Probably not a bug, but an issue (multiple med kits)

Figured I would update. I did go back in and try a few things. If I have 1 kit in my hand and try to drag another there then they will just switch spots in the inventory but the 2nd one does not open. If I have 1 kit in my hand and remove that first then try and open the second one it will open. That is better still kind of slow, but not too bad.

Probably not a bug, but an issue (multiple med kits)

I had that same thing happen with the canteens. Could only fill one until I dropped it. Even when I switch manually in my inventory the same kit opens and just swaps locations of the two. As for their use. Yeah I tend to carry a ton of medical gear and prefer to organize each kit for a specific use. So I have 1 with pills (vitamins, water pur, charcoal, pain killers), 1 with just 6 bandages, 1 with blood bags and saline bags and 1 with injectors epi/morphine. Maybe I am just attracted to the pretty red fabric lol. I do love how in depth the medical system in this game is. I thought ModZ had a great med system, but this game trumps it. Anyway as you can see it becomes a pain in the butt to open the right case to access what I need when I have to drop cases to open cases.

    Any fellow heroes?

I was running around in full military gear, vest, mask, M4 ect but have since ditched it because it does not fit what I am going for. I am playing the medic. So I (when possible) will wear bright rain coats (yellow right now) and a bright backpack (bright green now). Plus a baseball cap and a dust mask. I also opted for the chest holster rather than vest because I really like that look (plus you only lose two slots by going that route). Finally I won't be taking an M4. From my experience people find me friendlier when I don't have it. And of course the fireaxe. I really like the wood splitting axe but it is just not worth the extra swings. Wish screen shots would work. Here is how I view others based on clothes. Fully geared guys are bad news (percentage wise anyway). I might keep an eye on them, or just go the other way. New Spawn Clothes- This can go either way. Some times they are nice and sometimes they are bandits that just spawned. They can go from your best bud to splitting your dome open as fast as they can pick up an axe. Proceed with caution and never turn your back. This dynamic is why it is so much fun helping new spawns. Some other type of clothing- These guys are usually friendly. More caution is needed if they have a rifle. I still don't trust them and always keep an eye on them. Generally a guy is not looking to PvP if he has bright rain coats on. This is location specific. If they are at a high a end loot spot they are trouble 90% of the time. Even if they are nice they are so sketchy and nervous it is not worth contact. I don't go to Balota looking for friends. Every player that has killed me was geared up, every other player I have come across was cordial.

Is it just going to be these 4 guns?

I am just hoping they come out with the medieval version where we all have swords and spears. Plate armor zombies kick ass.

    Blood Bags/Saline

Do you need another person to give you the blood bag and or transfusion like in ModZ? I think it would be cool if saline bags could be given to yourself, but only do half as much as a blood bag. This is in line with game mechanics and some what the real world. I can give myself an IV and hook up a saline bag, I don't think I can give myself a blood transfusion (not sure never tried, is it the same?).

    Two ideas (for science)

According to the wiki there will be spray cans in the game, not sure what their function will be. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Equipment I have thought about the fruit tree idea as well. Would be cool.

    Best place for FNX mags

Figured I would update this since my last post. I died and respawned. Made my way to Elektro and found the gun and two mags in the firehouse, then another in the other firehouse. Now I am all set.

Extension or New map for Dayz

I like this idea. Perhaps make it more survival oriented with the requirement to get winter gear / heat source or risk freezing.

    Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113860

So does anyone even know if he took a month off or are you guys just shitting on him for no reason. If he needs some time off then it is what it is. There is a team working on this and they can still get work done if he has off. The President of the US is taking 17 days off and we are ok, I think Rocket can afford to take a month off. Just chill out.

    Do supressors work?

This. I like when I run into people that know what they are talking about. The release of gas at the end of the barrel is what causes the initial sound and that is what a suppressor suppresses. You don't need special ammo for that so I really hope it is true the devs are shit canning that.

    Do supressors work?

I found 1 today and it actually sounds louder to me haha

    Desert Eagle

    I prefer the SW 500 :)
  13. DevilDog (DayZ)

Do you prefer Mosin or M4?

I am not a big fan of the Mosin, but don't really like the sniper role in this game. I also am bias towards to the M4 due to my RL career choices. I am a medic and would not mind just using pistols but I can't find the revolver and finally found my first mag for the .45 today.

