One doesn't need stripper clips to operate the SKS's magazine. It has an internal magazine, stripper clips just make reloads faster. It doesn't provide for the overall capacity. I can still put 10 rounds into my SKS without a stripper clip. Whereas I cannot do so with a CR527 without a magazine. I said something about missing targets, because you said something about accuracy. You're now just saying that "more rounds = more chances to hit/miss" which is true, but irrelevant. You specified the number "4 or 5" and I responded by saying that you have enough rounds in the magazine of your CR527 to take them out. Which you do, because it has five rounds in the magazine. Sort of over this...

It isn't... but I do think that optics (specifically the PSO-1) need to be made rarer. But not so rare as to confine 1% of weapons encountered to be using optics. Either way, irons break too (see the slanted FSP on my AR that I have yet to fix)... so the argument that "it breaks, therefore, it would be broken" doesn't hold much water. It's not like the piles of optics at an abandoned armory, at a firearms/sporting store, or stored in someone's house just automatically break when news hits that there's a zombie apocalypse afoot. And yes, optics and so-called "tactical" equipment is no longer the sole purview of "Western" militaries.

Eh, should never be looking down the scope of anything magnified whilst running. Unmagnified optics, sure. One big thing that would help add a ton of just... straightforward-ness, would be a better audio system to tell where shots are coming from. Shouldn't be pinpoint accurate, but jeeze, every time I get shot at it sounds the same regardless of where it's coming from.

AKs need moar stocks! Some kinda' retractable LE-stock adapter Some kinda' whatever stock this is, which is out of shot... Some kinda' foldy AKS-74 stock Some kinda' crazy FAB Defense stock...

Should've asked me last night before I accidentally hit the G key and threw my in-hand AKM into a wall. What sadist put the F key as... number one... the action key... and number two... put the throw/grenade key right effing next to it? I even look at the G key wrong and it throws a frag grenade at my feet.

Well when someone insults me for no reason, sort of makes me smile. Anywho... 1. In the absence of something, I cannot assume the presence of something else. In other words, I can't read words that you didn't write. You listed the fact that the CR527 doesn't have a scope as if it were perpetual. Which was compounded by the following statement "something like a PU scope with Weaver rings would have been swell." This directly implies that it's not a work-in-progress and is a finished product. Which it is. If it were a WIP, which it is, then "would be" would be the operative phrase vice past-tense. 2. Hence why I was confused as to why you listed the fact that you couldn't carry two primary weapons without dropping one in a list which was specific to the CR527. 3. I have never claimed to be 100% accurate. But I'm not going to fault the magazine simply because I cannot hit something given the amount of rounds in a magazine. It's user-error. The SKS is a better choice, if only because it is equally as common, has a larger internal magazine (which still requires inventory access to reload), and can currently mount attachments. But if you make the SKS rarer, make CR527 magazines more common, and make some attachments available to the CR527... then the picture changes. These are all tenets of balance and development, both of which are ongoing.

I just don't see folks that often to even tell whether their behavior has changed... Nobody's ever in the north or western border of the map, even though that's where all the good stuff is. And, it's where I am 99% of the time. And everyone's shut in on 6/40 player servers. But that's just as much my fault as anyone's, I play alone. Got my first kill in a month or so at NWAF yesterday, fun times! -
Have you tried looking at your graphics settings? Mine reset to normal sometimes. And even as early as yesterday, I had to manually reset my resolution to 1920x1080 because it wouldn't give me the option to enter it in the settings window. Never accidentally press the "Default" button, wreaks all kinds of havoc.

Glad you got offended somehow. But okay, challenge accepted. 1. You are speaking matter-of-factly. You said "there is no scope available for it" as if it will never be the case, when they've stated that a scope is in the works. Which would, in theory, temper your dismissal of the weapon knowing that a scope is inbound. 2. I don't have trouble taking out five zombies in a row, so I'm not sure what kind of "duffer" I am. Someone who can shoot well in a video game? 3. You used it as a reason for dismissing the CR527, when it could be used as a reason for dismissing every weapon... because it occurs with every weapon you have in-hand. You listed the fact that you had to drop the weapon as one of your bulleted reasons as to why you weren't "impressed" with the CR527 in particular. EDIT - And my opinion is pretty important to me, though, hence why I hold it as an opinion and express it on this forum.

Yeah, was leaving Zelenogorsk and found one for the first time. Slung the AK-101 over my back and left the city popping zombies every 50 yards or so. Worked like a dream, apart from an art glitch which shows the single chambered round hovering a few inches below the rifle itself.

Errr. 1. They plan on adding a scope, they're not done. 2. Your second bit doesn't mention the CR527 at all, so I can't comment. 3. However your third bit contradicts what I assume you meant with the second. A five round magazine should be enough to take out "four or five of those buggers." 4. Your fourth bit is curious, this happens with every weapon that you "take into hands" and isn't peculiar to the CR527. You seem to be taking issue with the fact that you can't carry two primaries at the same time. You should not be able to carry four weapons as normal. I hope they get around to putting in a "weight/stamina" system ASAP. I can chamber it with single rounds just fine as of five minutes ago on stable.

Er, these aren't "tricks." He's just having an issue with it. Being able to have a weapon stored on your back, and have one "in-hand" is an intended feature. -
That's Gews' area of expertise. I don't know jack diddly about the statistics of the weapons.

