coming too ... Bandits moaning about innocent Victims disconnecting because they are afraid ... I mean what next ... Zombies moaning because they are being persecuted. :P

A peaceful flight down the coast
novogeek replied to Derpy_Hooves (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Called NOE ... nap of the Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nap-of-the-earth) ... Nap-of-the-earth (abbreviated NOE) is a type of very low-altitude flight course used by military aircraft to avoid enemy detection and attack in a high-threat environment. As stated ... normally only used in a high threat environment or for below radar infiltration to enemy lines. :) -
It is possibly from the 1.7.5.1 release ... cos I don't think that was the case prior to that release. I was on the radio tower near Cherno the other day ... saw a Zombie chasing a fresh spawn and decided to dispatch the Zombie with my CZ550 ... I dispatched the Zombie but ended up with at least 15 Zombies swarming the tower ... so there are definitely some changes on the Zombie hearing ... I have tested Direct VON yet ... I might actually give it a bash ... just for kicks. :)

I don't think it was intended as a personal attack on you or negative in anyway ... as an Admin (specifically a Private Hive) you have access to so many tools that can be abused ... so you have to have a high sense of ethics and morality when deciding to be an Admin for a server. I think the comments made, were more of a statement of fact that you need to truly ask yourself why you want your own server and what type of players you want to attract your server. When you answer that question, then I think you can decide what type of Admin you want to be ... the choice ultimately is yours and yours alone. Good Luck. :)

It is very difficult to debug and assist with individual specs. Try running some type of registry checker on the system ... see what your PC performance (i.e. Network, CPU, Memory) is like while running the game using System Monitor. I am not sure any further advice can be offered other then what has already been offered. Sorry.

(multiple?) Hackers on DE 383
novogeek replied to R3ality (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It is a pity the server in question doesn't have a forum system you could use. Come join us on DE 4265 ... we have a forum system so you can direct access to the admins. :) -
This is actually very sad ... my only suggestion to you is try to find better servers to play on. I have very strict guidelines for my admins, I don't want to hijack this thread - but if anyone is interested, PM me and I will start a new thread with the guidelines I try to enforce on my servers for my admins. I really hope you find a server with decent admins. Good Luck.

This is pretty much all that needs to be said. It can be tempting to use the tools for your own advantage ... As soon as you do that you have two choices: 1. Stop playing on your server. 2. Stop being an admin on your server. If you can't do either ... Then you might as well turn your server into a full PvP server and give equipment out to everyone ... Because chances are that no serious players or hard core immersion players will stick around for long on your server. Good luck. p.s. I host both a Public Official and Private Hive server.

Recent problems with DayZ - Help please.
novogeek replied to poodude28 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
From what it sounds like, you have only be getting this problem since installing DayZ44. I am not suggesting that DayZ44 is the problem, but what I do recommend is to try and remove it first or disable it from your Expansion list in game ... Then see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't go away, then chances are pretty good that your installation of Arma2 and mods got damaged (happened to me recently with something completely unrelated) and you might have to uninstall and reinstall. Who to pick to start a server?
novogeek replied to Althoretjs's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For a Private Hive, I recommend DayZ Priv. For a Public Hive Official, I recommend Only Game Servers. But as stated by Hockeyguy, most of them offer the same type of features and the choice is ultimately yours. What I do suggest you do, is research the ones you are interested in, and then come search on these forums and see the latest posts about them. There are a couple of bad apples out there, this is not a slinging match at them ... Just trying to help you not get burned ... That is why I am not mentioning any names. Good luck. -
Keep getting error dayz_anim requires addon CAMisc_fix
novogeek replied to campie52's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I had a similar problem ... Do a search on Google there are a couple fixes. Mine was only fixed by me doing this: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/125484-dayz-commander-has-stopped-working/#entry1202653 But try the Google solutions first. HTH -
DayZ Commander has stopped working
novogeek replied to flygamer1's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I had a similar problem ... Not sure it is related, but I had to uninstall DayZ Commander, in the process I noticed that my Arma2 install was damaged. I had to remove it and then reinstall it through Steam. Finally I reinstalled DayZ Commander and everything worked. It may not be related to your problem, but it was how I managed to resolve my errors. HTH -
I can't quite explain DayZ to my friend.
novogeek replied to mjkproductions's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Actually it is kind of like the stages of denial ... maybe this can help ... this are the stages of Dayz: Fear - you first connect and every sound is sinister, every infected is scary. Confident - you find your first weapon, a Lee Enfield, and unleash death on infected ... but they all hear the "Dinner Bell". Panic - backed in a corner, fast running out of ammunition, you decide to make a run for it. Relief - you lived, just barely ... now it is time to try get more supplied. Cautious - now you know better ... or do you? -
He just needs to give you the Admin Password ... SimpleZZZZZZZ. ;)

So wait ... you tell me that posting something here instead of searching on Google is quicker. *Shakes head, wanders off muttering something about "some mother's children!"* -

Setting up for daytime on a private hive
novogeek replied to Rakkasan's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Find your "HiveExt.ini" file. [Time] ;Possible values: Local, Custom, Static Type =Custom ;If using Custom type, offset from UTC in hours (can be negative as well) Offset =-6 ;If using Static type, the hour to set the time to Hour =11 To have the server use your local timezone, set the Type=Local. (The Offset and Hour values will be ignored) To have the server use an offset, like GMT+2 ... set the Type=Custom and the Offset=-6. (The Hour value will be ignored) To have your server always in daylight, you have to make sure it reboots at least twice a day ... set the Type=Static and Hour=7 (i.e. 07:00 or 7:00 AM). (The Offset value will be ignored) HTH. :)