    Healing and Healthy Status Effects

Just wondering if anyone has seen these status effects? I have been using the alcohol to clean my wounds and that is when I first noticed these. I was sick at one point after cleaning my wounds and then once they were fully healed I noticed "sick" went away and "healing" was in its place. A little bit later I noticed that I was full on blood (at least I think judging by the colors) and my status was "healthy". Anyone happen to know what these mean?

    Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113860

Fixed:Config: fixed an issue where unshouldering/shouldering weapon while moving forward caused the player to stopDesign: licking a battery now displays the battery's state properly I still have issues with stopping when switching or unshouldering a weapon. Also have tried this on batteries not in my inventory and didn't get any results. These patches do update automatically right, I don't have to do anything. And merry X-mas and any other holiday you may be celebrating. Dev team you do a great job, keep up the good work.

    Best place for FNX mags

I found only 1 so far. It was at one of the airports (I think in the jail building). Same trip I found 5 M4 mags and 3 double M4 mags.
  17. DevilDog (DayZ)

    Healing and Healthy Status Effects

You would think it was obvious but you don't start the game that way. Also this status effect is not in the wiki so I thought I would share it here in case anyone else has not seen it.

Your first encounter with a player in SA

Nice topic. First encounter. I was still pretty new to SA and had not made it to Cherno or Elektro even yet. Was looting a house and hear some one yell "hey you in the house". Not having anything to hide I said "hey". I run outside and he is in the street and asks for some bandages. I drop them down, but they vanish, then reappear and I get him bandaged up. He shows me to the new "projects" north of Cherno and we get a good loot run and go our separate ways. Second encounter. Was on the roof of a building in Elektro and dude climbs up next to me and scares the crap out of me. We laugh, trade some stuff kill a zombie and run off. Third encounter. Was at Balota when a guy (I only saw one, now I think there was at least 1 more) runs up and says but your hands up. I didn't see anything in his hands, I had an M4 no mags and an axe; so I decide to run off. Some one shoots me but I keep running. Then when I stop to bandage up they shoot me again. Fourth encounter was at Balota and the green building had its doors open just after reset. I had looted the barracks already and hangars and against my better judgement decide to go in the green building. At the top of the stairs was a dude holding an axe. I too had an axe. Also had an M4 with mags. He pulled out a hand gun (I think) and shot me before I could switch to M4. What did I learn. There is more trust (so far) in SA than in mod. Don't go to Balota, only bad things happen there haha. Don't try to loot at high vis places without your rifle out. Had a lot of fun so far.

Sick = Death logic (if you don't have antibiotics).

You nailed it. I have only been playing SA for about a week. But I have only gotten sick 1 time. It was the first few days and I wanted to test some stuff out so I literally ate all the rotten fruit I could find. Eventually I got sick. I didn't find any meds but drank plenty (10+ times every well I found) and ate everything I could find (except the rotten fruit). The sickness went away pretty fast. Now I don't eat the rotten stuff and try not to dance with the dead and seem to be ok.

    Night cycle / Gamma boost.

I agree. Whether it is locking gamma or some other settings or having a work around in some other manner this issue needs to be addressed. You should not be able to run around inside buildings at night without light to help you, especially without windows. I do like being able to see outside at night without the light though. I will leave the technical "how to" up to the excellent development team. I also agree with the day/night cycle thing. It is such a blast when you play through the night and finally the sun starts to rise. I think 3-4 each phase (day/night) is perfect. Maybe longer days for the summer time (not sure if they will do seasons, just saying).

Should it be easier to keep fed/hydrated?

I think it is tough in the early stages, but that is good. It puts more focus on staying alive rather than trying to find NVGs. I have only 1 day in the game but played the mod a ton. I am sure as you get some more gear and learn the game a bit more it becomes easier to stay full.
  22. I love playing the lone wolf. Always much more exciting that way. I once spent two days crawling around looking for some morphine at the NWAF due to broken legs. I have spent tons of time searching for a cow to get some meat cause I was extremely low on blood. I remember all the great gear and what it was like to finally find it....then trade it for something I didn't have.
  23. How is it going everyone? I have not played DayZ since October of last year. I am sure a million things have changed since then. So if you don't mind me asking what is new? Also I am finding it tough to log in on a "main hive" server. Do they exist? I would like to resume my old character and see what gear he has. Thanks,

    Returning player, what has changed?

That is terrible. I love roaming the north. Stary to Berezino was my home.

    Returning player, what has changed?

    Just messing with him lol.
