Also those boats are really slow, they're still good if you want to get from the east coast to the south coast, except you'll need a couple of jerrycans for that. Now if you find a PBX...that's a lot faster and uses comparatively less fuel and it's easier to land at the shore line without it running aground. With the pleasure yachts, you need to be very carefull doing that, or you'll indeed spend the next 15 minutes trying to wriggle it loose.

Snipers & Spotters, wanna know the range?
Mercator replied to Sushidad's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Download this mission, set it up in the editor in whatever area you like...and practice/test with whatever weapon you feel like. Much better solution to learn to use your equipment I think.... -
PvP kills: what % would you do for real?
Mercator replied to Stukov's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Been playing Arma so long with likeminded people as realisticly as we can possibly make it, that playing it (and to me this mod is still 100% Arma...just that...a mod) in a realistic fashion is sort of ingrained and comes naturally. It feels "off" if I approach it any other way.... -
It'll probably run just fine, aslong as you don't go overboard with the settings. Don't worry about that, Arma still looks pretty good on lower settings. But I agree...$400 sounds a bit much for a used rig with those specs.

The DMR can't be zeroed...you will need to learn how to use the mildots if you're planning on engaging targets farther than 300-400 meters. There's a couple of threads here that show this nicely. @Tatakt, I believe the default is page up and down.

About that cow example you gave...did you shoot it? I go through the trouble of using the hatchet to silently kill animals. Friend of mine thinks that's just silly, but then again...he got shot a few times already, gutting an animal he shot himself... If I don't need to discharge...I don't!

Cherno is definately one of the hotspots, along with Elektro, NWA and Stary.

DayZ should become a stand alone game using a different engine.
Mercator replied to Harris (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And contrary to what you seem to believe...that's actually a good thing. Variety is the spice of life, fella, and if you think that quantity equals quality, you're bound to miss out on some fine things in life. Also, BIS has never marketed Arma as an fps game, the fact that you can shoot guns in it, does not make it a typical fps game! But granted...that's where a lot of people go wrong, so why should you be any different... Again, nobody is forcing people to buy or play Arma. But apparently people like their zombies, so whoopteedoo...here come the masses. But people need to come to terms with the fact that DayZ is an Arma mod, with Arma AI, on an Arma map, with Arma weapons and vehicles, thought up and made by an employee of the company that creates Arma...in fact...this whole thing is based on Arma... Could it be made on a different engine? Sure, probably. I might even try it out. But for now...all y'all will have to do with "the most hated fps out there". The irony... -
DayZ should become a stand alone game using a different engine.
Mercator replied to Harris (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You, sir, are full of crap! People have been playing BIS games for years before DayZ came along. Probably even before you grew your first pubes! And if you are indeed a tad older than that, you should be able to look up what "failing" means. In what universe does a series that has been played for 11 years and is on it's way to another title, constitute a "failing series"? You have no clue! I'm happy for BIS that this mod provided an unexpected payday for them, but the huge amount of ignorant and infantile people it came with...I could do without. The game was doing just fine without them. -
Found some of those stored in a dirtbike I found a couple of weeks ago. Don't think it was hacked in.

Crafting??? Endgame??? Arena??? I'm still on the forum of what is essentially still an Arma mod, right? Please tell me, i didn't accidentally renew my subscription for WoW?........

Hey, no harm meant, man. All in good spirits. If my take on the OP is that he's fooling with us, it's just an opinion. And you know what they say about those...and I'm no exception ;) Peace!
-
OP might have fooled ya :D or...if he is serious...needs to get a girlfriend ;)
-
Most of these psychos are actually very nice people...almost...carebears, you could say ;)
-
Don't worry about it. Just show those psychopaths that a bit of smart play renders their bloodlust useless. Ofcourse you're going to need some patience and a bit of common sense, but they're not that big of a problem as they would like to be :D

Yes. Actually...it's excellent! -
Quad core boost of arma 2 ?
Mercator replied to Delta Smoke 01's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hyperthreading would be the first thing I'd disable when playing Arma, do some searches on that. And Arma isn't exactly new...DayZ is. -
DMR is more common than M24?
Mercator replied to void.false@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi DOC :) Glad you decided to respond as a bonafide expert on all things military. Care to explain what those annoying dots could be in the middle of the DMR's crosshair? When firearms experts such as yourself, explain to us that it's all just guesstimating unless you have a range finder, we're just wondering if those pesky little dots are at all necessary in that rifle's scope. Thx for informing the crowd and educating us on these terribly confusing military things, Merc -
How do I get these options on the left?
Mercator replied to mccullxch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Look at what you think might give you an action (pick up, drag, give..., open door, etc...), and then use your mousewheel to see the options/actions. -
DMR is more common than M24?
Mercator replied to void.false@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The DMR is a designated marksman rifle and as such a lot more common than the specialized M24. The latter is still better than the former at engaging at large distances. Ofcourse for most people the fact that it is semi-auto and carries a 20 round clip, obviously makes it a much better gun than the real sniper rifle. But if you use the M24 for what it's intended, it's one shot kill capability and accuracy at +800m is significantly better than the DMR. -
Yep, seen that too and when I asked people about it, they claimed the VON created lag on their server... Belongs in the realm of gamer superstition, I guess.

i changed my controls now i cant get them back to normal, can someone help
Mercator replied to vanilladragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It probably means you toggled the freelook control on. Look in your list of controls for "look" and "freelook"...and set them according to your preferences. One allows you to look around while pushing a key, the other toggles that same function on and off. -
L85A2 gone, snipers will reign supreme

The battery for NVG's (or any other electrical powered gizmo) and matches suggestions sounds good to me! Seems logical too. -
Over 2200 people online on ARMA2 cheat forums
Mercator replied to zogin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People that have made missions and used/wrote scripts themselves know all this. But maybe it's kind of a bad idea to explain to the entire forum, how hacks can be done in Arma...atleast have people interested in that sort of childish behaviour, google all of that together by themselves :D maybe their adhd will prevent them from having the patience for that lol -
Lot's of people in my gaming community playing it and temporarily losing some players in this mod to it, made me curious.
