DayZ REALLY needs to add basebuilding or barracading
stielhandgranate replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
The project started in August 2012. Now the game isn't expected to be finished until 2016. On the contrary Arma 3 started development on May 19, 2011 and hit released on September 12, 2013. While the ArmA 3 release was shitty, it featured a new, much larger map, which the dayZ project simply lifted from ArmA 2 and upgraded it and a engine facelift with better weapons ballistics, sound effects and renders. DayZ's original release date is four years late while falling behind it's sister project:http://www.pcgamer.com/dayz-standalone-delay-explained-engine-improvements-detailed/ Terrible argument. You can hold a contractor liable for shitty workmanship or failing to finish a job on time. Early access and developers that depend on them are like a snake oil salesman that sell faulty wares and flee to the next town over before the locals wise up. There is no motivation to complete this project as the gross amount of their profits have already been provided up front, the game has terrible word of mouth, customer support consists of "Chain email 9 server providers help boxes and hope for the best" popularity and is dipping on the steam charts as time goes on and dedicated players begin to move on and less and less new players come in to the fray. Lets not forget the bullshit the players were fed where DayZ was put up on sale while at the same time going up in price so the "sale" was for it's original price tag. -
The "Crazy running speeds" have been standard in ArmA 2 and ArmA 3 and other Bohemia games. The current settings aren't built for Alpha unless you can back that with a source. 140 on a map of this size will make player encounters too common unless you are looking for some Altis life or Team death match game. Its a survival game, you shouldn't be bumping into others every 5 minutes. Like I stated before retarding the walk speed won't address the fact that ground vehicles can cover anywhere on the map in less than 8 minutes. There is literately nothing bad about extending the current map size.
-
Making players walk slower is a piss poor way to try to make the map "feel" bigger and won't help the issue when people operate vehicles to zip to all the points of interests. They can expand the north and west boundaries by cutting off the south and east water logged boundaries and reallocating the space. Its a shame we'll never see dayz in Altis, that map can feel large and empty with 120 players and had more than enough space for base building if anyone played the first build of breaking point before they ruined it trying to earn the make arma not war contest.

The current map size is a joke. In a zombie apocalypse you shouldn't run into new players every 5 minutes. The consistent implementation of more generic towns has led to less areas off the beaten path and a very limited amount of places where one can set up a base or hideout. The idea of the outside of the map spawning an everlasting amount of trees and hills is a good compromise You can set up a camp far off, but you better bring enough supplies to get back into the map or risk dying out there far from a resupply. .

Lets talk about the Recoil system and stabilization of firearms
stielhandgranate replied to DarkenedxGospel's topic in Suggestions
That isn't how a suppressor operates at all. In fact the baffles in a suppressor prevent gas pressure from escaping and help the round accelerate and can increase accuracy. -

There are no subsonic rounds in game except for .45 Auto. You can use regular rounds in a suppressor and still quiet the noise from a firearm being discharged. The whole suppressed firearms do less "damage" than non suppressed guns is heavily over exaggerated. -
I would really like to see survivors with mismatched pattern MOLLE gear on their plate carriers.

This game isn't set in Russia. Chernarus was the center of US/NATO/UN intervention. It is common practice to place translated signs in English for personnel using local roads. Seeing how foreign involvement extended to sandbag forts, light armored vehicles and HESCO walled bases, signs at least at major roads and intersections wouldn't be too far fetched. English is the language of trade, Even Air Traffic Control towers and civilian pilots need to be able to speak it. Here have some signs in Russia that have an English translation:

Why do never served people brag about cadet service like it's a major milestone? Being a cadet, that is wearing a wooly pully and some DPM pants on the weekend does not make you a soldier. You have no military experience, do not imply so. Good thing for him in the United States you don't need a license for things like owning a firearm. Did you forget British involvement in the Middle East or Southwest Asia?

Things the SA needs to borrow from the Mod.
stielhandgranate replied to Aceswingz's topic in Suggestions
Thats rich. If anything the map is too small and needs to be Altis sized. Finding unknown people should be a gift, a rare occurrence that makes people second guess shooting first and consider other options. Not a time to get your call of duty PvP action on. -
This is unsat- Ammocans of this size can carry way more than 120 intermediate rifle cartridges. Q: Dale Gribble how could you know how much an ammo can could carry? A: Good question, Ammocan of same size. And in the next photo we can see 490 M855 5.56 rounds in stripper clips.

