Yes. there are two retention pins to break it apart, then the bolt group can be safely removed from it's track. It is very simple compared to an M16/M4 or even an AK series rifle.

A lot. I didn't take a photo of it, but the barrel can retract into the upper receiver, saving even more space. I could slide it into a rucksack with space to spare.

I took some photos of an M107 in my shop if anyone is interested. Also willing to answer any questions about it.

really? Can you administer a IV? It's pretty involved, in fact it is such an uncommon skill, members of the military have to attend a CLS course to learn it. Just like the statement that 5.45x39 wasn't going to be put in game. Taking cover and exposing yourself as little as possible is far easier to learn than combatives. One takes time to learn, the other can be learned in an afternoon.
-
Can you administer a blood bag or saline drip? Does everyone know how to give CPR or Set a broken leg? I know one of the devs said something about being a nobody with no set of skills but the fact that people can give involved medical care is very contradictory.

You would probably be apprehended by base security before being mowed down by gunfire. Also the bases are abandoned. There is no security to stop you from picking up an abandoned rifle.

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/613542/magpul-dynamics-art-of-the-tactical-carbine-dvd-4-disc-set-volume-2-2nd-edition http://haleystrategic.com/store/dvd.php You are now aware civilians too can learn such high speed military assault stances and tactics. Contrary to popular opinion the world's militaries don't implant some type of proprietary coding that restricts such movements to their own members and restrict civilians from copying them. Google "3 gun competition" and tell me such stances are prohibited from civilians. Lastly the players in dayz are not "some average civilian with no military experience". Average civilians can't do one quarter of what dayz player character can. In fact, the player characters in days are so resistant and trained in such survival skills and proficient in small arms and happened to survive in a civil war conflict on par with Ukraine or Syria and the down fall of law and local government.

It sounds like you want the game to as a clunky as possible because only military professionals know common sense in your opinion.

I just want to find a rifle and hand it over to a buddy when hes offline. It sucks that I jump into a truck and the AKM that I was going to hand off deletes itself because the vehicle magically eats the gun as I climb in.

Sorry, I'm not a marine. From what I know they use the M40. The Army and Air Force use the M24 for the most part, while the M2010 seems to be it's replacement. Marksmen, snipers and counter snipers train on the M24 while in some instances they may find themselves using something like the M14 EBR, M110 or the M107.

It is the heaviest non crew served small arm in the inventory. It would prevent you from being able to run a full sprint even when it is slung. It would only be fired accurately when prone, the only other option would be from the hip with no sight picture. When firing prone it would kick up a very large amount of dirt, exposing you. It should be less accurate than any other contemporary military sniper rifle such as the M24,M40 or M2010, most people think "it's .50, so it must be accurate" but every designated marksmen I've talked to claims they can archive much better results with a 7.62 rifle, or in the case of the M2010, .300WM. Engaging with it should be a pain in the ass, having to require your target after every firing should be noticeably more difficult than with a 7.62 sniper rifle. Lastly the only item needed to repair it should be a hammer as armorers reshape the frame with a mallet when it becomes disfigured, the most common deficiency that will deadline it. It is a large, heavy girl, but very simple when it comes to design and repairs.

Yeah I forget, it takes intense military training to carry 15 kg if it's in the shape of two long guns. Also I forgot we're going to ignore the fact that the player character starts in good health and has the mechanical know how to swap out parts on firearms, administer blood transfusions and saline bags, set splints, quarter game animals and humans, but carrying two rifles over the shoulder would be something way too intense and require to be a tier 1 operator. It does not take involved skills to shoulder two rifles, or in the case of the second photo, loop it though a backpack strap.
-
Trust me its not only doable, but people do it on an often basis.
-
You are wrong. Any designated Marksmen unit will have one. Not as much as M24s but my unit alone has eight. EOD units keep M107s in use for utility purposes. That being said I don't want to see it in game as I doubt they would portray it accurately and instead be an end tier sniper rifle.

Yes, there are a plethora of users that post only to put others down or post snaky replies as to why they disagree with them.

The funny thing is every sniper I've talked (real life one, not video game player) to hates the M107 and would rather use a M24. The thing is heavy as fuck and has a inconsistent MOA. Although I highly doubt the M107 or M82 would make an appearance I would love to see the M2 make one. Make players have to find a head space and timing tool to use it or risk damaging it or having it blow up on them.

Drenching handcuffed players in gasoline and igniting them!

I like it. Deranged, but would be one of those scary things that could happen to you if you surrender to the wrong group, like being force fed human remains, or chainsawed to death. -
Persistent bodies should be a thing. In the mod it was scary as fuck to find a bunch of bodies at one location. During the launch my group found a bunch of guys that killed each other with a bunch of damaged loot on their bodies. It was unnerving to try and loot as much as you could off them before whoever killed them returned. It adds to the atmosphere and is player driven, unlike heli crashes which feel more like bonus item drops.

Video games aren't cigarettes. They can be rated for adults but parents can still buy them for their kids legally. I love how you think hanging is immoral but ignore all the other mature content such as cannibalism. DayZ isn't going to censor itself because some kids convinced their parents to purchase it for them.

Or death by immolation with all the fuel cans laying around.

This idea is passed around before, but not any less valid. Drop leg holsters, ankle holsters and Galco style shoulder holsters would be a good addition.

People go crazy from stress and do abnormal things. My first deployment, one of my buddies I knew since basic formed a weird habit of stealing pens and pencils from everywhere and anyone. After 7 months he had enough to fill two grocery bags. He called his wall locker his "Pencil Prison". Never did anything strange before but he really couldn't handle all the shit people are expected to take in a deployment. I could see people breaking down without the internet, law and order and other luxuries we take for granted. Also:

Haven't seen Sunglasses, green ski masks or chernorussian Red Star berets.

As if finding your buddies wasn't hard enough

They are called troop beds. Its a real shame they don't have the already as when my group finds a V3S we have to leave it.
