I see a lot of people talking about security, but I honestly don't think it would be much of an issue as long as you find the right building. It is not like there are massive gangs out there, the largest bandit groups I have seen are 4-5 guys and use long range weapons. You could easily lock down the right building with 8 guys and CQB weapons. Maybe 2 spotters in other buildings. Just notify everyone that anyone coming in with a weapon drawn will be killed.

You would have to account for the fact that the larger you are the more calories you burn and thus the more food you need though. :-/

Awesome idea and great tie in to the dogs. I would love for some type of tracking system and the dog tracking scents would be great. Might be too tough to add into this game, but would still be awesome if they could do it. Would be funny to swim across a lake to lose the dogs tracking you down. Or wait on a ridge line, shoot the tracking dog and escape into the woods. Also the longer the body has sat there the less likely the dog is to get the scent. I doubt there will be different breeds in the game but different breeds could have different strengths. Rotty (highest attack, lowest tracking), German Shepard (good attack, good tracking), Lab (lowest attack, best tracking). Might not be 100% accurate to real life, but is a cool in game mechanic. More choices the better. -
Haha nah you did good. I just happen to have some experience on the technical side of things. As an air winger I never really wore my armor, I laid it under my 50 on the floor, figuring that is where bullets come from. :D

So with a head shot they die right? Body shots would sometimes just outright kill them and some times make them unconscious and able to be saved? And you would use the defrib to bring them back. Ok sounds to me like this is in place already, but with different names. Head shots kills, sometimes with body shots your just die and some times you are unconscious and still able to be saved. Instead of a defrib you use and epi pen though. This is the same as BF2 vs BFs Project Reality. One uses the defrib and one uses the epi pen but both are the exact same system.

Good post man. The NIJ certification is based around stopping pistol/rifle rounds. The higher the cert the higher the caliber. That spec was designed for police officers, because in most cases they found cops were shot by their own weapons, which is why most departments have a vest capable of stopping which ever caliber they carry. MILITARY vests go through an additional test called FSP (fragmentation simulation projectile) because the military found that the largest threat is from frag, not actual rounds. So they are designed to stop frag first, then bullets (although they still go through the same NIJ cert test so class 3 is class 3 across the board). The funny thing is if you contact PPI (they make the MTV for the Marine Corps) and get to know then they will even tell you that the MTV is a custom mix just sold to the Marine Corps and they have other better options for non MC use. ((Experience- I work at one of the 5 labs in the USA certified to do the NIJ certification test.))

Not to nit pick or anything but jets/helo's have IFF radio signals that are used for IDing, it is not based off of tail flags ect. I can tell you from experience though that when our own STA (surface to air) missiles locked on to you it makes your butt pucker anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identification_friend_or_foe -
Instead of explosives to break in make it a locked structure and you can use the crowbar to pry open the door and steal the goods. Cabin disappears on death.

Semper Fi I was thinking about starting a Marine Raiders type group, so it is really good to see this. When you get a helo going give me a shout and will have to show all you grunts how to shoot a 50 from the sky haha, 6172 here, Phrogs forever. This clan has my full support. Once I get my computer back up and running I look forward to seeing you all in the game. -
I don't really like when people post just to complain that you didn't use the search function because it does not work all the time, but dude there is a post about this still on the front page about 5 posts below yours. Anyway, http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=22296&highlight=body+armor That is a good post about it, with some one that has a lot of knowledge on body armor. I worked in one of the 5 labs in the US that is certified to do NIJ spec body armor testing, so if anyone has questions they can feel free to ask me.

I think some type of team building will be great and can't wait to see what Rocket comes up with. I don't want or need something that tells me what people have done, just a way to recognize people I have dealt with in the past. Either let people customize their character so they can be easily recognized, or let us mark people as friendly if we trust them and that some how is recognized when we see them. -
There is a thread that talks about this in great detail. you should not make more noise while wearing it, but you should require more water than normal. Also it would have to be right. A kevlar is not going to stop anything, although it MIGHT help protect you from a hatchet to the head, or a zombie hit. Maybe the BA protects from 1 shot at the most, after that the sappi plate is useless anyway and the player should be in pain and maybe can't run as fast due to broken ribs? I don't want to have to shoot some one 10 times to get a kill, that is COD stuff.

Love the fishing and melee weapon ideas, on the fence about the water tablets though. Cricket bat or maybe a rare hurling stick (Irish immigrant brought it with him lol) would be cool. KBAR of course should be there too. Great work on the models.

Honestly I don't know why people don't just hunt these people down on their own? People camping in the tree line outside Cherno and Elektro? Ok so you come up behind them and track down their location and kill them. Some guy hidden in a building, even easier. He has less ability to move around. Track down his location and kill him. They are able to kill without recourse because other players allow it. Yeah when you are new or don't have a decent weapon you are probably no match. But once you get a decent weapon and some experience then band together with other like minded people and hunt them down. So to put it here, but it is a suggestion....to other players.

Ever watch Sacriel42 play this game on youtube? He is the reason I don't trust Brits lol. Not that he is an asswhole or anything but him and his mates kill EVERYONE, and they are so coordinated and good at it. -
I know this is more FPS than RPG but I think the ability to significantly change up your look would be great. Shirts, pants, hair, head gear, colors, styles ect. The reason being that as of right now a lot of people just shoot everyone they see, which if they want to play like that I am fine with it; makes it exciting. But I have been in shootouts with friends because we were not sure who each other were lol. At the same time I have shot at guys that have helped me out in the past. I would just like to be able to recognize people based on their looks. And then if you want to still shoot them then by all means have at it. I also think this would stop a lot of the complaining about all the PVP that goes on.
