The way I see it, there is no need for an editor in DayZ SA. I'd much rather have a polished game, and then wait the couple of months for someone to make a zombie skin/animation for ARMA III when it is released (You can bet all of your chips it will happen, just like there are many zombie mods for ARMA II). Leave the editor for ARMA III, where it will be polished, and wait for the zombie mod skins. Besides do you really need to make a DayZ cinematic? ARMA offers a limitless toolset for creating virtually any kind of machinima, I started off on the editor and learning how to finally work sony vegas about 4 months ago now, and I've created some pieces i'm really proud of without ever touching DayZ. Heck, i've even made a few polished cinematic intros for people without using DayZ and instead using one of the other zombie mods available on Armaholic. Widen your scope people, especially those of you who want to make movies within the Real Virtuality engine.

I make cinematics in ARMA 2 :) Link @ signature.

Editor mode on arma 2. TheSWISSmaverick has some great tutorials on how to do the basics, and on some of the scripting required for advanced camera angles. Saying that, your video editing skills are drawn upon heavily aswell. Depends on what you want to do though, if you're looking for the stuff that's used in frankie's videos only, and the short intro's made by kleutscher then it doesn't take much to do. However if you're wanting to make something epic like BinaryOrchestra then it's a whole different ball game. I've been working on them for a couple of months now and that's me just getting past scratching the surface.

Tip: Stationary shots will make your cinematics seem unnatural and rough. Balance your shots. Some moving, some stationary. Zoom is also critical aswell, simply having an entire sequence of shots filmed at the same zoom level will ruin the cinematic feel of your videos. Vary zoom levels and experiment. To add an extra layer of complexity to your cinematics you should incorporate syncing your video to the music, not all the way through but in key parts for example when there is a climatic section in the piece of music you've chosen, chord changes, key changes, tempo changes etc etc. Here are some of my pieces that include what I just mentioned. You may not have access to the programs which I used, but I too started in Windows Movie Maker about 5 months ago, and this is where I am now. <--- first one I did in sony vegas.

MK48 is clunky, and unless you're lying down it's muzzle climb is unbearable. I just prefer the m14AIM in general, it seems to be a weapon I can use to it's full! :)

M14 hands down, packs a punch and it's brutally accurate. Old school firepower. EDIT: Plentiful ammo aswell. What more could you want in a zombie apocalypse?

You're most likely going to struggle as ARMA can be very CPU dependant. However, if you set everything on low, there's a chance!

It's dayZ. Shit like this will happen all the time. Get another server, or if you're happy with that one stay on it, and go and grind some more gear.

To be perfectly honest i am surprised it has taken them this long to do, should they get their hands on static weapons or armed vehicles then things will really get messy. And yes, when i saw the bus i had the same thought of the battlebus!

Thanks man! Yeah Panthera is a great change from chernarus! Only encountered a couple of hackers so far and generally they've been slightly better than the old "nuke ther servers ones"... Glad you enjoyed the video!