Military barrack, have they become 'minor' loot building
stielhandgranate replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
Speaking of military stuff, where have the uniforms gone? I have secured 2 AK-74s,4 PM-73s,1 MP5, a SMERSH vest, 4 high capacity assault vest but not come by one TTsKO uniform or any Gorka uniforms. -
So we have TTsKO uniforms, how about this uniform? It would just be a simple recoloring of the former uniform. We have three gorka suits, why not more than one cloth uniform?

I agree. We should be able to proxy masks out of common items. Like T shirts- Duct tape- Or even shemaghs like in Arma 3-

the problem with dayz: not dank enough
stielhandgranate replied to Wookieenoob's topic in General Discussion
Never heard anything official on this, wouldn't make sense as day 0 would be society and the government responding to the outbreak, with stuff like electricity, phone lines, the internet and radios still present, not several weeks after when all signs of society and infrastructure are long gone. I think it was overzealous fanboys trying to stop people from calling the infected zombies that pushed this theory. -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)

They have AN-94s, but if they aren't in use or deployed as duty weapons then why bother putting them in game? It would be as logical as putting in the XM8 or XM25. As for the US Army using M16A2s and M16A4s I've seen several in use. The US army does not have enough M4s to give each person one, so units like Fuels,Trans,Muns or Finance will use an older M16A2 or M16A4 in various configurations, or in the US Air Force most deployers will use M16A2 rifles and until very recently CAR-15s (called GUU-5Ps in the air force) were still being deployed until 2014. We often called them "Fobbit blaster 9000s" as any job in combat arms, military police, or special forces will never use them. Unlike the AN-94, they still see use. -

I hear this a lot in regards to the AN-94 but we have any proofs of this weapon being used on as a duty weapon? I can't find an image of personnel using it outside of a firing range on what seems like a test demo or during their victory day parade where they often display less often used equipment in large numbers. On the contrary I witnessed SCAR Heavies being used in person in the US military in several occurrences, more so than I've seen UMPs or even MP5s. -

Different 7.62. SCAR Heavies are 7.62x51 while AKMs are 7.62x39, but I digress. -

Its a 7.62 rifle, so it is a battle rifle, not an assault rifle. Why? There was a Ukraine style civil war/proxy war in Chernarus before the zombie outbreak involving several nations. -

Are those rusted Russian ammo cans in the last photo? -
I wouldn't call a VSS an Assault rifle, It's used as a DMR and behaves more like a carbine than a full sized rifle. Is it restricted to crash sites? Also does the PSO-1 scope still fit AK rifles? I would be disappointed if it was coded to not be compatible any more.

I like the idea of an MG3, hearing those things in person while deployed was awesome. I would like to see it in game. I welcome the desert eagle in game as I like to think the cowadoody crowd will scoop up these range toys while passing up other more practical weapons they come across. I like the FG 42 and it's .308 replica for the adaptability over it's more well known cousin, as it has an interrogated bipod, bayonet slot, and compatibility with M14 magazines, but in the end it's up to the devs. We have the C96 and the P8 but a long arm or MP40 perhaps would really complement the group.

Lots of issues. Content is coming out at a trickle, and when it does it has issues (whats the point of trying to build a tent base if it will get wiped on Wednesday?) or Vehicles, Oh great a truck, well fuck theres three of us so we'll have to forget if unless we want to leave one person because the third can't sit in the middle. Then we have the servers that are loot farms and the lack of interest to deal with them (Hey don't tell it on the forums, instead send 8 random emails to every server host and hope one of them gets to it.). We also have the fact that when I try to get someone in my TS interested in the game, before I can link up with them, he dies from bleeding out or starving on a server picked clean. None of these issues are being addressed in a timely order and myself and the only other person in my group with a smidgen of interest wonder why the devs haven't addressed the issue with the central loot economy they want badly where what happens when certain items are taken out of circulation by players that log out and never log back in? Will these items be lost forever until a hive wipe? Will they not come back at all?

I'm not at all saying it's a common weapon. I'm saying its a better than an StG 44 for the purposes of this game if we really want a WW2 German self loading rifle unless we really want to see a firearm that uses propitiatory ammunition. If we wanted to get picky about it, we could see it being implemented as a semi auto replica that are in production. Such replicas are offered in .308 or 7.92x57 at the cost of 5k USD. Very expensive, although not as expensive as Blaser rifles such as the B95.
