    The bipod goes on the mosin too. Yeah I agree, otherwise there is no point in having the quad rail in the game.

    Right that is what I said lol. It is still a BR, but is a DMR. Just saying DMR as a cetegory is tricky is all. Cause it could be a DMR and still be in another category, like BR or AR. Funny how you can alter a rifles role just by some optics being added. Really anything can be a DMR if your DM is using it.
  5. I had a similar thing happen to me. Before the spawn moved I used to walk the streets of Elektro and wave to my neighbors and welcome people to my fine city. Well a guy comes running out of the grocery store like he stole a candy bar so I wave. He ran back in. I continue to walk. Then he comes out with a pistol drawn so I turn the corner. Then I see his friend coming out from behind some bushes with an M4 and I high tail it (I only had a .45). He opens fire and I am hit. I run through the back and rounds are hitting everywhere. I run out of the bank across the street around some buildings and I am thinking they are on my tail and got me. I stop to bandage up before I die and hear them saying I must have logged out cause they couldn't find me lol. Suckers. I have honestly never had anyone combat log on me.
  6. I know I have had a few encounters like this. But honestly it was easy to tell what was going on. Also that was on the mod, so I used to hide my stuff in a tent and so they would not get anything anyway.

    M14 is a battle rifle, but M14 with a scope is a DMR? The DMR fills the gap from Assault rifle to sniper rifle, it IS usually a battle rifle. And 'pistol' should be called an automatic. Good post though, I hope some one finds it useful.

    I said this for the mod too. Even unconscious bodies, so when you buddy goes down you can drag him to safety.

    Was just thinking about the reward and came up with something. It can't be ground breaking, so some super weapon would be out, but it has to be something everyone wants. After finding the abandoned military base you return to the south with.

    Exactly. I think a simple left, right and overhand attack system and a simple block would be great. Block would be mostly effective against other players, less effective against zombies. Anything that makes it so I don't have to attack 10 meters out would make me happy though lol.

    I love it. The Chernarus Dueling Soceity "A Gentlemens Hobby in a non gentle world". Can't wait for vid. For the record I like the old west draw type. You draw, no running, just stand and shoot until some one dies.
  14. I like to know how things work. I won't be planning by back pack based on any of these findings. I really don't carry much food anyway. I eat everything I can until healthy and then don't carry anymore.

    True, along with every thing else there are always knock offs. I actually owned a tactical gear company for a while and a buddy refused to buy a sight off me because he could get a cheaper one on Ebay. Well we took it out shooting and during the day light you could not see his reticule lmao. I always joke now, hey that is a great site as long as you don't shoot during the day. ACOG is a trademark of Trijicon though.

    Modular back packs (think Molle packs)

    The MOLLE packs took off with this system and I think it would go great in DayZ. Have 3 different sizes. Each one can hold a different number of items, like in the game now, but then each one can hold a different number of modular pouches as well. The modular pouches attach to the outside of the bag and PALS webbing. Pouches- Medical Pouch - Large. Looks and works just like the med kit, but attaches to your bag. Will people trust you more? Or are you a target? Magazine Pouch (pistol) - Small. Hold 1 pistol mag. Magazine Pouch (rifle) - Small. Holds 1 rifle mag. Double Mag Pouch (rifle) - Medium. Holds 2 rifle mag. Canteen Pouch - Medium. Holds 1 canteen. Hydration bladder - Large. Holds water (2x canteen) Small - two inventory spaces Medium - 4 inventory spaces Large - 6 inventory spaces Assault Pack - 20 slots, Holds 1 Large or 1 Med + 1 Small or 2 Small Pouches Rucksack - 25 slots, can hold 1 Large + 1 Small or 2 Med or 4 Small ILBE Main Pack - 30 Slots. 2 Large or 2 Med 2 small or 8 small I am sure the sizes and everything would require some balancing ect, but the basic idea is there. The packs and pouches would all be separate loot items, so getting a complete set how you like it could take some time. IMO the more loot items, the better.

    You should 100% be able to get a drink at a place you can fill up a canteen lol. Man I am dieing of thirst, but I had to drop my canteen from this can opener. Now I am dead. On another note though, having wells randomly dry up or freeze would be cool.

    I love this inventory system SO much more than the other one. I agree with what was posted here. The boxes need to get fixed so I can see in them when I hold them. Rotate items (sticks store vertically, but the splint is horizontal?). And finally the rifle thing. I think only the big bag should be able to hold an extra rifle, unless they add a "rifle bag". There are plenty of different rifle back packs out there to look at for a design.

    yeah that is it :rolleyes: Just noticed that too. I'll keep my fingers crossed and maybe put a suggestion in to pass on this info. Actually while doing an internet search I just came across this post. Gews you may find it interesting. I can blame Arma 2 devs, not our great crew. "The RCO (Rifle Combat Optic) is unfortunately a bastardized version of the real thing, lacking the correct reticle for the RCO and instead using a stripped down version of the TA01NSN crosshair (no range marks, no nightime illumination. The ranging stadia, however, do appear to be properly calibrated on the M16A4 (there is no M4 with an ACOG in the demo, so I haven't checked that). As you can see, the center crosshair is calibrated to 100m, followed by 200m, 300m, 400m and 500m stadia lines below. The top of the thicker crosshair is 600m. The width of each stadia line (or the width of the thicker vertical crosshair in the case of 600m) corresponds to 19 inches (average width of human shoulders) for the given range. This seems to pretty much work in-game, although the width at 100m is a little off. The distance between the thick horizontal center crosshairs should be the width of the shoulders at 50m, but this also seems a bit off (sight or the size of an ArmA man, I don't know). 2. I'm beginning to suspect that the reticle is calibrated for the M4 rather than the M16 (as the TA01NSN is in real life). At 500m and 600m the shots seem to group a bit high, but would probably be right on for the M4 (if the difference in velocity is actually taken into account). Maybe someone with the full game can check."

    Haha I understand the differences in different ACOGs guys, which is why I pointed out that the ACOGs in game are most likely left over from the Marine Corps (circa Arma 2). :lol: RangerBarlow I think you are right, it is more like the original Army version. The MC does not use that model though.They use the TA31RCO-A4CP (for the M16) or the -M4CP (for the M4). Obviously not a huge deal at all. After 2 weeks of just using a pistol and a week of using the Mosin I went back to the M4 today to try it again. Found the Acog (didn't even know they were in game) and noticed that right away. :thumbsup:

    however I can see the directional attack/block be a feature in the future, it's not impossible. I do agree with the bayonett however, switching from javelin to spear is smooth and should work similar in dayz when switching from firearm to bayonett. A good way to tell if someone got their bayonett ready, should be when they have their trigger hand moved to the stock and changing stance. That is the biggest thing. Instead of some clumsy swing at least let us choose the direction and defend ourselves.

    This would be amazing. I really wish they would hire some one just to work on the melee system. I have yet to play a game that was able to combine melee with range. Imagine fighting it out with a couple axes in this manner? Other ideas to enhance this. Riot shield, night stick combo Use hacksaw to cut wood axes into hatchets and duel wield them. Stick + rope + rock = flail