Should Tents be tied to a particular server or not?

Honestly, I'd rather just have people get teleported to the coast if they server swap. All of the valuable locations are inland, and it would at the very least make server hopping far less rewarding/expedient. The coast is already a clusterfuck, and it should be. What do I care if a few geared players get thrown to the wolves for hopping? You still get the long-term capabilities and benefits... like being able to team up with friends from a different server, and being able to jump ship when/if your home server dies. Without all of the short-term detriments - like having people be able to swap next to a barracks building and having folks be able to get to their tents easily. That or just have the player's location save, but not his/her gear, upon swapping. -
I would, if only because it looks cool. And it only comes attached to the AK-101 itself. Never seen one spawn on its own.

1. I have recently discovered the awesomeness of the "weapon in hand" concept in DayZ whilst searching for a magazine for my AK-101 and having an AKM as a primary. But I can't help but notice that it's pretty cumbersome. Can't even take a drink without barfing your weapon onto the ground. What ever happened to this? It was in fairly early on and then disappeared (See the character idling with an M4A1 held vertically in his right hand). Might be a good thing to consider nowadays with players being able to lug around multiple weapons, but only really storing one or two. Obviously, there's a necessity to balance this with some kind of "weight" system, but I don't see any reason why I should be forced to drop my "in hand" weapon just to take a drink. 2. The boars, all the boars. I was really really pleased to see that the boars are very well animated, but also that they'd scurry away from me when I got close! Nice touch and glad it's finally been implemented. My skepticism about the new animal/hunting team was unfounded. 3. The new bandanas are excellent. Really completes the "look" of my avatar. Next up, shemagh?? I do have one critique, though. The bandanas, along with some of the newer clothing items (like the High Capacity Vest) look... off. I can't describe it, other than they just look flat. All of the other clothing items look like they belong together, no matter how mismatched they are. But the bandanas and High Capacity Vest look like they're rendered differently somehow and they stick out. 4. Is it me, or are the tree and grass LODs a bit wonky? I don't recall the tree LOD textures popping in so close. And some patches of grass look grey and out of place. It's almost as if it's a graphical bug or something. Might have to take a few screens. 5. The thin sliver frame around the PSO-1 scope window, when sighted in, is annoying. Definitely a known issue, and wholly acceptable for the alpha, but annoying nonetheless. 6. As others have said, and I have said before, the insta-respawning zombies are a chore. Especially when I'm now operating under the impression that doors will block zombies to some extent. I don't think this is an acceptable mechanic, zombies should be primarily persistent to the world already and should only respawn as is necessary. 7. Really itching to paint the AKM, AK-101, and their respective parts. Unsure of how big an undertaking this is from an art perspective, but I think all weapons should be able to be painted eventually. 8. Also really wanting to get a bit more use out of the railed handguards for the AKM/AK-101 and M4A1 respectively. Eager to see the foregrip, although I do love the vanilla AK-101 handguard. 9. Has anyone come across the green version of Gorka clothing? I just found some and couldn't find any images, or articles on DayZwiki in reference to a dedicated "green" Gorka variant (I even took the liberty of editing the page after having found it). Looks neat, for sure. I'd really like to see a Gorka pattern bandana and/or boonie. The TTskO stuff doesn't really go with anything. 10. I love the persistent items, but can't help but notice that I just don't have a use for the concept yet in its current iteration. I can already carry so much gear, that I don't really need to stash any of it away. If you had to choose between having all items be persistent, or, having all world objects be persistent (i.e. trees, folded grass, broken fences, smashed walls, etc.), which would you choose? 11. Perhaps this should've gone up with the bit about zombies, but suppressors not working is getting kind of old. Sure, it's an alpha and there are other more pressing priorities. But it still irks me to just be blasting away with a suppressor attached like it's not even there. Needs to do something. That and I'd like to see suppressors for the CR527, AKM, MP5K, and AK-101 respectively (maybe even the Mosin). 12. Glad the SMERSH backpack (and vest) are inbound with .48, but I do think we need a large backpack that's not painted bright purple. The Hunting Pack gets a little old after a while, same with the MICH helmet. Needs other like-items and flair (i.e. camouflage treatments, modularity, etc.) to keep things fresh. I like the "fishhook in boonie" bit of modularity for clothes. 13. Got my first kill in a long, long, long while at NWAF today. Respawning loot and persistent items is/are clearly not stopping server hopping at all. Under ten people on most servers should be a dead giveaway that - one, there are too many servers in the first place in relation to in-game population at any given time, and two, that people are more likely to migrate to less-risky servers to farm loot. 14. What ever happened to volumetric clouds? I feel like the storms/clouds in DayZ are just monotone with no depth. Half of the time I think I'm just looking at a flat grey skybox. That and the sun bleeds through everything like no tomorrow, will love it when that gets remedied. I also feel like Rocket has explained the status of this before, so forgive me for not remembering exactly. 15. Can I just say, the "sit while aiming" thing that's been around for a few patches. Fucking awesome. Love it, love it, love it. Now if we can just get some shooting sticks and/or supported shooting in the game.

I do sort of think that ARMA III's tiered stance system would be great for DayZ now.
