experimental patch 0.30.113997
DevilDog (DayZ) replied to shawnofthedead's topic in General Discussion
I am fairly certain those are NOT the experimental servers. I logged into one of them (DE 0-3) just now and had my regular gear and in the same location. The experimental servers are on a private hive so you get a different character with different gear. -
experimental patch 0.30.113997
DevilDog (DayZ) replied to shawnofthedead's topic in General Discussion
Pretty his point was you can't actually play THIS version because it is that badly broken. Also only 1 '?' is need at the end of a sentence. Sorry carry on. -
I followed these two guys for a while, just hanging out in the tree line as they ran along. They stuck out like a sore thumb man.

Winter Survival: The Northern Expedition

Another possibility, I like it. Along with building a fire to keep your body temp up you can have it to defrost your firearms. Before any "realists" come charging in, I know that is not exactly real considering the freezing point of CLP is -75F; but would be interesting. -
Will zombies get a boost? (not numbers but health)
DevilDog (DayZ) posted a topic in General Discussion
First off I know it's alpha and these zombies are just a place holder for the zombies to come. Now do you think zombies will get a boost to their health? Right now any gun in the game kills a zombie with 1 shot. Just does not seem right. The thing is though it takes a whole bunch of strikes with non-axe melee weapons to drop a zombie, so if they boost the zombie they would need to boost the melee weapons. Honestly imo the melee weapons could use a boost anyway, the crow bar and bat are about useless. -
Winter Survival: The Northern Expedition

Yeah that was my biggest goal. Force people to put some thought into their gear for a change. Rather than just badages and bullets lol. -
any one else notice clothing starting to get damp?

Winter Survival: The Northern Expedition

Thanks for all the great feedback guys, glad you all like the idea. It was one of those ideas that I came up with as I was drifting off to sleep, then I woke up and couldn't remember it haha. It came back though. Hope one of the devs read it. -
I went through Elektro and found two dead guys and heard a voice say "hey I am a dead guy, can you help me" not sure if it was the dead guy or the killer trying to lure me in.

Between your post and SJKSJK's post I think I will make a Surveillance or Stalker thread. The challenge is to take pictures of other players without them seeing you. I think it could create some awesome out comes.

*Long Post* The Intuition System and how it can work within DayZSA (Read before flaming)
DevilDog (DayZ) replied to Slyguy65's topic in General Discussion
Props for a well thought out post. I like the effort. Two issues for me. 1) You probably won't get close enough to a KOSer to get this message before his bullets tell you his intentions. 2) As for the morality argument it just can't be done. No not everyone is a nutcase with no morals, but no two people react the same to harming another person. Some people punch some one in the face and freak out, others can shoot some one and freak out less. It just can't be done. I really like this idea though so can I suggest this same type of thing, with out trying to say if he is good or bad? Things like... "There is blood on his hands/gloves" If he has killed some one in melee combat OR if he has gutted an animal "This person looks familiar" If you have seen them before "She smells like salt water" If they have been in the ocean or on a boat "This person looks clean and well kept" if they are a new spawn "He looks like a mountain man" if he has been around a while "He bares some scars" from combat he has been in Those might not be great examples, but something like that would be cool. -
Just the two of them. There was a group of four guys just north of them. The group of four looked like CQF guys judging by their coordinated movements. I know you play on their server, would be awesome if these guys were you  They were in the treeline on the west side of that huge mountain by the powerlines when I came across them.

LMAO great post. I have heard fishing WILL be implemented. The M4 would do better than the Mosin in water. The biggest thing for any of them would be salt water. Although like you said the wood stock of the Mosin would take some damage. Either way I agree. Assuming you are not Michael Phelps with these things they would be fine.

Chernarus was in the midst of a civil war in which the US Marine Corps was dispatched to help out. The Marine Corps gets transported by the US Navy. It is not far fetched for a large ship to be in the area. My idea is like the crashed helos but instead it would be a surfacing submarine. You could see the top sticking out above the surface of the water. Then swin/boat out to it. Board the thing, kill the infected crew and get you loot. Just make sure you get out in time before others arrive. Imagine the tension of having a look out up top as you loot the bottom and he calls out "pirates on the horizon". Time to get moving.

Compiled list of implemented features and their status
DevilDog (DayZ) replied to knar33's topic in General Discussion
Great post. Ruined magazines can get loaded into the .45 but they won't fire. The other thing you should change is "blood type required to do transfusion". This is some what true, but you can do the transfusion anyway, you just will die lol. -
Your favourite thing about the Standalone so far?
DevilDog (DayZ) replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The clothing is awesome, and much needed. Will be great to play the "Cherno Life" mod I am sure they make for this game with that option lol. The medical system is my favorite so far though. Some things not implemented yet and others are confusing but I love that it is more in depth than bandage/blood bag. Can't wait for hunting/cooking. -
Okay, admit it if this was you. Lets laugh together.

He just means double click on the item you want, it is much faster. At least I think he means that. People are funny trying to use the Mosin at that range. You need to carry a hang gun if you are going to be entering a city and you have a mosin. -
Dam relax people lmao just a pic.

A sniper is a person. A rifle is a firearm. A sniper rifle is when a rifle is in the hands of a sniper. I own a Remington 700 PS and that does not make it a sniper rifle lol.

We all know many people don't like playing at night, it's dark and scary and you can't loot crap unless cheat or use a flashlight. I hope to see that change. We should experience all aspects of this game, not just the day. So here is what I would suggest (as if anyone important will read my little post lol). First standardize all main hive servers. No more 24/7 main hive servers. 2- All the servers should be on the same day/night cycle. When it is night on one it is night on all. This will stop people from leaving cause it is night. 3- Have a short day/night cycle. 4 hours for an entire day in game. So 6 game days in 1 real day. 4- Have the day time last 3 hours and then the night last 1. If you can't last 1 hour at night before the sun starts to rise then too bad, go eat dinner. 5- Eventually (it's alpha ;) ) have things like generators you can hook up to certain buildings, or power you can turn on (or shut off for the 'bad guys') to entire cities ect. I think this will force people to play at night and make it more interesting. (I didn't add the many things already suggested that I agree with like make it a bit brighter, stop the gama 'cheat' ect.)

Celebrity Guests for voice overs?

Christopher Walken and Clint Eastwood for obvious reasons -
There was a traders list for the mod, see my sig. Each person could set up trades and execute them on their own and then get a + or - rating depending on how it went. I only had 1 bad deal, and I 'think' it was a glitch. Had a pair of NVGs fall through the docks and vanish. Other than that trading was extremely exciting. Plus it allowed me to get all of the firearms in the game at one point. Having to find a spot to store your tent was the issue. Also check out Fort Haven. They are good for this type of stuff. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154410-fort-haven-trading-outpost-recruiting-for-saukeuus-na-18-mic-required/?hl=trading

Figured that haha. Whew. I am hoping they have a whole bunch of different ammo types. The more the better.

1st vs 3rd Person Perspective explained (well)
DevilDog (DayZ) replied to jjw100's topic in General Discussion
I sum it up like this. IRL (which people like to use as the 1st pov) you have more senses than just site and sound. In the game you don't. I can't tell in game if I am up against a wall or not without looking. I can't tell where my character is without looking. 3rd person view helps you stay aware of where you are better since we lose our other senses. -
This patch was mostly for server side improvement, you won't notice any new "features" in the game. If you want the development process to go faster then play on the experimental server more. The more players they have the more info they get; the more info they get the faster they get what they need.
